Race 6:  Haymans Electrical Dalby Cup Open H'cap – 1400m

On return to scale a protest was lodged by apprentice L. Tilley, rider of I DO CARE, which dead-heated for 1st, against BELFLYER (Beau Appo), which also dead-heated for 1st, alleging interference over the final 50m. After taking evidence from the parties concerned, stewards found that over the final 50m BELFLYER shifted out, making contact with I DO CARE, forcing that horse wider on the track and preventing apprentice Tilley from riding his mount out. The protest was therefore upheld and the Judge’s placings amended to read:  No. 9 – I DO CARE – 1st      No. 7 – BELFLYER – 2nd      No. 4 – LAST SIGHT – 3rd      No. 2 – SMOOTH TALKER – 4th

Tilley), which shifted ground when not sufficiently clear. Apprentice Tilley was issued with a reprimand. Held up rounding the home turn.
