Race 1: www.brc.com.au QTIS 3yo Benchmark 65 H'cap – 1350m
 
RED SCARLET – Jockey S. Bogenhuber reported at scale that her mount failed to handle the track conditions today.
 
VIDARR – Apprentice J. Orman reported at scale the gelding failed to handle the track conditions and had a tendency to hang out throughout the race.
 
PRINCE OF FLANDERS – When questioned regarding the improved performance of the winner, trainer P. Duff advised  that he expected the colt to race well today given that  at its last  start it did not have a great deal of luck in a slowly run race, and  previous to that raced well  in a  3-year-old handicap at Eagle Farm.   



Race 2: Coca Cola Class 4 H'cap – 1650m
 
STELLA DI NOTTE – The start was delayed when the mare required farrier attention.
 
TOPENDING – Began awkwardly and bumped at the start.
 
ROCK ON IVY – Bumped at the start.  Laid in under pressure in the straight.
 
BUTCHER BLUE-  Jockey P. Hammersley reported that his mount lunged forward and made contact with the starting gate prior to the start. A post race veterinary examination revealed blood in its near-side nostril.   Stewards took no action against the horse.
 
 
Race 3: James Boags Maiden Plate – 1350m
 
MEADOW – Connections advised that the horse would be ridden more forward if circumstances permit.  The horse subsequently settled in a rearward position after sustaining interference at the start when tightened for room.   Tightened for room and had to be steadied near the 1300m.
 
PRESS CENTRE – Jumped away awkwardly.  A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.  Raced wide without cover.
 
CLEVER BLAZE – Had to be steadied when tightened for room at the 1300m.
 
ERCOLANO – Leaving the 1200m, after being taken in initially, commenced to overrace and shifted in abruptly, making contact  with the runner to its inside.
 
MISS AMIGO – Taken in near the 1100m and bumped.  Had to be steadied away from heels near the 1000m and shifted in.
 
IN KOBE – Hampered when taken in near the 1100m.
 
MUSHIN – Bumped by another runner near the 1100m.  Had to be steadied away from heels near the 1000m.
 
HUSSON BOOTS – Shifted in when overracing passing the 1000m.
 
 
Race 4: Canadian Club Melbourne Cup Day CG&E Benchmark 70 H'cap – 1050m
 
KNIGHT TEMPLAR – Due to a misunderstanding, the barrier blanket was not applied to the horse prior to the start.  Raced wide without cover.  Was accidentally struck over the head by the whip of jockey J. Byrne (THOMAS THE TANK)  near the 250m.
 
EXCELARTIE – Declared a late scratching at 12.05 pm on veterinary advice after the horse was showing signs of colic.
 
GRACIDA -  When being loaded into the barriers made contact  with the starting gate, dislodging its rider and galloping to the 1350m shute,  then jumped 2 panels of fencing, and  was and caught in  the 1600m shute.  The horse was subsequently declared a late scratching at 2.35 pm.  Subsequent to the event, all monies invested on Gracida were ordered to be refunded with the following deductions applicable to successful wagers placed prior to the withdrawal time.

Trainer T. Gollan indicated he would experiment with a barrier blanket for the horse prior to its next race start.  A post race veterinary examination revealed a minor laceration to the right hindquarters and an abrasion on the left hock.
 
CORRYVRECKAN – Jumped away awkwardly.
 
ALI  MOUNTAIN -  Apprentice B. Ainsworth reported at scale that her mount hung out in the early stages.
 
 
Race 5: UBET F&M Class 3 H'cap – 1350m
 
FLEUR D’ORANGE – Jumped away awkwardly.
 
SUGAR HIT – Bumped on jumping away.
 
NAME AN SHAME – Tightened for room shortly after the start.
 
SCRAP COPPER – Overraced when being steadied in the early stages.
 
JENNIFER JUNIPER – Had to be steadied near the 250m when attempting a run between SUGAR HIT and RED FUTURE.  Accidentally struck over the head by the whip of jockey M. Cahill, rider of SUGAR HIT.
 
LIGHT SHOWS – Held up for clear running from the 300m until near the 100m.
 
RED FUTURE – Raced wide without cover.
 
 
Race 6: Christmas Functions @ BRC CG&E Class 3 H'cap – 1350m
 
STAR FORMATION – Slow to begin. (3L)
 
BOURBON ROAD – Raced wide without cover.
 
 
 
 
 
 
Race 7: Clegg Media 20th Anniversary F&M Benchmark 70 H'cap – 1050m
 
ONE IN ONE OUT – Declared a late scratching at 1.05 pm due to the downgrading of the track.
 
ABRCADASH – Declared a late scratching at 2.05 due to the downgrading of the track.
 
HELLAROO - Raced wide without cover.
 
 
 
Race 8: Veuve Society Class 2 H'cap – 1200m
 
NILETTE – Knuckled on jumping away.
 
OTTO FROM HAMBURG – Got its head up and raced ungenerously for a short distance when being steadied shortly after the start.
 
CARRANGALL – Laid in under pressure in the straight.
