Stewart, the rider of SOXAGON, was fined $300 after pleading guilty to a charge under AR132(7)(a)(ii) of excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m. Race 4 – A further veterinary examination of SEAT OF POWER revealed the gelding to have injured its near fore knee and will require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again. Race 7 – R. Wiggins, the rider of SAY BEYOND, was fined $300 after pleading guilty to a charge under AR132(7)(a)(ii) of excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m. Race 8 – Apprentice J. Huxtable, the rider of CRACK ME UP, was fined $300 after pleading guilty to a charge under AR132(7)(a)(ii) of excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m. GENERAL Apprentice M. Wishart pleaded guilty to a charge under AR218(4)(b) of having in her possession a mobile phone in the jockeys’ room. Apprentice Wishart was fined $200. Race 1: TAB MAIDEN PLATE – 1110M STYK AT IT – Laid in rounding the home turn and in the home straight. ZOUKINA – Slow to begin. Race 2: MITAVITE CLASS 6 PLATE – 1110M MOSCINI – J. Orman reported that the gelding travelled reasonably throughout the event, however, when placed under pressure failed to respond to his riding and in his opinion may have not been suited by today’s track conditions. Hampered approaching the winning post. ARCHER’S PARADOX – Bumped with MIGHTY MOOSE on jumping. Overraced in the early and middle stages whilst joint leader. Apprentice M. Wishart was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) of excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m. In determining penalty, stewards took into account that apprentice Wishart had not breached this rule for almost 12 months. MIGHTY MOOSE – Bumped with ARCHER’S PARADOX on jumping. THE TENOR – Bumped by ARCHER’S PARADOX passing the 900m. Laid in over the final 200m and brushed the running rail on a number of occasions. LOVE SQUIRRELS – Began awkwardly. MOONAN JOYCE – Laid in away from LOVE SQUIRRELS approaching the winning post, slightly hampering MOSCINI. ME MUM’S FOXY – Slow to begin. Race 3: THE VILLAGE KITCHEN ASCOT QTIS 2YO MAIDEN PLATE – 1050M KHANJAR was a late scratching at 10:49 am on veterinary advice after sustaining an injury en route to the course. CHIEF MONDO – Raced greenly throughout the event. CARTIAIR – Improved on to the heels of the tiring ELECTRIC DRAGON approaching the 100m and went to the line without being fully tested. ELECTRIC DRAGON – After racing in the lead for the majority of the event, failed to respond when placed under pressure passing the 200m and weakened over the concluding stages. Jockey R. Fradd advised stewards that in his opinion the filly may not have handled today’s track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. KUKINTA – Proved difficult to load. A. Spinks reported that in his opinion the filly may not have appreciated today’s track conditions. PATTY’S FORTUNE – Laid in under pressure over the final 200m. THE DARLING – Improved on to the heels of YES YUP YAY and had to alter course to the inside of that runner to secure clear running. YES YUP YAY – J. Guthmann-Chester was reminded of his obligations regarding the use of the whip prior to the 100m. Race 4: #RACEATYOURPLACE QTIS 2YO MAIDEN PLATE – 1050M NOKONDI – Bumped on jumping. Raced three wide without cover throughout. NUCLEAR – Raced three wide without cover. Passing the 500m was bumped and lost ground when crowded for room by TRAMONTO, which shifted in. A. Mallyon, the rider of TRAMONTO, was reprimanded. J. Bayliss reported that after being caught wide for the majority of the event the gelding had quite a hard run and after receiving some interference approaching the home turn and in the home straight, commenced to weaken approaching the 200m. He added that as his mount had come to the end of its run he desisted from pressuring it over the final stages of the event. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. SPILLENIA – Raced keenly passing the 800m and had to be restrained from the heels of ROMAN REIGN. TRAMONTO – Raced four wide without cover. MISS BARTY – Laid in under pressure over the final 100m. ROMAN REIGN – Began awkwardly and bumped heavily with NOKONDI. Raced in restricted room passing the 600m between HALLSIDEHANKYPANKY and NUCLEAR, which was taken in by TRAMONTO. HAIRDO – Disappointed for a run to the inside of HALLSIDEHANKYPANKY approaching the 250m. MISTRESS OF DOOM – Began awkwardly. Race 5: FUN OVER FIFTY BENCHMARK 72 H'CAP – 1050M DOCTOR ZOUS – After being loaded into the barriers, became fractious, was removed and examined by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to start. PUPPET MASTER – Raced three wide without cover throughout. VOULAIT – Had to be restrained from the heels of INKY BAY approaching the 700m. Laid in when placed under pressure over the final 200m. FLYING MACHINE – Raced three wide without cover throughout. TRU BLU TANGO – D. Smith was fined $100 for use of the whip more than the permitted number of times prior to the 100m. DEEP STATE – Blundered on jumping, became unbalanced and lost ground. INKY BAY – Had to be checked passing the 800m when tightened for room by DOCTOR ZOUS, which shifted in, and shortly after raced ungenerously when being restrained. Jockey D. Griffin, the rider of DOCTOR ZOUS, was reprimanded. After light rain had fallen the track was downgraded to SOFT 6 following the running of this event. Race 6: TAB LONG MAY WE PLAY QTIS 3YO MAIDEN H'CAP – 1050M The start of this race was delayed considerably when NIKOHLI BEAGLE, which dislodged the rider after leaving the