GENERAL

Due to jockey Michael Cahill being injured, changes were made as per the riding summary.

Stewards permitted the following weight variations.

Race 2 – Jockey Bradley Stewart (Hi Harry) 1kg over at 56kg.
Race 8 – Jockey James Orman (Starosa) ½ kg over at 56kg.
Race 8 – Jockey Luke Dittman (East Asia) ½ kg over at 56kg.

Trainer T Gollan was fined $1000 pursuant to LR30 (1)(a)(ii) for failing to have BALLER and ZOUSTYLE on course within the prescribed time. Stewards when considering penalty precedence’s and Mr. Gollan’s record and acting under the provisions of AR283(5) Stewards suspended $500 of this amount for a period of 12 months, should Mr. Gollan not reoffend under this rule.


Race 1: WRITTEN BY - 1ST YEARLINGS SELLING 2022 2YO HANDICAP 1200 metres

Capital Tower – Began awkwardly and shifted out. Near the 400m shifted out and bumped with MISHANI MENTAL.

Mishani Mental – Bumped on jumping. Raced keenly early and middle stages. Bumped near the 400m. Put in an awkward stride near the 300m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.

Fearless Knight – Began awkwardly. Inconvenienced shortly after the start when EVEN NOW shifted out and away from BURNISH GOLD which shifted out. Taken out near the 300m to secure clear running.

Burnish Gold –Shifted out shortly after the start. Laid in in the straight.

Zouson Boy – Hampered shortly after the start when CAPITAL TOWER shifted out. Hung out rounding the home turn.

Mishani Mistress – Began awkwardly.

Even Now – Bumped on jumping. Steadied near the 800m when LOUISIANA STAR shifted in and raced ungenerously. Held up and had difficulty securing clear running between the 400m and 200m.

Louisiana Star – Raced keenly early. Near the 500m raced ungenerously when awkwardly placed on heels and became unbalanced.


Race 2: THOROUGHBRED INDUSTRY CAREERS COUNTRY CUPS CHALLENGE (FINAL) No Metro Wins last 2 years 1600 metres


Ammoudi Bay – Slow to begin. Held up for clear running between the 600m and 400m and again had difficulty securing clear running between the 200m and 50m.

Bernie's Tiger – Crowded after the start and steadied.

Doom – Bumped shortly after the start.

Jochberg – Taken out near the 250m to obtain clear running. A postrace veterinary examination determined that the gelding was lame in its near fore fetlock. Trainer D Baker was advised that a veterinary certificate would be required prior to it resuming.

Necessitas (NZ) – Carried out and inconvenienced shortly after the start.

Sugar Buzz – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout.

Van Winkel – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout.

Hi Harry – Bumped shortly after the start.

Whitterick – Hung out shortly after the start. Momentarily steadied near the 250m.

Mahratta – Very slow to begin.



Race 3: XXXX EAGLE WAY 2000 metres

The track was upgraded to a Soft 6 prior to the running of this race.

Caboche (NZ) – Began awkwardly. Checked near the 500m and lost significant ground.

Ashgrove – Began awkwardly.

It's All Talk – Near the 500m checked and lost ground. Returned having cast its near hind plate. Jockey B Stewart rider of DEEP TEMPEST was charged pursuant to AR131(a) in regard to careless riding however after taking further submissions from all riders and in particular noting the evidence of Jockeys B Thompson and R Maloney, Stewards could not be comfortably satisfied that the charge could be sustained and subsequently found Mr Stewart not guilty.

Deep Tempest (NZ) – Steadied from the heels of ASHGROVE near the 400m.

Gypsy Goddess (NZ) – Slow to begin. Checked near the 500m forced very wide and lost significant ground. A post-race veterinary examination revealed lacerations to its near for coronet.

Balmaurice – Checked near the 500m forced very wide and lost significant ground. Returned having cast its near hind plate.

Du Maurier – Bagan awkwardly.

A Fair Swear – Slow to begin. When over racing steadied from heels near the 1000m.


