QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT CUNNAMULLA & DISTRICT DIGGERS RACE CLUB CUNNAMULLA – Saturday, 12th October 2024 WEATHER – Fine TRACK RATING – Dirt RAIL – True OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – C WarrenStewards Panel – D MacDonald GENERAL As App S Zoljan was injured and unable to fulfil her engagements replacements were made as per Stewards race day summary. App Zoljan was advised she would required a medical clearance prior to riding again. Race 1: BROWN & HURLEY QTIS MAIDEN PLATE 1200m IMPENDING RAIN- Tightened soon after the start and lost some ground. MAKERS- Raced keenly in the early stages. Laid in under pressure down the running. Raced wide for the majority. MR CASINO- Slow into stride. Tailed the field throughout. App Z Hunt advised that, in her opinion, the gelding had come to the end of its preparation. Trainer M Gavin concurred and advised the gelding would likely be sent for an immediate spell. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. MUMMIFICATION- Obliged to shift in and away from another runner near the 1100m. Laid out under pressure in the home straight having to be momentarily corrected by its rider approaching the 100m. LONIESHA- Laid in during the early stages and momentarily hampered MUMMIFICATION near the 1100m. Jockey T Townsend was reminded of her obligations to stop and straighten in similar circumstances. TELEKI- Raced ungenerously for some distance after being crossed near the 1000m. Trailed the field throughout. Jockey B Newport advised that, in his opinion, the gelding did not appreciated the heavy kickback, this being his mounts first start on a dirt track. Race 2: OIGLE COLEMAN MEMORIAL BENCHMARK 45 HANDICAP 1200m SEEBURG- Buffeted on jumping and raced in restricted room for a short distance thereafter. Crowded approaching the 1000m. Laid in under pressure down the running, shifting in under riding near the 200m and momentarily inconvenienced I’M FREE. App Z Hunt was reprimanded for careless riding pursuant to AR131(a) as a result of this incident. BUGDEN- Raced wide for the majority. SHE’SGOTACCESS- Laid in on jumping and bumped, placing SEEBURG in restricted room for a short distance. Shifted in under riding approaching the 1000m and crowded SEEBURG. Jockey J Rudd was reprimanded for careless riding pursuant to AR131(a) as a result of this incident. Raced wide for the majority. Performed below market expectations. Jockey J Rudd advised that, in his opinion, the heavy weight impost was a telling factor in the mares finishing efforts. Trainer D Rewald concurred with Jockey Rudds assessment. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities. FORGED IN STONE- Raced wide for the majority. I’M FREE- Bumped on jumping. Crowded soon after the start, became awkwardly placed on heels and was momentarily steadied. Momentarily inconvenienced and obliged to shift in away from heels near the 200m. Race 3: ARKWRIGHT’S STORE BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1200m JAKAMA- Began awkwardly. Finished tailed off. Trainer C Baker advised that, in her opinion, the gelding would derive a fitness benefit from the run, adding further that consideration would now be given to a gear change. PERFECT ENCOUNTER- Bumped on jumping. MON PIERRE- Laid in during the early stages. IN PEACE- Bumped on jumping. Laid in under pressure down the running becoming momentarily awkwardly placed on heels near the 50m having to be steadied and shifted wider. EUPHRATES DREAM- Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Jockey J Rudd pleaded guilty to a charge pursuant to AR131(b) in that he did fail to ride his mount out with sufficient vigour over the final four(4) strides of the event and in doing so did cost the mare 3rd placing. Jockey Rudds license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 14days to commence 20 October up to and including 2 November 2024. In considering the matter Stewards noted Jockey Rudds guilty plea and record in relation to the rule as well as the general circumstances and seriousness of the breach. Jockey Rudd was advised of his right to an appeal. TOUGH JUDGE- Laid out under pressure down the running. Race 4: SHEPHERD SERVICES CUNNAMULLA CUP OPEN HANDICAP 1400m BURDEN- Bumped on jumping. GREEK STAR- App D Bennett was permitted to claim none of his 2kg allowance given the lateness of his declaration as replacement rider of the gelding. KAZZA’S JET- Bumped on jumping. Bumped passing the 1000m. MORICONI- Bumped on jumping. Bumped passing the 1000m. CRAZY RUSSIAN- Bumped on jumping before being crowded when marginally slow into stride. Laid in under pressure down the running. TIARA JEWEL- Bumped on jumping. Race 5: MAYVALE SHEARER’S MUG BENCHMARK 50 HANDICAP 1400m Declaration of correct weight delayed to allow Stewards to view footage of the start. After viewing the patrol footage it was determined LENROY had reared as the start was effected and consequently began very awkwardly and lost significant ground. As the incident was solely attributable the geldings manners no further action was taken and correct weight was declared on the Judges numbers. EDWARDS- Bumped on jumping. LENROY- Reared as the start was effected contacting the barrier petition with its head on jumping and lost significant ground. Took no competitive part in the event. Trainer J Hatch was advised the gelding would be required to obtain a further barrier certificate prior to again being permitted to start in a race. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a minor laceration to the near-side of the geldings mouth. GILLICK’S WAY- Began awkwardly and bumped.
