Nothdurft (DIXIE)Race 1: ANZAC DAY RACES 25 APRIL QTIS 2YO H'CAP – 1200MMISHANI REBEL – Became fractious in the tie-up stalls after arriving on course, examined by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to start. Began awkwardly, unbalancing its rider. DISARMED – Bumped at the start. Had to be steadied away from the heels of SASSY ENUFF when the pace slackened passing the 800m.DOCTOR JACK – Overraced after passing the 1000m and near the 800m, when the pace steadied, got its head up when being restrained and had to be checked off the heels of DISARMED. Held up rounding the home turn.OUTMATCH – Laid in approaching the 400m.XERRI – Began awkwardly.STAROSA – Slow to begin. Improved on to the heels of OUTMATCH passing the 600m and had to be restrained. Crowded for room approaching the 400m when OUTMATCH laid in.Race 2: CALEB TRUST RACEDAY 21 MARCH MAIDEN H'CAP – 1350MThe declaration of correct weight was delayed to allow M. Du Plessis, the rider of the 3rd placegetter ADELASE, to exercise his rights to view the footage over the final stages to determine whether he had grounds on which to lodge an objection. After viewing the videos jockey Du Plessis declined to proceed.PHOENIX RAIDER – Bumped shortly after the start. Raced three wide with cover throughout. Approaching the 400m had to be steadied away from the heels of LADY BELZONE, which shifted out to improve. Apprentice J. Huxtable, the rider of LADY BELZONE, was reprimanded under AR131(a) for shifting ground when not fully clear.CITY SMART – Held up for clear running from the 300m to the 100m.LADY BELZONE – Slow to begin.ADELASE – Disappointed for a run to the outside of HOPEFUL STAR approaching the 100m before altering course back to the inside to secure clear running.DENCH – Held up rounding the home turn. Disappointed for a run to the outside of HOPEFUL STAR passing the 300m.GRENADIERS – Raced three wide with cover. Bumped by DENCH passing the 300m.JUST WISHING – Slow to begin. Commenced to overrace passing the 1200m and approaching the 1000m improved on to heels and had to be restrained. Improved on to heels approaching the 100m and went to the line without being fully tested.HOPEFUL STAR – Raced three wide without cover throughout. Laid out under pressure approaching the 100m, causing its rider to stop riding and straighten.MOSSFAIR – Fractious in the barriers prior to the start being effected. Had to be steadied approaching the 100m when crowded for room.Race 3: FAMILY RACEDAY 4 APRIL BENCHMARK 65 H'CAP – 2040MFASTNET CYCLONE – A post-race veterinary examination revealed that the gelding had bled from one nostril. Trainer S. Kendrick was advised that the horse would be required to gallop satisfactorily over 1000m in the presence of a steward before being permitted to race again.MISHANI SCOUT – Had to be steadied passing the 600m when awkwardly placed at the heels of CORSINI, which shifted out to improve. L. Tilley, the rider of CORSINI, was advised to exercise greater care when shifting ground in similar circumstances.CATCH ME LATAR – Restrained at the start from a wide barrier to find a position closer to the rail at the rear of the field. When asked to explain the tactics adopted, jockey J. Bayliss explained that after being moderately away he restrained to try to find a position closer to the rail. He added that at a point passing the 800m he was of the opinion that he did not want to shift wider on the course and track up behind ROMAN DOLL, which he believed would not take him into the race, and therefore he elected to wait and ride for luck. He further stated that approaching the 600m a run presented itself between BARBADOS STORM and ANARCHY, which he took, and he was satisfied with the manner in which the gelding finished the race off. Stewards noted the explanation.CONSULAR – B. Stewart pleaded guilty to a charge of using the whip more than the permitted amount prior to the 100m and was fined $300.LADY SOLERNO – Blundered on jumping.HUSSON’S PRIDE – Shifted three wide to improve passing the 800m. Forced wider on the course shortly after passing the 600m by MISHANI SCOUT, which was taken out by CORSINI. Race 4: OLIVIA’S RACEDAY 28 MARCH CLASS 4 H'CAP – 1050MSTARVIRGO – Raced four wide without cover throughout.SAXOPHONE – Caught wide from a wide barrier and was restrained to find a position closer to the rail at the rear of the field.THINE IS THE POWER – As A. Mallyon was not riding due to personal reasons, B. Nothdurft was substituted as the rider of the mare.SHE’S SPICY – Slow to muster speed.GEMELLI – As M. Cahill was to be overweight, A. Allen was substituted as the rider of the gelding. Raced three wide without cover throughout. Stewards accepted jockey Cahill’s explanation.BETAJET – Raced three wide with cover. The saddle shifted back after passing the 800m, placing the rider in some difficulty in riding her mount out over the final stages.BOLGHARI – Improved on to heels passing the 600m and had to be steadied. Lost the off fore plate in running.Race 5: PINK PICNIC 19 APRIL BENCHMARK 70 H'CAP – 1640MCOUNTESS DE GALVEZ was a late scratching at 7:40 