GENERAL



As G. Colless was overweight stewards permitted rider changes as per the Stewards Race Day Summary. G. Colless fined $200.00.



Race 1: JVR Off QTIS 2YO Fillies Plate – 1050m



FAIRY WINGS – Jumped awkwardly.



PRINCESS CAVALLO – Jumped awkwardly. Passing the 900m laid in away from other runners.



ARE WE READY – Slow to begin. Hung out leaving the 800m and continued to do so until after entering the straight. Trainer B. Baker advised that it was now his intention to spell the filly. Mr Baker was advised that the filly must trial to the satisfaction of stewards prior to starting again.



TIARA STAR – Slow to begin. Near the 800m had to be steadied away from heels.



OUR MYSTIFY – Hampered shortly after the start. Passing the 200m shifted in under pressure.



ROYAL MYTH – Attempted to buck shortly after the start. Passing the 900m had to be steadied away from heels. Trainer advised a warning would be placed on the filly.



STARENA – Near the 800m had to be steadied away from heels.



Following the running of this event the track was upgraded to a Good 3 retrospective.





Race 2: Skytrans QTIS 2YO Colts & Geldings Plate – 1050m



The start was delayed when MISPRINT became cast after being fractious in the barriers. After being examined by the veterinary surgeon MISPRINT was declared a late scratching at 1.06 p.m. by order of stewards acting on veterinary advice. All monies invested on MISPRINT were ordered to be refunded. Deductions applicable to bets placed on winner and placegetters prior to 1.06 p.m.:-



11 cents in the dollar for the win - #8 (OURS TO KEEP)

13 cents in the dollar for place of winner - #8 (OURS TO KEEP)

6 cents in the dollar for 2nd place - #9 (UNLIKELY STORY)

16 cents in the dollar for 3rd place - #2 (WONDER BOOM)



SP bets are subject.



EXCELEBRAZIONE – Bucked shortly after the start and took no competitive part in the race. Trainers P & W Hulbert were advised that the colt must trial to the satisfaction of stewards prior to its next start.



BOLD KINGSTON – Jumped awkwardly.



OURS TO KEEP – Jumped awkwardly.



WONDER BOOM – Inclined to lay out in the middle stages.



FLAMIN’ SID – Raced wide without cover throughout.





Race 3: Deppro Benchmark 75 H'Cap – 2200m



Connections advised on Wednesday 28 September 2016 that EMERALD CITY would be ridden with cover in this race. The gelding was ridden accordingly.



SCOTTI BE GOTTI – Tightened for room shortly after the start when slow to begin.



MCGILL – Raced wide without cover until near the 1200m.



SO HOT – After leaving the 1000m shifted out to obtain a position behind SCOTTI BE GOTTI.



WAR BABY – Forced wider after leaving the 1000m and raced 3 wide without cover for the remainder of the event.



ANNAMAN – Held up passing the 600m and again approaching the 400m.

JUST KEEP GIVING – Held up rounding the home turn and did not obtain clear running until near the 200m.



ALAKRIS – Jockey J.P. Stanley reported at scale that his mount overraced in the middle stages when the pace steadied.



Race 4: Qld Accounting Group Open H'Cap – 1050m



As A. Denby was indisposed due to injury stewards permitted J. Taylor to be substituted as the rider of BAGGER CHANCE.



SPORTING PAGE – Examined by the veterinary surgeon after arriving on course and was passed fit to start.



THE CONSPIRATOR after the race was pulled up in the back straight. Correct weight was declared in the absence of its rider T. Harrison. A post race veterinary examination of the gelding revealed it had injured its near fore suspensory ligament. Trainer T. Sears was advised that a veterinary clearance will be required prior to the gelding being permitted to race again.



LE CAP – Reared as the gates opened and lost considerable ground. Trainer D. Hansen was advised that the gelding would have to obtain a barrier certificate prior to racing again.



EXCELARTIE – Approaching the home turn shifted out to improve taking another runner wider on the track. Taken out after passing the 400m and made contact with another runner and became unbalanced.



HANDYMAN BOB – Forced wider on the track approaching the home turn. Bumped on the hind quarters near the 350m and became unbalanced.



THE STOREMAN – On entering the straight shifted out and bumped THOMAS THE TANK, which became unbalanced in this incident. Jockey R. Fradd reported that for some distance after leaving the 600m his mount had to be continually steadied away from heels and near the 350m shifted out and bumped another runner.



