GENERAL
 
Race 2- SOMBOR SHUFFLE was declared a late scratching at 11.00am by order of Stewards due to no rider being available at today’s meeting. Race 1 Apr Jky T Noble and Race 4- Appr Jky S Zoljan were not being able to claim her full allowance, they were replaced as per the Stewards Summary.
 
Race 1: BROWN & HURLEY TOOWOOMBA MAIDEN PLATE 1000M
 
 MR CASINO- Began awkwardly, bumped with SQUAMISH after the start. Raced at the rear of the field for the majority of the event, began improving into the race from approximately the 400m point and ran on well over the final stages.
 
PARISIAN ROCKSTAR- Laid out in the home straight.
 
SQUAMISH- Stewards acting under the provision of AR 143(14)(b) replaced Appr Jky T Noble with Appr Jky C Stuart due to Ms Noble not being able to claim her full allocated allowance. Shortly after jumping was bumped by the runner to the inside MR CASINO and then tightened for room between runners as a result when PARTISAN ROCKER shifted in after the start was affected. This resulted in SQUAMISH losing ground.
 
MADAM ROCK- Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
Race 2 BILL PESKETT’S MEMORIAL BENCHMARK 45 HANDICAP 1200m
 
REAL HUSSEY- After beginning with the field when approaching the 1000m point began to race ungenerously and raced towards the rear of the field for the majority of the event. On entering the mounting yard, stewards observed that the horse had the incorrect saddlecloth on. Acting under the provision of AR106(1) Stewards reprimanded Trainer B Waldron for his negligence in saddling whereby he presented his horse to the mounting yard with the incorrect saddlecloth. In determining penalty Stewards noted Mr. Waldron’s excellent record in relation to this rule.
 
DERBARI- Slow to begin then raced at the rear of the field for the majority of the event.
 
FORGED IN STONE- APPR S SOLJAN- Approaching the 150m point the rider elected to attempt a rails run to the inside of HAMMOON SUNSHINE. After gaining the run, HAMMOON SUNSHINE rolled in marginally resulting in the rider of FORGED IN STONE having to ease losing some momentum. Shortly after entering the home straight began to lay in and at approximately the the 100m point the rider ceased using the whip and it then raced erratically for a short distance.  Acting under the provision of AR131(b) issued a reprimand to Appr Jky S Zoljan for her failure to ride her mount fully to the finishing line. In determining penalty stewards could not be comfortable satisfied that the action taken by Ms Zoljan would have finished in front of HAMMOON SUNSHINE.
 
HAMMOON SUNSHINE- Between the 150 and 100m point rolled in marginally before being corrected by the rider.
 
Race 3: MAKTRANS TOOWOOMBA BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1200m
 
RUSHEEN- Bumped with WITHOUT SHAME shortly after the start.
 
KUDU- Was inconvenienced at approximately the 200m point when the runners to the inside shifted ground.
 
MISS HOFF- Began awkwardly when it jumped in the air as shortly after the start. Stewards inquired into an incident approaching the 200m point after considering all the evidence presented at the inquiry by all parties including the surveillance footage available on the day. Then acting under the provision of AR131(a) Reprimanded Appr Jky S Zoljan for careless Riding in that at approximately the 200m point she allowed her mount to shift in to obtain a more forward position when being not fully clear of OAKFIELD TARGET resulting in the rider of that horse having to check her mount and then subsequently inconveniencing KUDU which was racing to its outside at approximately between the 100 and 150m.
 
OAKFIELD TARGET- Began awkwardly tightening a runner to the outside. At approximately the 200m point was inconvenienced by another runner to its inside and had to be checked, losing some momentum at approximately that point. This action also resulted in KUDU which raced to outside was inconvenienced.
 
WITHOUT SHAME- Bumped with another runner shortly after the start was affected. Laid in for some distance during the early stages of the event.
 
BALLYCASTLE- Tightened between runners shortly after the start losing ground.
 
FINESSE TESS- Made contact with the barrier gates when beginning awkwardly and lost ground.
 
IN PEACE- Began awkwardly when jumping out.
 
 
Race 4: JAMES SCHMIDT CONTRACTING PTY LTD OPEN PLATE 1400m
 
UNRESTRICTED- Leaving the 200m point was eased by the rider when being crossed by another runner and then made contact with the inside rail. On returning to scale Appr Jky T Noble advised Stewards her surcingle had slipped in running which prevented her from testing her mount out fully over the final stages of the event.
 
WARRAH FLASH- Began awkwardly when it jumped with its head. The barrier gate come back making contact with the horse and then raced at the rear of the field for the majority, began to improve into the race from the 400m and finished the race off strongly over the concluding stages of the event.
 
STAY SAFE- Appr S Zoljan was replaced by Stewards as the rider of STAY SAFE and replaced by Jky B Newport as no claiming apprentice was available. Stewards acting under the provision of AR 143(14)(b) fined Appr Jky S Zoljan the sum of $100. Began awkwardly when it jumped in the air at the start.
 
BLERIOT- Bumped with another runner shortly after the start. Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
KAZZA’S JET- After hearing submissions from Appr Jky Ms S McCann Stewards permitted her to only claim .5kg of her allocated allowance. Bumped with BLERIOT shortly after the start was affected. Shortly after entering the home straight when racing in almost a three-wide position shifted in towards the inside rail at approximately the 200m point crossing and inconveniencing UNRESTRICTED which was racing on the rail. As a result, the rider of UNRESTRICTED was forced to ease losing some momentum. Stewards will inquire into the incident at a time mutually agreed upon between all parties.
 
 
Race 5: WARREGO HOTEL CUNNAMULLA QTIS CLASS 3 PLATE 1000m
 
ZA HIDDEN DRAGON- Began awkwardly with its head in the air.
 
CATALYSE- Bumped with OUR GOLDEN CHERUB shortly after the start was affected. Appr Jky. T Noble was unable to claim any of her allocated allowance. Due to no other riders being available she was permitted to ride the gelding. Stewards acting under the provision of AR143(14) penalized Ms. Noble a fine the sum being that of $200. Stewards advised her of her right to a review.  Failed to finish, post-race Veterinary examination was undertaken, and the gelding was found to be lame in the off foreleg. Trainer Mr W Baker was advised that a Veterinary Certificate would be required PTNS. Mr. Baker advised Stewards he would speak with the owners to obtain advice regarding the horse’s immediate racing future.
 
OUR GOLDEN CHERUB- Slow to begin and then bumped with CATALYSE shortly after the start.
 
PALACE KEYS- Bumped with SWISS BABE after the start was affected.
 
SWISS BABE- Bumped with PALACE KEYS after the start. Laid in during the early stages of the event before being corrected by the rider. Due to the seemingly below market performance today, Stewards ordered that a post-race veterinary examination be undertaken. This examination failed to detect any abnormalities.
