QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT DALBY TURF CLUB – FRIDAY 11 JANUARY 2019 WEATHER – FINE TRACK RATING – GOOD 3 RAIL – 2.5M (600M-300M), TRUE (REMAINDER) OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – E. Wishart was fined $200 for failing to seek the permission of Stewards prior to leaving the course for a short period between her riding engagements in Races 1 and 7 today. Race 1: VAL’S ICECREAM VAN CLASS 4 PLATE – 1788M The start of this race was delayed when MAGIC’S BIG SECRET lost a near fore plate which had to be refitted upon arriving at the barriers. The gelding also underwent a veterinary examination and was passed fit to start. CHOPPA – Improved onto heels when approaching the winning post on the first occasion and, as a result, shifted out before being allowed to stride forward to obtain a position in the lead. Overraced in the early and middle stages. ESCHIELE – Laid in over the concluding stages. DYLAN JACK – Stewards noted the explanation provided by Trainer C. McIver regarding the late nomination, acceptance and subsequent scratching of the gelding. MAGIC’S BIG SECRET – Laid in over the concluding stages. Race 2: KNOX VETERINARY QTIS 3YO BENCHMARK 62 H’CAP – 1200M SPIRIT’S CHOICE – Laid in in the early stages. Dipped upon leaving the 1100m. KING BART – Jockey L. Cheshire reported that the gelding hung out for the majority. Connections advised that the horse will be sent for an immediate spell. A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding revealed no significant findings. PAPA JO – Began awkwardly, and then steadied from heels shortly after the start. Hung out in the middle stages. ALLE VONGOLE – Began awkwardly and shifted out resulting in MISHANI VALENTINO and SPIRIT’S CHOICE being forced wider on the track. Race 3: FAST GRASS MAIDEN H’CAP – 800M The start of this race was delayed when MYKISS FROMA ROSE underwent a veterinary examination behind the barriers due to blood being present in one nostril. MYKISS FROMA ROSE was subsequently declared a late scratching at 2.50pm on veterinary advice. All monies invested on the filly were ordered to be refunded with the following deductions applicable. 10 cents in the dollar for the Win #322 cents in the dollar for place of winner #312 cents in the dollar for 2nd place #44 cents in the dollar for 3rd place #1 As there was no external trauma visible on the filly, Trainer B. Azel was advised that the horse must gallop satisfactorily over 1000m in the presence of a Steward prior to racing again. MIRACLE STAR – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. CANFORD TREE – Tightened for room at the start and lost ground. JACK OF SPADES – Laid in in the early stages. Apprentice H. Phillips was reprimanded for using her whip on more than 5 occasions prior to the 100m. MISS COCHISE – Began awkwardly. PRIMROSE PRINCESS – Began awkwardly. Hung out rounding the home turn. PRICE ONA GOODTIME – Slow to begin. TIANYAR – Bumped shortly after the start. MISS MOSS – Declared a late scratching at 10.52am following advice from Trainer P. Butterworth that the filly had sustained an injury in the float en route to the course. Race 4: KELLY/HENRY LOOKOUT DFRK BENCHMARK 70 H’CAP – 1000M BAGGER CHANCE – Bumped heavily at the start and became unbalanced. CLIVEDEN – Began awkwardly making heavy contact with BAGGER CHANCE. Tightened for room between runners shortly after the start. Race 5: PLOUGH INN CUP BEER GARDEN MAIDEN PLATE – 1400M A pre-race veterinary examination was conducted on COSMIC KITTY after it made contact with the fence upon leaving the enclosure. The mare was subsequently passed fit to start. BRAZEN CHOICE – Steadied to avoid heels near the 150m. MEATBALL – Raced with its head in the air whilst being restrained for some distance in the middle stages. Shifted out abruptly of its own accord near the 150m. Steadied to avoid heels passing the 100m. POSTER MAN – Jockey L. McCoy was reprimanded for using her whip forward of the gelding’s shoulder in the vicinity of its neck. CORKONIAN – Bumped on jumping away. BEAUTY SECRETS – Raced wide without cover throughout. Had a tendency to hang in in the home straight, and had to be steadied by its rider when shifting ground inside the 100m. CHAMPAGNE PARTY – Jockey N. Tomizawa could offer no explanation for the seemingly disappointing performance. Trainer B. Currie also expressed disappointment in the performance, and added that the horse may not have been suited to the firm track conditions today. A post-race veterinary examination of the mare revealed no significant findings. OUR LIL’ HUSSEY – Raced in restricted room approaching the 400m and had to be restrained by its rider, and was then held up at the heels of other runners for a short distance. SPARMAN – Bumped on jumping away. Steadied from heels for some distance approaching and passing the 1100m. Race 6: RACE CLUB LIFE MEMBERS RATINGS BAND 0 – 55 H’CAP – 1400M SCHINDLER – Laid in in the home straight. WHITMAN – Trainer B. Currie advised that in light of the performance today, he will now review the gelding’s future in his stable. BY THE LAW – Bumped by another runner near the 300m. SCHMIZO – Began awkwardly. Bumped by another runner near the 300m. Had to be steadied, and shifted in to secure clear running, in the early stages of the home straight. GET ON – Bumped on jumping away. MAMZAR – Began awkwardly and lost ground at the start. ROTINDY – After beginning well, the mare was allowed to stride forward and secured a position further forward in the field than anticipated. Got its head in the air whilst being restrained near the 1000m. ROSEXCEL – Bumped on jumping away. Race 7: RACE CLUB COMMITTEE CLASS 2 PLATE – 1200M MARROCK – Bumped at the start. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. PRIOR ENGAGEMENT – Raced 3 wide throughout. REAL SUPREMACY – Bumped at the start. Bumped by another runner on multiple occasions for a short distance leaving the 1000m. SHADYVALE STAR – Bucked for some distance after the start and lost considerable ground. The trainer’s representative was advised that the gelding must barrier trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to its next race start.
