Race 1: TAB QTIS 3YO MAIDEN PLATE – 1200M
 
The declaration of correct weight was delayed to allow apprentice B. Nothdurft, the rider of equal 2nd placegetter ANGUS THE BLACK, to view the photo finish image of the deadheat for 2nd. After viewing the photo, apprentice Nothdurft indicated he was satisfied with the Judge’s placings and correct weight was declared.
 
ANGUS THE BLACK – Restrained at the start to the rear of the field from the outside barrier. Held up in the home straight until inside the final 100m.
 
DEGAS – Slow to begin. Raced erratically in the early stages and shifted out abruptly near the 900m despite the efforts of its rider and then continued to race fiercely and hung out when racing four wide without cover. Hung out in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed lacerations to the inside of both cheeks. Trainer C. Munce was advised that the gelding must compete in a trial to the satisfaction of stewards prior to being permitted to race again.
 
HEARTS DENIED – Jumped awkwardly. Held up in the early stages of the home straight.
 
NOTTA LOVER – Raced three wide without cover.
 
TIMOTHY – Had to be checked near the 900m from the heels of DEGAS, which shifted out.
 
EXPERT EYE – Overraced in the early stages.
 
 
 
KUSAMA – Slow to begin.
 
OXFORD MISS – Forced wider near the 900m and from that point raced four wide with cover.
 
Race 2: ASCOT CHILDCARE & KINDY BENCHMARK 80 H'CAP – 2200M
 
The start of this race was delayed when QUALITY SEEKER had to be resaddled, and then further delayed when the horse had to be attended to by the farrier after its near fore and near hind plates had become detached.
 
QUALITY SEEKER – Raced three wide from the 1100m before improving forward to race outside the leader ILWENDO. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the horse to be sore in the near fore foot. Connections were advised that they will be required to provide a veterinary certificate of fitness prior to the horse racing again.
 
Race 3: NUTURF QTIS 2YO H'CAP – 1350M
 
EXPOSED SECRET was a late scratching at 12:47 pm on veterinary advice after it was found to have lacerations to the near fore knee. On the announcement of correct weight stewards ordered that all monies invested on EXPOSED SECRET be refunded, with the following deductions to apply to successful wagers placed prior to 12:47 pm:

1 cent in the dollar for place of winner #1
2 cents in the dollar for 2nd place #11
1 cent in the dollar for 3rd place #10
 
MISHANI EPIC – Slow to begin.
 
RORY’S REWARD – Cast the near fore plate during the race. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
MISHANI UNSPOKEN – Put in an awkward stride and became unbalanced near the 200m.
 
Race 4: CHANDON MAIDEN PLATE – 1350M
 
TOUCAN SAM – Overraced in the early and middle stages and near the 600m shifted out and bumped KRONDORF.
 
KRONDORF – Jumped awkwardly. Raced three wide without cover. Hampered near the 600m by TOUCAN SAM, which shifted out. Trainer R. Heathcote was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding’s barrier manners.
 
SLIGHTLY SHADY – Bumped by FIORENTE STAR near the 100m.
 
BLACKBOOTS – Began awkwardly, shifted out and hampered VALIDAR.
 
ICONISTA – Hampered at the start.
 
LADY BELZONE – Trainer D. Bougoure was fined $100 for failing to declare apprentice S. Thornton as the rider of the filly by the prescribed time. Stood flat-footed at the start, losing significant ground, and then trailed the field throughout and took no competitive part in the race. Trainer D. Bougoure was advised that he must obtain a further barrier certificate prior to racing again.
 
FIORENTE STAR – Shifted out at the 100m and bumped SLIGHTLY SHADY.
 
VALIDAR – Hampered at the start by BLACKBOOTS, which shifted out.
 
WITCHEL – Difficult to load. Trainer C. Munce was advised that the filly will be required to obtain a further barrier certificate prior to racing again. Hampered at the start. Raced three wide with cover.

Race 5: LEXUS CLASS 3 PLATE – 1615M
 
IPSO NEM FELEK – Held up until approaching the 100m.
 
SPEAKING BAD – Held up rounding the home turn. Restrained from the heels of STANDING OVATION near the 300m when that runner shifted out. B. Stewart, the rider of STANDING OVATION, was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances. Held up until passing the 200m.
 
STANDING OVATION – Held up rounding the home turn. Shifted out at the 300m, inconveniencing SPEAKING BAD.
 
HOPEFUL STAR – Pulled hard in the early stages and raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
Race 6: MILLERS SWIM SCHOOL BENCHMARK 72 H'CAP – 1050M
 
RAMTASTIC – Raced four wide without cover.
 
TRUCULENT – Held up in the home straight until near the 100m.
 
STELLAR POWER – Raced three wide without cover.
 
NO DOUBT ACRACKER – Slow to begin.
 
SHADYVALE STAR – Raced three wide with cover.
 
Race 7: KIRIN QTIS 3YO H'CAP – 1200M
 
ZIEMBA – Steadied inside the 100m.
 
LE PALMIER – Pulled hard in the early stages and was unable to be restrained by its rider and took the lead near the 800m.
 
JEWELIANA – Checked near the 150m. Apprentice A. Thompson, the rider of OH FIVE GLORY, was issued with a charge of careless riding under AR131(a) in that he permitted his mount to shift in near the 150m when not being clear of JEWELIANA, and as a result that runner had to be checked when tightened for room between LE PALMIER and OH FIVE GLORY. After taking into account submissions made by apprentice Thompson and his master Mr W. Hulbert, which included that LE PALMIER was weakening and shifting out, contributing to the interference sustained by JEWELIANA, stewards afforded apprentice Thompson the benefit of the doubt and elected not to proceed further with the charge.
 
FLAME PRINCESS – Slow to begin.
 
Race 8: TAB OPEN H'CAP – 1615M
 
MAGNUFIGHTER – Bumped near the 400m by SABKHAT.
 
SABKHAT – Shifted out near the 400m and bumped MAGNUFIGHTER.
 
SHOGUN SUN – Raced three wide in the early stages.
 
LA CHICA BELLA – Trainer C. Tyrell was fined $200 for failing to declare apprentice S. Thornton as the rider of the mare by the prescribed time. Slow to begin and hampered soon afterwards when tightened for room by GET STUCK IN.
 
PLITVICE – Pulled hard in the early stages. Hung out near the 1300m and had to be steadied from the heels of SHOGUN SUN.
 
Race 9: XXXX DRY CLASS 6 H'CAP – 1200M
 
LANGHRO – Overraced in the early stages.
 
SIX SIGMA – Bled from both nostrils. Trainer T. Gollan was advised that the gelding would incur the mandatory 3 month bar from racing, and prior to resuming must gallop satisfactorily over 1000m in the presence of a steward.
