Race 1: Jim Beam QTIS 2yo H'cap – 1200m

BUTTER TOAST – Proved difficult to load into the barriers. Trainer B. Currie’s representative was advised a barrier certificate must be provided for the horse prior to its next race start.

YOU’RE SO VAIN – Jumped away awkwardly. Shifted in abruptly shortly after the start, tightening another runner.

VENETIAN BEAUTY – Shifted out on jumping away.

YEEZY – Tightened for room and lost ground near the 1100m.

GRACEFULLY CHIC – Had to be steadied from heels passing the 800m.

FALLEN FOR YOU – Lost its nearside winker near the 700m.



Race 2: Canadian Club Benchmark 75 H'cap – 2200m

METEOROLOGIST – Connections advised the horse would be ridden in a more forward position if circumstances permit. Raced at the rear of the field in the early stages and allowed to stride forward when the pace steadied near the 1200m and took up a position in the lead near the 900m.

SKYTREK – Stewards accepted the explanation for the late declaration of M. McGillivray as the rider of the horse.

DANISH HOMBRE – Stewards accepted the explanation for the dual engagement of B. Grylls on this horse and SKYTREK. M. McGillivray was substituted as the rider of SKYTREK.

JAM WITH THE DUKE – Slow to begin. Bumped by another runner near the 500m.

ROYALTOWN ROAD – Pulled hard in the middle stages and near the 1400m had to be restrained off heels.

TAMPERE – Apprentice S. Fawke, rider of MONACO DOLL, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding, in that passing the 600m he allowed his mount to shift out after making contact with TAMPERE, which in turn was taken out on to WIMPOLE STREET, resulting in TAMPERE having to be severely checked. S. Fawke was suspended from riding in races for a period covered by 13 days, to commence at midnight, 16 February, the expiration of a previously incurred suspension, and to expire at midnight, 29 February. S. Fawke was fined $200 for weigh in overweight.

COOL WATER – A post race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery rate, and had shifted its near hind plate in running.



Race 3: Makers Mark F&M Class 6 Plate – 1200m

FLIGHT ACADEMY – Declared a late scratching at 12.57 pm due to the downgrading of the track.

FAICONI – Trainer C. Munce was fined $200 for failing to declare a rider by the prescribed time. Raced wide without cover until near the 600m.

KNIGHTWICK MANOR – Apprentice B. Grylls was questioned as to why she did not race close to ADORABUBBLE approaching the 800m. Miss Grylls explained that her mount hung out despite her efforts after passing the 800m and commenced to weaken shortly afterwards.

CASTANITA – Raced wide after leaving the 800m without cover. Lost its near fore plate in running.

SHIRAZ ATTACK – Lost its near fore plate in running.



Race 4: Mount Franklin Benchmark 85 H'cap – 1640m

REVITALISE – Trainer J. Meagher was fined $200 for failing to declare a rider by the prescribed time.

RIGHT OR WRONG – Permission was granted for the late scratching at 1.30 pm due to the downgrading of the track.

TRAKSTAR – Permission was granted for the late scratching at 1.42 pm due to the downgrading of the track.

GOLD HORIZON – Raced wide in the early stages. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance, jockey M. Hellyer stated, in his opinion, the gelding did not handle the track conditions today and was under pressure prior to the 600m.

BUDGET BENDER – Raced wide in the early stages. Eased out of the event in the home straight. A post race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery rate and a laceration to the near fore heel, consistent with galloping on itself.

DARCI BE GOOD – Raced wide in the early stages. Bumped and taken wider near the 500m.

OAK ‘N’ ARTHUR – Apprentice B. Appo was fined $500 for using his whip more than 5 times prior to the 100m.

Race 5: Coca Cola QTIS 3yo H'cap - 1110m

SEQ THE STAR – Declared a late scratching at 7.37 am due to the downgrading of the track.

GLOBAL RED – Declared a late scratching at 2.03 am to the downgrading of the track.

MYSTICAL RENEGADE – Slow to begin.

NIETA – Began awkwardly. A post race veterinary examination revealed the horse was suffering from heat stress.

RA RA EPIC – Raced 4 wide without cover.

Race 6: Coke Zero CG&E Class 6 Plate – 1200m

NAPAYSHINI – Slow to begin. Raced wide without cover after leaving the 800m.

TAN TAT DIAMOND – Slow to begin.

PROFILER – Had to be steadied passing the 800m when pulling hard. B. Stewart, rider of ALLKNIGHT SAINT, was reprimanded for allowing his mount to shift in when not clear of another runner.

MEGA D’ORO – Momentarily eased when tightened for room near the 300m.

ALLKNIGHT SAINT – Lost its near fore plate in running.


Race 7: Sprite Open H'cap – 1350m

SALUTER Permission was granted for the late scratching at 1.30 pm due to the downgrading of the track.

LAUTERBRUNNEN - Permission was granted for the late scratching at 1.30 pm due to the downgrading of the track.

AMEXED – Declared a late scratching at 1.50 pm due to the downgrading of the track.

ZAHA’S ACE – Brushed by another runner inside the 50m.

STEEL ZIP – Apprentice S. Fawke advised his mount travelled well however did not respond to his riding when placed under pressure and may not have handled the track conditions today. A post race veterinary examination revealed the horse was not striding out in front. Trainer P. Duff advised that the gelding would now be sent for a spell.

JOPA – Apprentice B. Grylls was fined $400 for using her whip more than 5 times prior to the 100m.


Race 8: Cascade QTIS No Metro Wins H'cap – 1350m

COURT CLOWN – Trainer R. Vale was fined $200 for failing to scratch the horse by the prescribed time.

RIDEONABIGJETPLANE – Permission was granted for the late scratching at 7.52am.

BAYVIEW EMPEROR – Bucked when proceeding to the barriers which necessitated the horse having to be resaddled. The trainer’s representative was advised that a warning would be placed on the horse.

MARSHAL – Reared after being loaded into the barriers, getting its off foreleg momentarily cast over the partition. Examined by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to start.

BUON AUSPICIO - raced wide throughout the event.

OL' BROWN EYES - Raced wide throughout the event.