am.DOWNLOADING – Shifted three wide passing the 1300m and raced three wide without cover from that point. Bumped by ARTERIAL approaching the winning post.ARTERIAL – Laid out over the final 200m.COASTAL PRINCE – Slow to begin. Commenced to overrace passing the 1100m and when being restrained shifted in, bumping INVIGORATING. Raced in restricted room approaching the home turn between DOWNLOADING and WESTHAM for a short distance.WESTHAM – Trainer T. Gollan advised that the horse would be ridden in the second half of the field. The horse was ridden accordingly. Restrained shortly after jumping to a rearward position and when in a rearward position raced keenly for the majority of the event. Shifted three wide to improve approaching the 600m. Forced wider approaching the home turn when runners to the inside shifted out to improve.FAIRY ME HOME – Improved on to the heels of TROMMELSCHLAGEN passing the 700m and had to be restrained. Held up rounding the home turn. Laid in under pressure over the final 100m.INVIGORATING – Slow to begin. Crowded for room passing the 1100m by COASTAL PRINCE, which shifted in. Crowded for room and brushed the running rail passing the 800m when bumped by COASTAL PRINCE, which shifted in.ROCBOLT – Slow to begin and then was crowded between runners shortly after the start.CYCLONE PATH – Caught wide in the early stages before striding forward to obtain the lead approaching the 900m. Weakened badly in the home straight and finished a distant last. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have bled from both nostrils and also to be exhibiting cardiac arrhythmia. Trainer J. Zielke was advised that the gelding would be ineligible to start for 3 months and prior to resuming racing must gallop satisfactorily over 1000m in the presence of a steward and must trial satisfactorily, and that he must produce a veterinary clearance, including the results of an ECG, for the horse.Race 6: RANVET CLASS 2 H'CAP – 1200MCINNAMON MISSILE – Had to be steadied off the heels of GOOD HUMOUR passing the 200m and alter course to the inside. Again improved on to heels over the final 100m and went to the line without being fully tested.FISTICUFFS – Laid in under pressure passing the 100m, causing its rider to stop riding and straighten.VINCO – Slow to begin.BROCKY – Laid in approaching the 100m and became awkwardly placed at the heels of MITTERE.GANGIKA – Commenced to overrace passing the 800m when in a trailing position.TOUGH TIMES – Raced keenly approaching the 800m and had to be steadied from heels.DIXIE – Raced keenly approaching the 800m.Race 7: TAB QTIS 3YO H'CAP – 1350MQUEENOFTHECASTLE – Underwent a veterinary examination after sustaining an injury after arriving on course, was found to be lame in the off foreleg and was declared a late scratching at 4:36 pm. The horse was treated by the veterinary surgeon prior to leaving the course.CLASS OR ROYALTY – Raced three wide with cover. Forced wider approaching the home turn.COMMAND’N’CONQUER – Began awkwardly. Raced three wide without cover throughout.LET’S CONQUER – Held up for clear running near the 300m and was obliged to shift wider on the course to improve and in doing so bumped heavily with STAR CENTRE.STAR CENTRE – Bumped heavily by LET’S CONQUER approaching the 250m.IAMICAN – Raced keenly in the early stages and passing the 800m had to be steadied away from the heels of MISHANI BLOSSOM. Commenced to weaken after passing the 300m and finished tailed off. Jockey M. Hellyer reported that the horse made an abnormal respiratory noise on pulling up. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the horse to be suffering from cardiac arrhythmia. Mr Vandyke was advised that IAMICAN must trial satisfactorily and he must produce a veterinary clearance, including the results of an ECG, prior to the filly being permitted to race again.SPLENDARAMA – As B. Thornton was not riding due to illness, M. Du Plessis was substituted as the rider of the filly. Bumped on jumping.Race 8: NATIONAL JOCKEYS TRUST BENCHMARK 68 H'CAP – 1350MGREAT KEPPELL – Held up from the 400m until approaching the 100m and was obliged to shift back to the inside to secure clear running.MEDICINE BALL – Appeared to falter on pulling up and the rider dismounted. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have sustained an injury to its near fore tendon. The horse was subsequently treated on course prior to leaving the track. Trainer J. Shelton was advised that a veterinary clearance would need to be provided prior to the horse racing again.AMICITIA – Raced three wide with cover throughout.FOXPACK – Raced three wide without cover throughout.MONACO SNOB – Restrained to a rearward position shortly after the start. J. Bayliss was reminded of his obligations regarding his use of the whip.LOLA’S DIAMOND – Held up from the 300m until approaching the 100m and then when attempting to shift wider on the course laid in and became awkwardly placed at the heels of FOXPACK and went to the line without being fully tested.DASHING SPECIAL – Due to a clerical error the horse was advertised to race in blinkers and a tongue-tie.
