Race 1: TAB VENUE MODE Maiden Handicap 11metres HEAD LEGISLATOR – On arrival at the barriers the saddle on the gelding was readjusted. Lost off fore plate in running. ORBISYN – After being reluctant to proceed to the barriers, a warning was placed on the geldings pre-race manners. Lost near hind plate in running. BOOM EXPRESS – Raced three wide with cover for the majority of the event. SHAMATON – Began awkwardly. MY GIRL ROCKS – Lost off fore plate in running. CHANT NAY NEVER – Crowded on jumping. Over-raced in the middle stages of the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed CHANT MAY NEVER to have bled from both nostrils for the first time. Connections were advised the mare would be stood down from racing for a period of 3 months and must gallop 1000 metres in the presence of a Steward prior to its next race start under AR79(4). I AM SUPERIOR – Crowded on jumping. Over-raced in the middle stages of the event. MASARED – Slow to begin. Raced three wide without cover for the majority of the event. Race 2: SKY RACING QTIS 3-Y-O BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 1650 metres SIZZLING RIVER was declared a late scratching at 2:11pm on veterinary advice when the gelding which was fractious moving onto the track contacted the enclosure gate and sustained injuries to its off hind leg. On declaration of correct weight Stewards ordered all bets on SIZZLING RIVER be refunded in full with the following deductions to apply: 1st PHANTOM COURT – 11 cents win, 13 cents place 2nd BANGERS AND MAYO – 13 cents place 3rd TERRAJOHNA – 16 cents place Trainer L Ross was advised SIZZLING RIVER must trial satisfactorily prior to its next race start. BANGERS AND MAYO – Rider J Morris was fined $500 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for use of the whip on eight occasions prior to the 100 metres, 3 more than permitted. TERRAJOHNA – When surrendering the lead near the 1300 metres resented being restrained and threw its head in the air. GULLFOSS – Tightened for room and made contact with the running rail when checked from the heels of PHANTOM COURT which shifted in slightly before being corrected by its rider. TRUST IN ALOHA – Slow to begin. Checked from the heels of GULLFLOSS near the 900 metres and lost ground. SIENNA'S CHOICE – Slow to begin. MEDUSA'S FURY – Declared a late scratching at 1:45pm at the request of trainer Stephen Lee following the track down grade to a Heavy 8. Race 3: STRADBROKE SEASON 1 MAY - JUNE Class 3 Handicap 1050 metres THE MOVE – Slipped behind on jumping and lost ground. Raced three wide without cover for majority of the event. DIS DAH WUN – Declared a late scratching at 1:45pm at the request of trainer Tony Sears following the track down grade to a Heavy 8. CLAIRVUE STAR – Slow to begin. CONTEMPTUOUS – Lost near fore plate in running. SPIRIT HOUSE – Slow to begin. Rider M Rodd reported his mount failed to handle the prevailing track conditions. TWERK – Steadied from heels near 800 metres when AMICHE shifted out. Race 4: XXXX DRY Class 4 Plate 1200 metres FLASH AAH – Bucked shortly after the start resulting in rider M Wishart being dislodged. Trainer’s representative Mr D Silver was advised the horse must trial satisfactorily prior to its next race start. M Wishart was transported to hospital for further observation. App Wishart was advised she must provide a medical clearance before resuming race riding. MORT DOYLE – Bumped on jumping. ENDLESS RIVER – Jumped in at the start.SKINS – Declared a late scratching at 2:10pm at the request of trainer David van Dyke following the track down grade to a Heavy 8. WONDERFUL RIRI – Held up rounding the home turn. INGEAR – Raced wide in the early stages of the event. Rider M Rodd reported the mare failed to handle the prevailing track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Race 5: MOUNT FRANKLIN BENCHMARK 70 Handicap 1650 metres NEPTUNE'S CHOICE – Raced three wide without cover for the majority of the event. OCTAVIAN – Slow to begin. Rider B El Issa was questioned regarding his riding of the horse particularly in the home straight where it appeared at various stages he lacked some vigor on OCTAVIAN. B El Issa explained each time the horse was tested with the whip it was inclined to shift in and near the 100 metres moved inwards toward NEPTUNE’S CHOICE. He added from that point he tested OCTAVIAN with his hands and used the whip on one more occasion at which point it shifted in further towards NOTONYA NELLY and as a result rode hands and heels from that point. Stewards noted the explanation of B El Issa. RINVIATA – Change of tactics, to be ridden back in the field if circumstances permit. Ridden accordingly. CHAMPAGNE AUNTY – Declared a late scratching at 2:35pm at the request of trainer Steve Tregea following the track down grade to a Heavy 8. BROCSON – Slow to begin. Race 6: TAB LIVE SKY RACING VISION QTIS 3-Y-O Class 1 Plate 1200 metres BUNDYANDCOKE – Over-raced in the early stages when being restrained. HE KNOWS – Steadied from heels when the pace steadied leaving the 800 metres. SHAMROCK LU – Shifted out when placed under pressure in the home straight. CHATTANOOGA LUCY – Steadied from heels when the pace steadied leaving the 800 metres. DANSANT – Over-raced in the early and middle stages. MISHANI APPEAL – Raced wide for the majority of the event.
