Race 1: SELECT FIRE SYSTEMS DOOMBEN PLATE – 1050M
ATOMIC FEATHER – Slow to begin.
COUNT THE COIN – Momentarily held up rounding the home turn.
DUSTY TYCOON – D. Smith pleaded guilty to a charge under AR131(c) of making a celebratory gesture prior to the finish line and was fined $300.
MISS LOT WON – Jumped awkwardly. Raced greenly throughout and near the 450m hung out towards the heels of AVNO DOUBT and had to be steadied.
BLOODBLISTER – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
AVNO DOUBT – Apprentice S. Thornton could offer no tangible explanation for the filly’s disappointing performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed that the filly had mild heat stress. A further veterinary examination revealed lameness in the off fore fetlock. Trainer G. Portelli was advised that the filly will require a veterinary clearance prior to being permitted to race again.
SIP IT SLOW – Jumped awkwardly and lost some ground. Raced greenly in the home straight.
Race 2: TAB SUMMER RACING CARNIVAL BENCHMARK 70 H'CAP – 1630M
CLEVANICC – Slow to begin.
PALACE TYCOON – Steadied from heels over the final stages.
FABULONH – Restrained from a wide barrier in the early stages to gain a position closer to the rail. Had to be eased from the heels of ENTERPRISE MOSS approaching the 100m.
OUR BEATNIK – Slow to begin.
SO DAPPER – L. Cassidy explained that after being a little slow to begin he rode aggressively to cross the main body of the field and when he eventually raced outside the leader CEOL NA MARA the horse never travelled comfortably and when placed under pressure prior to the home turn failed to respond to his riding and weakened in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings. Connections confirmed that the horse would be sent for a spell.
TYCOON STREET – Raced three wide throughout with cover.
LAST LIGHT – Raced three wide throughout.
NO REFUND – Raced three wide throughout.
SILENT FLYER – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
ENTERPRISE MOSS – Obliged to alter course to the outside approaching the 100m when racing behind SO DAPPER, which was weakening.
IPSO NEM FELEK – Had to be eased from the heels of SIMPLE SACRED, which shifted in when not quite clear, near the 1300m. R. Maloney, the rider of SIMPLY SACRED, was reprimanded and advised to show greater care when shifting ground.
Race 3: TAB 2019 COUNTRY CUPS CHALLENGE (FINAL) NO METRE WINS LAST 2 YRS QLTY – 1630M
FAB’S COWBOY – Raced three wide with cover.
FRENCH HUSSLER – Raced three wide without cover.
CLOUDS – Raced three wide with cover.
HIDDEN BUDGET – Raced three wide with cover.
MONEY AD – Struck the running rail when entering the track, underwent a veterinary examination behind the barriers and was cleared to start.
RITCHFORD – Became unbalanced approaching the 1300m when bumped by THE BAKER. Held up approaching and rounding the home turn.
SAN VINCENZO – As R. Wiggins was to be overweight, M. Du Plessis was substituted as rider. R. Wiggins was fined $200.
BUXTON – Raced ungenerously with its head in the air when being restrained in the early stages. Held up approaching and rounding the home turn.
MUSTARRID – Tightened for room shortly after the start between CLOUDS and FRENCH HUSSLER, which shifted out slightly. Raced four wide without cover throughout.
STONE WARRIOR – Had difficulty obtaining clear running in the home straight.
Race 4: TAB WINNING RUPERT – 1200M
READY TO ROAM – When asked for an explanation about the horse’s disappointing performance, apprentice B. Nothdurft said the horse became fractious prior to the race and when forced wider approaching the home turn did not respond to his riding from that point and was disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slightly slower than normal post-race recovery.
MASTER JAMIE – Jumped awkwardly. Raced three wide without cover. Hung out despite the efforts of its rider from the 600m and proved difficult to ride rounding the home turn.
MAGIC BEANS – Hampered when bumped at the start. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.
ELEVEN ELEVEN – Bumped on the hindquarters at the start.
KALIK – Bumped soon after he start.
LE PALMIER – Bumped at the start.
BATTLE STRIKE – Jumped awkwardly, shifted in and bumped LE PALMIER.
SNAZZ ‘N’ CHARM – Raced three wide with cover. Steadied approaching the 400m when BATTLE STRIKE shifted out to improve.
Race 5: BRC CHRISTMAS MOVIES BENCHMARK 78 H'CAP – 1110M
BRING IT HOME POP – Had to be checked to avoid the heels of ARCHER’S PARADOX passing the 1000m, and when checked, continued to lose ground which resulted in MUSICAL GENIUS, which was also shifting in, becoming awkward on the heels of BRING IT HOME POP and shifting in further across the rightful running of ROCK BEAT, which clipped the heels of MUSICAL GENIUS and blundered badly, losing ground as a result. J. Byrne, the rider of VIENNA POWER, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under AR131(a) in that he permitted his mount to shift in near the 1000m, making heavy contact with ARCHER’S PARADOX, which in turn was taken in across BRING IT HOME POP, which had to be checked from the heels of ARCHER’S PARADOX. Jockey Byrne’s licence to ride in races was suspended for 7 days, commencing midnight Monday 9 December and expiring midnight Monday 16 December 2019. In determining penalty, stewards took into account jockey Byrne’s extremely good record in relation to this rule.
