She stated that the instructions were similar to the previous start when the gelding won at Doomben to have ANTON EN AVANT racing wherever comfortable. She indicated that after travelling a short distance she felt that she would be placed one off the fence, however, MY GIULIANO improved to her inside which forced her to race three wide. She added that she went forward and was of the belief that EMPHASIS might go to the fence but unfortunately that did not happen and she then was in a position three wide without cover. She added that ANTON EN AVANT was under pressure from the 600m. Race 2: WATPAC QTIS 2YO H’CAP – 1050M ONLY WANNA SING – Had to steady away from heels near the 700m. Bumped near the 600m. R. After dislodging the rider en route to the barriers, the filly jumped the false rail near the 1350m chute, was quickly recaptured, inspected by the veterinary surgeon and passed fit to race. Co-trainer P. Hulbert was questioned regarding the horse’s improved performance. He stated that at its previous start the filly did not run on after travelling well and he was of the opinion that it may not have appreciated the track conditions on that occasion. He added that the filly is better suited on rain-affected tracks. SOLO MELODY – Restless in the barriers, reared as the gates opened and lost ground. Bumped on the hind quarters after leaving the 300m. SWEET ORPHAN – Shifted out abruptly to avoid the heels of a tiring runner near the 300m and made contact with another runner. Race 5: CATALINA SOUNDS QTIS 3YO C&G H’CAP – 1050M ST PATRICKS DAY – Held up for some distance approaching the home turn. REDEX – M.
