GENERAL

As G. Colless did not provide a medical clearance, he was examined by the Club doctor prior to the meeting and cleared to fulfil his commitments.

Race 1: JIM BEAM QTIS 3YO H’CAP – 2020M

After viewing the stewards’ patrol footage, apprentice L. Dittman, the rider of I’M BELUCCI, placed 2nd by the Judge, lodged an objection against EMPHASIS being declared the winner, alleging interference near the 250m. After taking evidence from all parties and viewing the official videos, stewards were of the opinion that, bearing in mind the margin separating both horses at the finish and the slight shift outwards from EMPHASIS after leaving the 200m, the objection was frivolous and therefore dismissed the protest and declared correct weight on the Judge’s placings. Apprentice L. Dittman was fined $200 for lodging a frivolous objection.

I’M BELUCCI – Trainer D. Forster advised that the horse would be ridden wherever comfortable, but preferably not in the lead. The horse settled in a handy position with cover.

THERMAL UNIT – Hung out rounding the home turn.

Race 2: MAKERS MARK OPEN H’CAP – 1350M

SIR MOMENTS – When questioned, P. Hammersley stated that when the tempo of the race quickened near the 600m, his mount was flat-footed, which he attributed to the 61kg weight impost. He further stated that in his opinion SIR MOMENTS did make some ground in the straight and he was not entirely disappointed with the horse’s effort.

JETSET LAD – Bumped near the 200m.

LIBERATION – Laid in under pressure near the 200m and made contact with another runner.

Race 3: CASCADE QTIS 2YO H’CAP – 1050M

ARGYLL BAY – Jumped awkwardly and blundered.

BAGUS – Shifted out under pressure in the straight.

DOUMBEK – Jumped away awkwardly and shifted out abruptly.

RAINY DAY WOMAN – Raced wide without cover. Apprentice C. Dell reported at scale that his mount hung in for the majority of the event.

SEA MIRACLES – Trainer C. Anderson advised that it would be the intention to have the horse ridden in a midfield to back position. The horse was ridden accordingly. Bumped by another runner near the 900m.

SWEET CAVIAR – Jumped awkwardly and lost ground.

Race 4: COCA COLA CLASS 6 PLATE – 1350M

QUICK SNITZEL was a late scratching at 2.04 pm when the veterinary surgeon reported that the gelding was lame in the off foreleg. A veterinary clearance will be required to be produced prior to the horse being permitted to race again. Stewards ordered that all monies invested on QUICK SNITZEL be refunded, with the following deductions to apply to successful wagers:

4 cents in the dollar for the Win #8
4 cents in the dollar for place of winner #8
7 cents in the dollar for 2nd place #1
8 cents in the dollar for 3rd place #5

GRANDE PUNTO – Lost the off fore plate in running.

WILD ‘N’ FAMOUS – Raced wide without cover.

Race 5: COKE ZERO 2MW LAST YEAR H’CAP – 2020M

UNO FIVE – Hampered and taken out on to another runner near the 300m. K. Stanley, the rider of TRACEY’S ANGEL, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR. 137(a) in that she permitted her mount to shift out at that point when not fully clear of UNO FIVE. K. Stanley’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 8 days, with the term to commence at midnight on Tuesday 29 March and expire at midnight on Wednesday 6 April 2015. In determining penalty, stewards took into account jockey Stanley’s good record.

ADORABEEL – Bumped by another runner near the 300m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.

COLLAR – Raced wide without cover throughout.

TRACEY’S ANGEL – Had to be steadied when tightened for room between runners near the 600m.

REVITALISE – Shifted in near the 600m, tightening runners to the inside.

MOON AND THE STARS – Had to steady away from the heels of another runner after passing the 600m and shifted out.

LEVER LEVER – Late scratching at 11.50 am for veterinary reasons. Trainer M. Dunn was advised that he will be required to produce a veterinary certificate.

Race 6: MOUNT FRANKLIN BM75 H’CAP – 1615M

RULING FORCE – Connections advised that from the barrier the horse would be ridden in a more forward position and hopefully settle in a handy position. The horse was ridden accordingly.

MAKEADANE – Raced wide and obtained cover near the 700m.

STORM MAGIC – Had to be restrained from heels when the pace steadied near the 1300m.

RECKLESS ABANDON – Jumped awkwardly, shifted out and bumped another runner.

WRITTEN ABOVE ALL – Apprentice B. Stower reported to stewards that her mount was inclined to hang out throughout the event.

PROMAS – Jumped awkwardly, bumped shortly after the start and lost ground. Shifted in near the 150m and made contact with another runner.