THOMAS THE TANK – Raced wide without cover throughout.



Race 5: Spyre Group QTIS 3YO H'Cap – 1600m



Stewards considered an objection lodged by J. Lloyd the rider of BALBOA ROCKS which finished second against HI HARRY (J. Byrne) being declared the winner on the grounds of alleged interference near the 100m. On the evidence it was established that approaching the 100m both horses shifted ground and bumped. Stewards could not be satisfied that the interference warranted a reversal of placings and therefore dismissed the objection.



HI HARRY – Shifted in abruptly on jumping away. Shifted in near the 200m and made contact with another runner.



RED SCARLET – Jumped awkwardly, made contact with another runner and was then tightened for room shortly after the start.

CLEVER BLAZE – Bumped on jumping away and then tightened for room shortly after the start. Held up rounding the home turn and had difficulty obtaining clear running in the straight.



MOBILE – Bumped on jumping away.



GOOD LUCK MALELA – Bumped on the hind quarters shortly after the start and became unbalanced. Near the 1000m had to steady away from heels.



CAPTAIN DODGE – Near the 1400m was bumped and tightened for room by GOOD LUCK MALELA. Raced wide in the early and middle stages. Approaching the 200m was bumped by another runner. Raced wide throughout. Returned to the enclosure with blood in its off side nostril. Trainer C. Munce advised the gelding must gallop over 1000m in the presence of a steward prior to racing again.



SHARP SPEEDO – Held up for clear running for some distance after leaving the 500m.



MOLA RAM – Held up rounding the home turn. After passing the 400m brushed the running rail and became unbalanced. Held up after this incident until the 250m. and was accidentally struck over the head by the whip of T. Harrison (CLEVER BLAZE).



Race 6: Rusty’s Firewood Class 3 Plate – 1350m



HENRYVONHUFEISEN was declared a late scratching at 10.40 a.m. acting on veterinary advice after the gelding was found to be lame in the near fore leg. Trainer G.Duncan advised

a veterinary clearance will be required prior to the gelding racing again.



LOST CLASSIC – Slow to begin.



SHADOW LAWN – Finished at the rear of the field. A post race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be lame in the near fore leg. Trainer B. Baldwin was advised that a veterinary clearance will be required prior to the mare racing again. Mr Baldwin advised that the mare would now be sent for a spell.



I CAN’T SEE WHO – Jockey G. Colless reported that the gelding hung for the majority of the event. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormality.



Race 7: Qld Accounting Group Open H’Cap – 1350m



After arriving at the start TUKIYO was examined by the veterinary surgeon and found to be lame in the off fore leg. TUKIYO was declared a late scratching at 4.12 p.m. by order of stewards. All monies invested on TUKIYO were ordered to be refunded. Deductions applicable to bets placed on winner and placegetters prior to 4.12 p.m.:-



3 cents in the dollar for the win - #1 (JOPA)

3 cents in the dollar for place of winner - #1 (JOPA)

2 cents in the dollar for 2nd place - #11(DESERT GENERAL)

3 cents in the dollar for 3rd place - #10 (DREAM FINISH)

Trainer J. Dann will be advised that TUKIYO will require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again.



KUDERO – After leaving the 1200m hung in and had to be checked off heels.



DESERT GENERAL – Held up rounding the home turn and did not obtain clear running until near the 300m.



TOTAL AUTHORITY – Passing the 900m had to be steadied away from heels. Held up in the early stages of the straight.



DARCI BE GOOD – Raced wide without cover throughout.



JOPA – Raced wide without cover throughout.



Race 8: Qld Accounting Group Class 6 Plate – 1200m



LAND OFFICE – Trainer S. Ryan advised the horse will be ridden more forward today if circumstances permit. Settled outside the leader.



MAN OF HIS WORD – Jumped away awkwardly and lost ground.



RECKLESS ABANDON – Near the 1000m had to be steadied. Approaching the 800m had to be checked off heels.



SHAMFRANCISCO – Near the 1000m was tightened for room and had to be steadied.



TOP TONE – Passing the 800m had to be steadied off heels.



QUATRONIC – Finished at the rear of the field. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding lame in the near hind leg.



G. Colless the rider of LAND OFFICE was reprimanded for using his whip on more than 5 occasions prior to the 100m.



PIENKNA – Lost an off fore plate in running.
