Race 1: CROWE HORWATH QTIS 2YO MAIDEN PLATE – 800M

As Apprentice G. Willoughby was unable to arrive on course to fulfil her engagement in this race due to transport difficulties, B. Stower was substituted as the rider of MUDDY PUDDLE DAY when no other apprentice was available.

The start of this race was delayed when MUDDY PUDDLE DAY proved difficult to load. Trainer T. Dougall was advised that a warning will be placed on the horse’s pre-race manners.

BEANS ‘N’ RICE – Slow to begin.

GRACE DARLING – Slow to begin.

KURO HOSHI – Jockey S. Bogenhuber could offer no explanation for the filly’s poor performance. Trainer B. Currie advised that following the horse’s disappointing performance at its last start at Ipswich, he was surprised that the filly opened very short in the market. Mr. Currie further added that he now intends to spell the filly.

MUDDY PUDDLE DAY – Slow to begin.

SPIRIT’S SILK – Raced greenly throughout.

THE BUMBLEBEE – Tightened for room approaching the 400m between COSSIE, which shifted in marginally, and NOONOO, which was taken out by SPIRIT’S SILK, resulting in THE BUMBLEBEE losing considerable ground.

Race 2: PESTWORX CLASS 1 H’CAP – 1000M

The start of this race was delayed when RICH TRADITION lost an offside front plate during the preliminary and had to be replated. The horse also underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed fit to start.

The start of this race was further delayed when MUNEEFAJAM proved very difficult to load.

UNIQUE MAGIC – Raced 4 wide without cover throughout.

MUNEEFAJAM – Became fractious in the barriers and reared as the start was effected, resulting in the gelding losing considerable ground. Trainer S. Burns was advised that he must obtain a further barrier certificate for the gelding prior to its next race start.

Race 3: HENRY ‘DOC’ SMILES MEMORIAL MAIDEN H’CAP – 1200M

The start of this race was delayed when COURTING JOY had to be resaddled behind the barriers.

TATOI – Began awkwardly.

BEAUTY MO – Began awkwardly. Apprentice N. Keal reported that his mount hung out throughout.

EXCEEDINGLY BRAVE – Tightened for room at the start. Momentarily eased from heels leaving the 600m.

HARRY’S ME BOY – Tightened for room at the start and lost ground.

JONDY QUALO – Tightened for room at the start.

PIGINARKI – Bumped at the start. Tightened for room momentarily near the 600m by DROVER’S YARN which shifted in whilst hanging in.

Race 4: WILD RIVER CONCRETE DALBY NEWMARKET OPEN H’CAP – 1200M

TISANI TOMSO – Apprentice N. Keal was reminded of his obligation to not use an action with his whip that raises his arm above shoulder height.

MARKSFIELD – Bumped at the start.

REWARD FOR FASHION – Bumped at the start.

Race 5: PAUL & DAVID WINTER LIGHTING OPEN H’CAP – 800M

As CHOICE BRO and BAGGER CHANCE were resuming after a lengthy spell, both horses underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and were passed fit to start.

ANOTHER WHISKEY – Began awkwardly and knuckled, and then shortly after made contact with the hindquarters of LIFE’S LIKE THAT and lost considerable ground.

Race 6: DALBY LEAGUES CLUB CLASS 3 PLATE – 1200M

EXCEEDINGLY KOOL – Began awkwardly and bumped DEUS. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.

SIR BAM – Apprentice G. Willoughby was fined $200 for using her whip on more than 5 occasions prior to the 100m. In determining penalty, Stewards took into consideration the totality of whip use, and Apprentice Willoughby’s good record in relation to this rule.

JIMIBRAMZ – Apprentice R. Goldsbury reported that she placed her mount under pressure throughout, however it failed to respond to her riding and proved disappointing. Stable representative, Mr. N. Hahn, could offer no explanation for the disappointing performance and advised that Trainer Mr. M. Nolan will speak to connections regarding the horse’s racing future. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.

DEUS – Bumped at the start.

JIM ‘N’ ANDY – Bumped at the start.

SOLTINHO LAD – Raced in restricted room to the inside of ALPENGLOW leaving the 600m and, as a result, had to be eased and became unbalanced.

ALLENA – Declared a late scratching at 3.50pm on veterinary advice after the mare was found to be lame in the near hind leg. Trainer S. Strazzieri was advised that the horse will require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again.

Race 7: GLORIA HOSKIN MEMORIAL/DALBY ICE SALES BENCHMARK 65 H’CAP – 1400M

Prior to the declaration of correct weight, R. Goltz, the rider of the fourth placegetter HARADIFY viewed the photo finish print for third. After viewing the print, he was satisfied with the Judge’s semaphored numbers.

MICKEY DAZZLER – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.

WE BUILT THIS CITY – Raced 3 wide with cover in the middle stages.

I’VE GOT FRIENDS – Began awkwardly.

REJUVENATE – Held up entering the home straight.
