GEOMETRIST – Inconvenienced at the start.

SCWHARZY – Hung in in the straight.

TEQUILA LOVE – Performed uncompetitively, finished tailed off. Trainer B. Snelling was advised that the horse’s nomination for metropolitan meetings would be refused until such time as the gelding establishes satisfactory provincial form.

IGNITE THE LIGHT – Inconvenienced at the start. Steadied when crowded for room near the 900m. Overraced in the middle stages. J. Byrne reported that once placed under pressure the colt failed to handle the prevailing track conditions.

Race 3: BECOME A BRC SOCIAL MEMBER QTIS 3YO MAIDEN H’CAP – 1110M

After viewing the stewards’ patrol footage, R. Wiggins, the rider of RHYMING, placed 2nd by the Judge, lodged an objection against CUSHION PINK being declared the winner, alleging interference from the 200m. After taking evidence and viewing the videos it was established that near the 150m RHYMING commenced to shift in of its own accord before CUSHION PINK shifted in and brushed RHYMING. Stewards found that any inconvenience suffered by RHYMING as a result of this incident was inconsequential to the margin separating both runners at the finish and therefore dismissed the protest.

CAPTAIN DODGE – Inconvenienced when crowded for room at the start. Raced four wide throughout.

ATTILA – Raced keenly and hung out from the first turn. Tailed out and then was eased down in the straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be slightly short-striding in front. Trainer N. Doyle was advised that the gelding would be required to trial satisfactorily before starting again.

STYLIAN – Raced three wide without cover.

ANOTHER SLIPPER – Buffeted for some distance from the 750m to the 600m and ultimately had to be restrained from heels near the 600m.

CLEVER BLAZE – Buffeted for some distance from the 750m to the 600m.

RHYMING – Slow to begin.

SISTER PATTI – Kicked by another runner behind the barriers, examined by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to race.

Race 4: WWW.BRC.COM.AU QTIS 3YO MAIDEN H’CAP – 1110M

MYMANCHARLES – Slow into stride. Hung out on the home turn.

CAPO DI TUTTI – When asked to comment on the gelding’s performance, J. Byrne indicated that the horse pulled very hard in the early and middle stages and in his opinion this had a detrimental effect on the horse’s finishing performance. He was also of the opinion that once he asked the horse for a response it did not handle the prevailing track conditions.

MIAZUMI – Bumped heavily near the 500m.

SHUDA KNOWN BETTER – Raced wide without cover. Inconvenienced near the 500m.

MADAM AMAROUGE – Checked away from heels near the 500m.

Race 5: COUNTRY MUSIC RACEDAY CLASS 5 H’CAP – 1640M

UMGENI – Shifted the off fore plate in running.

Race 6: BRIAN SPARGO MEMORIAL CLASS 4 H’CAP – 1050M

IRISH CONSTABULARY – Raced three wide without cover. Apprentice S. Eilbeck reported that the horse was bumped prior to straightening and then in her opinion was reluctant to stride out in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed an abrasion inside the near fore cannon.

FEW ARE CHOSEN – Slow into stride.

STELLARCRAFT – M. Cahill reported that the horse travelled moderately behind the leaders, however he did not believe that the gelding raced well in the soft track conditions. He added that when asked for an effort, the gelding failed to respond and was not at all comfortable when under pressure.

The track was upgraded to SOFT 6 after the running of this event.

Race 7: GALLOPERS SPORTS CLUB CLASS 3 H’CAP – 1200M

BOLD ATTRACTION – Bumped at the start. Hung out rounding the home turn. Lost both front plates in running. Trainer G. Taylor advised that it is now the intention to retire the horse from racing.

MARLENE ADELE – Bumped heavily on jumping.

OLSSON – R. Wiggins was fined $300 for using the whip more than 5 times prior to the 100m.

Race 8: SMIRNOFF MEKKA RACEDAY RATINGS BAND 0-65 H’CAP – 1640M

UNIQUE MISTIQUE – Steadied when crowded shortly after the start.

WATER BOY – Connections advised that the horse would be ridden further back in the field. The horse was ridden accordingly.

PEPPA JELLY – Inconvenienced shortly after the start.

BEST DANCE YET – Raced three wide throughout.

PERFECT RAINBOW – Stood flat-footed as the gates were released and took no part in the event. Trainer B. Snelling was advised that the mare must obtain a further barrier certificate prior to being permitted to race again.

Race 9: SUEZ CLASS 2 H’CAP – 1350M

BECKONING LIGHT – Steadied when crowded at the start.

KAPSTAR – Hung out in the middle stages when rounding the turns.

EXTRASAY – T. Harrison explained that the mare had a nice run in a handy position on the rail, had travelled well to the turn and on straightening she was confident that the horse would finish its race off. She said when afforded clear running at the top of the straight and placed under pressure, the mare did not quicken and gave ground. She added that she was of the opinion that as the mare has only ever raced on firm tracks, it may not have handled today’s soft track conditions.

NO MAGIC NEEDED – Slow into stride. Raced wide throughout.
