GENERAL
 
As A. Spinks was injured, riding replacements were made as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.
 
Race 1: ARCHITECTS DOVEY DASH QTIS 2YO H’CAP – 1050M
 
PURE LUCK – Late scratching at 10:00 am for veterinary reasons.
 
MISPRINT – Fractious in the mounting yard, reared up and dislodged its rider. Trainer J. Zielke was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding’s pre-race manners. Laid in under pressure in the straight.
 
PINCH PASSION – Slow to begin. Raced three wide without cover. When afforded the opportunity to comment on the gelding’s below-market performance, jockey J. Byrne stated that the horse was not suited by the slow tempo, however was nonetheless disappointing. He added that the gelding would take benefit from today’s event.
 
WHO AM I – Slow to begin.
 
Following the running of this event the track was upgraded to GOOD 3.
 
Race 2: BANK OF QLD WYNNUM 1MW H’CAP – 1615M
 
BRAZEN MOSS – Got its head up approaching the first turn and hung in abruptly away from another runner.
 
DECONSTRUCTED – Began very awkwardly and was then slow into stride. D. Browne reported that the gelding was under pressure from the 700m and did not respond to his riding. Connections advised that the horse may be sent for a spell. A post-race veterinary examination revealed lameness behind, in particular the off hind leg. Trainer L. Birchley was advised that the horse would require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again.
 
FIRE WITHIN – G. Colless reported that the gelding travelled well, however it felt awkward in its action in the straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
LORD COCONUTS – Held up rounding the home turn. Lost the near hind plate in running.
 
DANTGA – Pulled hard in the middle stages.
 
SILENTO – Held up in the early stages of the straight.
 
NEARCTIC CHILLER – After racing three wide in the early stages was allowed to stride forward to eventually cross to the lead near the 1000m.
 
Race 3: JOHN CARROLL ELECTRICAL QTIS 3YO H’CAP – 1200M
 
BAGUS – Lost the near hind plate in running.
 
BITHARD – J. Lloyd reported at scale that his mount, in his opinion, did not appreciate the addition of blinkers today, was inclined to overrace and hung out throughout the middle stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
ANOTHER SLIPPER – Began awkwardly and was slow into stride. J. Morris was fined $200 for weighing in in excess of half a kilogram over his allotted weight.
 
GRACEFULLY CHIC – Commenced to overrace approaching the first turn and was checked from heels.
 
RUMBA QUEEN – Raced wide without cover.
 
WINDCATCHER – Slow into stride.
 
Race 4: ST COLUMBA’S CENTENARY OPEN H’CAP – 1615M
 
TRANSPORTER – Raced wide in the early stages, was allowed to stride forward and crossed to the lead near the 900m.
 
Race 5: RACEBIZ BENCHMARK 75 H’CAP – 1200M
 
MISTER BOOZE – Began awkwardly.
 
SELFIE – Slow to begin after standing awkwardly with its head to the side when the gates opened.
 
FRIENDLY DRAGON – Finished a distant last. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
Race 6: IONA OLD BOYS’ BENCHMARK 75 H’CAP – 1200M
 
HEZA BOBBY DAZZLER – Began awkwardly and was then slow to muster speed.
 
LOVE AND LIES – Raced three wide without cover.
 
MAGAZINE MISS – Slow into stride.
 
Race 7: EDB TRAINING SERVICES OPEN H’CAP – 2020M
 
BEST CASE – Held up rounding the home turn.
 
DENONINATOR – Pulled hard in the early and middle stages and from the 900m raced wide without cover. Had to be checked when attempting to improve to the inside of another runner near the 500m where there was insufficient room. Held up rounding the home turn.
 
MR ONE ELEVEN – Reared as the gates opened, consequently lost considerable ground and took no competitive part in the event. Trainer S. O’Dea was advised that he will be required to obtain a further barrier certificate for the gelding prior to it being permitted to race again.
 
MY DIAMANTINE – Stewards permitted apprentice B. Grylls to replace A. Spinks as rider when no other suitable senior rider was available. Held up rounding the home turn.
 
Race 8: HARCOURTS GREEN LIVING CLASS 3 PLATE – 1110M
 
DRAM OF RED – Bled from both nostrils. As this was the second occasion on which the gelding has bled, it will now incur a mandatory lifetime ban from racing.
 
GRACIDA – Raced three wide without cover.
 
PERDU – Accidentally struck over the head by the whip of J. Orman (CLANG’S VICTORY) inside the 100m.
 
ZOU DER ZEE – Slow into stride.
 
CLANG’S VICTORY – Trainer D. Want was fined $100 for the late declaration of J. Orman as rider. Hung in over the concluding stages.
 
TIN’S POCKET – Slow to begin. Hung out after leaving the 500m and continued to do so until entering the straight.
 
Race 9: BARTONS CLASS 6 PLATE – 1350M
 
PERA PERA – Raced three wide without cover throughout. Laid in under pressure in the straight.
 
PYTHAGOREAN – Got its near hind leg over the rear barrier gate, removed from the barriers, examined by the veterinary surgeon and declared a late scratching at 5:16 pm on veterinary advice that the gelding was lame in the near hind leg. Stewards ordered that all monies invested on PYTHAGOREAN be refunded, with the following deductions to apply to successful wagers:
 
            0 cent in the dollar for the Win #16
            1 cent in the dollar for place of winner #16
            1 cent in the dollar for 2nd place #8
            1 cent in the dollar for 3rd place #3
 
PRIVLAKA – Had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early stages of the straight.
