Race 2: Moet & Chardon Chairman’s Club CG&E Maiden Plate – 1200m

MYSTERIUM – Inconvenienced near the 800m and forced wider on the track, and raced 3 wide from that point.

PROMISCUOUS – Commenced to overrace passing the 800m and shifted out from the heels of CAPTAIN EYCHE.

CAPTAIN EYCHE – Held up for clear running approaching and rounding the home turn.

LEDOYEN – Over the concluding stages raced in restricted room between SIRTIME and PROMISCUOUS and as a result was unable to be fully tested by its rider.

CONCA DEL SOGNO – When asked to explain the performance, jockey J. Byrne stated that the gelding was inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight, which prevented him from riding the gelding out in his normal manner. He added that he was of the opinion that the horse would be better suited over further distances than that of today’s race. His explanation was noted.

BRONZED VENOM – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.

Race 3: Mount Franklin F&M Maiden Plate – 1200m

ROSIE’S HEART – The start of this race was delayed when the filly proved difficult to load. Stood flatfooted and missed the start by a considerable distance. Trainer C. Meagher was advised that ROSIE’S HEART must compete satisfactorily in an official barrier trial prior to racing again.

EIGHT VERSES – Overraced in the early and middle stages. Jockey J. Byrne reported that his mount raced greenly and failed to respond to his riding from the 600m. A post race veterinary examination of the horse which weakened in the straight revealed a slower than normal recovery rate.

GOLDEN FUTURE – Laid out under pressure over the final 100m and near the 50m brushed CUERVO.

CUERVO – Brushed near the 50m. Apprentice J. Orman dropped his whip near the 50m.

GEORGETTE – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout the race.

BIDII BABE – Jockey J. Lloyd was reminded of his obligations to at all times to ride his mounts out the end of the race.

GAME OF DREAMS – Jumped away awkwardly.

AURUM LAD – Raced 3 wide without cover.

HOT LIPSTICK – Apprentice L. Attard reported that his mount did not feel comfortable in its action during the race. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.

Race 5: Teddy Bears Picnic Raceday QTIS 3yo H'cap – 2220m

TOO ROUGH – Change of tactics. Connections advised that from an inside barrier the intention is to settle in a midfield position. The horse subsequently settled in a worse than midfield position with cover. Bumped heavily approaching the home turn.

MULTIMEDIA – Had to be eased passing the winning post on the first occasion to avoid the heels of ENDLESS DON, which shifted in when not fully clear. Apprentice J. Oliver, rider of ENDLESS DON, was issued with a severe reprimand and advised to provide far greater clearance when shifting ground in future.

SLAUGHTER BAY – Raced 3 wide in the early stages until passing the 1400m.

MYSTIC OPAL – Approaching the home turn shifted out and made heavy contact with TOO ROUGH. Soon after entering the home straight, shifted out and again bumped heavily with TOO ROUGH. Jockey J. Lloyd, rider of MYSTIC OPAL, was urged to exercise greater care when attempting to afford his mount clear running.

Race 6: Treasury Casino Oaks Day 4th June F&M Class 3 Plate – 1110m

WRITTEN AT DAWN – Trainer S. Kendrick was fined $100 for failing to produce the registration papers for the horse.

MAGNUS COR – Slow to begin. Had difficulty securing clear running in the home straight until approaching the 100m.

AGORA – Slow to begin.

KISSED BY DESTINY – Jumped away awkwardly. Held up for clear running in the home straight until approaching the 100m.

AMBER JEWEL – Overraced in the early and middle stages. When asked to comment on the performance, apprentice J. Orman indicated the horse performs best, in his opinion, when able to lead and dictate the speed of the race without being challenged. He was of the view that his mount was obliged to settle outside the lead and this had a detrimental effect on the overall performance. He also advised the trainer that the horse would benefit from the addition of blinkers.

LILLOOET – Held up in the home straight until near the 150m.

HIDDEN LOVE – Jockey M. McGuren, rider of LILLOOET, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding, in that over the final stages he failed to make sufficient effort to stop riding and straighten LILLOOET and as a result shifted out and tightened the running of HIDDEN LOVE, which when tightened for room between HIDDEN LOVE and MAGNUS COR, had to be checked. Jockey McGuren was suspended from riding in races for a period of 9 days, to commence at midnight, 8 June and to expire at midnight, 17 June.

I GOT TRIX – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.

Race 7: James Boags CG&E Class 3 Plate – 1110m

MT ZIGGARO – Trainer T. Miller was reprimanded for presenting the horse to the enclosure without a nose roll, which was part of its advertised gear.

LORD TSCHARKE - The start was delayed when the horse was unable to be loaded into the barriers after a number of attempts and was declared a late scratching at 3.57 pm with the following deductions applicable.

MARSHAL – Shifted out near the 150m and brushed another runner.

CONFRONTING – Brushed by another runner near the 150m.

LITTLE CAPRI – Raced 3 wide.

KHALEEQ – Stewards questioned jockey M. Cahill regarding the riding tactics he adopted on the horse today, particularly in the early and middle stages where he led with SKYLIMIT to his outside, which resulted in a fast tempo. Jockey Cahill explained that he had no specific instructions although KHALEEQ’S normal racing pattern is to lead. M. Cahill further added that approaching the 800m when SKYLIMIT improved to his outside he attempted to restrain KHALEEQ to allow SKYLIMIT to cross, however KHALEEQ commenced to overrace and improved to the inside of SKYLIMIT. Stewards noted jockey M. Cahill’s explanation.

SKY LIMIT - Jockey T. Harrison was questioned regarding her riding tactics she adopted on SKYLIMIT when racing to the outside of KHALEEQ passing the 900m and applied pressure to that runner until crossing to the lead near the 600m. T. Harrison explained that SKY LIMIT began well and approaching the first turn when it became apparent she would be unable to cross KHALEEQ, she was reluctant to overly restrain SKYLIMIT as it has previously had a breathing operation and she felt that this would be detrimental to the horse’s chances. Stewards advised jockey T. Harrison that, in their opinion, she should have made greater effort to restrain her mount and race to the outside of KHALEEQ to give her mount the opportunity to relax and finish the race off. Stewards did not feel her riding was culpable under the Rules of Racing and as a result took no further action.