ROCK BEAT – Clipped heels passing the 1000m, blundered badly and lost ground. Apprentice B. Nothdurft reported that the horse did not travel and was eased down in the home straight, which he attributed to the early interference suffered. A post-race veterinary examination revealed minor lacerations to the off fore and near hind legs and that the gelding had cast the off hind plate. Stewards will follow up in coming days with trainer T. Sears regarding the horse’s post-race recovery. A swab sample was taken.
SKY LAKE – Brushed the running rail for some distance approaching the 600m.
LIFESAVER – Bumped at the start. Raced three wide without cover throughout.
ARCHER’S PARADOX – Bumped heavily approaching the 1000m and was then taken inwards.
MUSICAL GENIUS – Became awkward on heels passing the 1000m and shifted in.
CLOCKWISE – Jumped awkwardly, shifted in and bumped LIFESAVER.
Race 6: HAMILTON HOTEL BENCHMARK 90 H'CAP – 2030M
LORD GODODDIN was a late scratching at 4:04 pm by order of stewards acting on veterinary advice. On the announcement of correct weight stewards ordered that all monies invested on LORD GODODDIN be refunded, with the following deductions to apply to successful wagers placed prior to 4:04 pm:
9 cents in the dollar for the win #14
6 cents in the dollar for place of winner #14
10 cents in the dollar for 2nd place #8
9 cents in the dollar for 3rd place #1
FIGHTING TEO – Shifted in near the 300m and made contact with the running rail.
CAPITAL GAIN – Held up and bumped in the early part of the home straight.
ZOURKHAN – Overraced in the early stages. Held up rounding the home turn and in the early part of the home straight shifted out and bumped CAPITAL GAIN.
ENDLESS DAYS – Forced wider near the 500m.
SIR BARNABUS – Raced three wide without cover in the early stages before being ridden forward to race outside the leader near the 1100m.
SKYTREK – Had to be eased from the heels of the tiring RUBY GURU when attempting a narrow run inside the 100m and then had to alter course to the outside of the runner in order to improve.
Race 7: TAB MODE PLATE – 1200M
VINCERE VOLARE – Slow to begin. Raced three wide.
OH FIVE GLORY – Knuckled at the start and lost ground.
LONGBOTTOM – Bumped by KARAJA at the start and soon afterwards commenced to buck and shifted out, making contact with EURO BELLE. LONGBOTTOM continued to buck for some distance and as a result was eased down and took no competitive part in the race. Stable representative Mr M. Eggleston was advised that LONGBOTTOM must compete satisfactorily in a trial prior to racing again.
HOWWONDERFULLIFEIS – Severely hampered at the start.
KARAJA – Shifted out at the start and bumped LONGBOTTOM.
SUGAR BOOM – Jumped inwards at the start, resulting in HOWWONDERFULLIFEIS, INGEAR, and DEVINE FACTOR being severely hampered.
ZAC ATTACK – Began to overrace near the 800m and became awkward at the heels of SHOOTING LOVE and as a result shifted out and raced three wide without cover from that point.
JEWELIANA – Raced three wide.
DEVINE FACTOR – Severely hampered at the start.
EURO BELLE – Bumped by LONGBOTTOM soon after the start.
INGEAR – Severely hampered at the start. Had to alter course to the outside of OUR SWAN LAKE near the 200m in order to improve. Held up in the early part of the home straight. Had to again alter course to the outside of SHOOTING LOVE inside the 100m.
Race 8: TAB GEORGE MOORE STAKES – 1200M
CRACK ME UP – Raced four wide without cover throughout.
BOOMSARA – Raced three wide without cover.
MONSIEUR GUSTAVE – Raced three wide.
OUTBACK BARBIE – Raced three wide.
RIVER RACER – Raced three wide with cover.
KEEN ARRAY – Overraced in the early stages.
CHAPTER AND VERSE – Overraced in the early stages and had to be restrained near the 800m from the heels of REMOVAL.
REMOVAL – Held up rounding the home turn and in the early part of the home straight.
SHARPE HUSSLER – Had to alter course to avoid the heels of DIVINE DICE near the 300m.
Race 9: TAB QTIS CLASS 6 PLATE – 1350M
VALARIO – Overraced in the early stages.
SOXAGON – Slow to begin. Had to be checked near the 1100m, clipped the heels of MACEWEN, blundered and lost ground. Apprentice B. Nothdurft, the rider of MACEWEN, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR131(a) in that at that point he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of SOXAGON. Apprentice Nothdurft’s licence to ride in races was suspended for 12 days, commencing midnight Saturday 30 November and expiring midnight Thursday 12 December 2019. Commenced to overrace near the 800m when the pace steadied and became awkward on the heels of MACEWEN.