enclosure and cantered for some distance before being captured, underwent a veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Jockey Fancourt advised that she was fit to fulfil her engagement. SYDNEY ANGUS – Raced greenly in the home straight when placed under pressure. OUR ARIANA – Raced keenly in the early stages. SERENE AFFAIR – Bumped heavily on the hind quarters shortly after the start. Raced keenly in the early stages. ANGELIC ARCHER – Held up rounding the home turn. BOOM CHUGGA LUGGA – Bumped heavily shortly after the start by SERENE AFFAIR. Held up rounding the home turn. Race 7: SHAPE CONSULTING BENCHMARK 65 H'CAP – 2070M NEMINGAH – Raced in restricted room passing the 600m between CHIEF COMMAND and PARIS CRYSTAL, which was attempting to shift out to improve. Laid out under pressure over the final 100m. DON’T DESPAIR – Laid out under pressure over the final 200m. AUSTRIA – Restrained at the start from the wide barrier to obtain a position closer to the rail at the rear. Held up from the 500m until the 300m and shortly after was again disappointed for a run between JOY’S REWARD and CHIEF COMMAND before altering course to the outside passing the 150m to secure clear running. Again had to alter course to avoid heels approaching the 50m. TOUCAN SAM – R. Maloney was fined $300 after pleading guilty to a charge under AR132(7)(a)(ii) of excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m. In determining penalty, stewards took into account that TOUCAN SAM won the event. PARIS CRYSTAL – Began awkwardly. Improved on to the heels of the tiring NIATROSS approaching the 600m and when attempting to shift to the outside around that runner, was unable to do so and bumped with NEMINGAH. Held up from the 500m until passing the 300m. CHIEF COMMAND – Bumped on jumping. Shifted three wide passing the 1100m to improve. Became unbalanced passing the 600m when bumped on the hind quarters by NEMINGAH. Race 8: #FASHIONATYOURPLACE BENCHMARK 65 H'CAP – 2070M DASHING SPECIAL – Held up rounding the home turn. Improved on to the heels of the weakening IPSO NEM FELEK passing the 300m and had to be steadied and shift wider on the course to secure clear running. IPSO NEM FELEK – Caught wide rounding the first turn before being allowed to stride forward to obtain the position outside the leader approaching the 1300m. MR MISUNDERSTOOD – Shifted to a three wide position with cover passing the 1100m. SHACKLES – Crowded between HUSSON’S PRIDE and ACCESSORY shortly after the start. Improved on to the heels of HUSSON’S PRIDE passing the 800m and when attempting to come outside that runner was unable to do so and had to be restrained from that runner’s heels. LIKEABEEL – Raced three wide with cover from the 800m. Bumped on a number of occasions after passing the 600m by HUSSON’S PRIDE, which was attempting to shift out and improve. Laid in over the final 250m and proved difficult to ride. SPIRIT OF EDYN – Raced keenly passing the 1500m when in a midfield position, and passing the 1100m was shifted three wide to improve. BLACKLOG – Stable representative for trainer S. Morrisey explained that the gelding has been unlucky in its recent runs and he has been satisfied with its performances. He added that with today’s favourable track conditions and a step up in distance he expected a forward showing. Stewards noted the explanation. Race 9: MITAVITE CLASS 3 H'CAP – 1200M PERFECT AIM – Approaching the 900m, when racing keenly, had to be restrained from the heels of CHAMPAGNE DAISY and in doing so brushed the running rail and became unbalanced. LET’S GO BOBBY was a late scratching at 2:50 pm when stewards acceded to a request by trainer P. Jenkins to withdraw the horse because of the track downgrade to SOFT 6. PURE PULSE – Began awkwardly and shifted in abruptly. Laid out under pressure over the final 100m. SUILVEN – Bumped when crowded for room on jumping and lost ground. LOVE EXPRESS – Raced three wide with cover throughout. CANDESCENCE – Slow to begin. PURRONI – Passing the 1100m, when racing keenly, became awkwardly placed at the heels of CHAMPAGNE DAISY and had to be restrained. ROSSMAY – Bumped when crowded for room on jumping and lost ground. Had to be restrained from the heels of VIENNA MOON passing the 900m. Disappointed for a run approaching the 400m to the outside of SHE ZA BOSS and to the inside of LOVE EXPRESS and was held up until approaching the 300m. LADY APPLETON – Slow to begin. VIENNA MOON – Hung in passing the 900m and raced three wide without cover throughout. Race 10: EVA AIR BENCHMARK 72 H'CAP – 1350M B. Stewart pleaded guilty to a charge under AR185 in that he changed his riding boots after weighing out to ride LASHONI and was fined $200. PRESSWAY – Crowded for room on jumping. Raced keenly in the early stages and had to be restrained from the heels of LE DUDE passing the 1200m. ARCHER’S TREASURE – Crowded for room on jumping. Shortly after the start jockey E. Ljung lost the use of her offside stirrup iron for a short distance. TRAVISTEE – Bumped heavily with CARY ON RINGO on jumping. LE DUDE – Began awkwardly. Raced three wide with cover. DRUMADOIR – Began awkwardly. A. Spinks was fined $100 for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m. LIGHT UP THE ROOM – Began awkwardly. Raced three wide with cover. CARRY ON RINGO – Bumped heavily with TRAVISTEE on jumping. Raced three wide without cover throughout. LASHONI – Slow to begin. Failed to respond when placed under pressure in the home straight and proved slightly disappointing. B. Stewart advised that the mare may not have handled the prevailing track conditions.