Race 4: ROKU GIN COUNTRY STAMPEDE (FINAL) No Metro Wins Last 2 Years 1110 metres

Hard Stride – Raced wide throughout.

Piracy – Fractious in the barriers.

Ahwahneechee – Held up for clear running approaching the home turn and in the early part of the home straight.

V J Day (USA) – Raced wide throughout.

Raiden – Restrained from the wide barrier.

American Genius – Had difficulty securing clear running between the 400m and 100m.

New Alliance – Raced wide throughout.

Patented – Raced wide throughout. Near the 300m steadied from PHIONAIX which shifted out.

Tourmaster – Raced wide throughout.

Best Guess – Slow to begin.

Zukaz – Raced wide throughout. Returned having cast its off fore plate.


Race 5: SKY RACING WINNING RUPERT PLATE 1200 metres


Far Too Easy – Began awkwardly.

Minto's Paradise – Slow to begin.

Refero – Rolled out when under pressure near the 200m.

Wardaddy – Had difficulty obtaining clear running between the 200m and 100m.

Zuma California – Began awkwardly and shifted out.

Enabler – Raced three wide throughout. Bumped near the 200m when ZUMA CALIFORNIA was carried out by REFERO which rolled out under pressure. Shortly thereafter the gelding changed stride when easing to the inside of FAR TOO EASY.

Jackson On Time – Began awkwardly and inconvenienced when ZUMA CALIFORNIA shifted out shortly after the start. Taken out near the 300m to obtain clear running.



Race 6: THE STEVEN W. SINCLAIR OPEN Quality Handicap 2000 metres

The track was upgraded to a Soft 5 prior to the running of this race.


Wapiti – Rider allowed his mount to stride forward from the 800m.

Happy Go Plucky – After being caught wide early its rider elected to allow the gelding to stride forward and reach the position outside the leader near the 1100m.

Humbolt Current (GB) – Steadied from heels near the 600m. Held up approaching the home turn.

Prometheus – Rider reported that in his opinion the gelding failed to run out a strong 2000m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have a low heart rate and it was also found to be short striding in front. No other significant abnormalities. Trainer advised that it would be likely that the gelding would now be sent for a spell.

Green Jacket – Raced wide throughout.

Stuck With You (NZ) – Had difficulty obtaining a clear run in the early part of the straight.

Populist – Trainer G Duncan advised that the gelding would be ridden forward. Ridden accordingly. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have a low heart rate and no other significant abnormalities.


Race 7: SKY RACING TATTERSALL'S RECOGNITION STAKES 1350 metres


The Harrovian – Restrained from the wide barrier.

Ballistic Boy – Bumped shortly after the start.

Silvera – Restrained from the wide barrier.

Willo Titto – Slow to begin.

Right or Wrong – Raced three wide throughout.

Tumbler Ridge – Bumped shortly after the start.

Barney's Law – Raced keenly early. Steadied approaching the home turn when THE HARROVIAN rolled in.

Morethannumberone – Slow to begin.

Race 8: EUREKA STUD CLASSIC FILLIES & MARES 1200 metres

Wandabaa – Restrained from the wide barrier. Held up approaching the home turn and in the straight and was unable to be fully tested.

Kisukano – Raced wide.

Blazing Miss – Raced wide early and middle stages.

Tycoon Evie – Steadied near the 800m.Near the 300m shifted out to improve and bumped with LYRICAL GIRL.

Wonderful Riri – Restrained from the wide barrier.

Lyrical Girl – Held up approaching the home turn until near the 200m. Bumped near the 300m.

Starosa – Raced wide.

Fleet Dove – Raced keenly early and steadied approaching the 850m. Held up approaching the home turn.

Tara Jasmine – Slow to begin.

East Asia (NZ) – Slow to begin. Held up approaching the home turn.

Euro Belle – Raced wide.

Centrefire – Raced wide.


Race 9: TAB GEORGE MOORE STAKES 1200 metres


Shooting For Gold – Reared and became momentarily cast in the barriers. Subsequently declared a late scratching at 5.13pm on veterinary advice with the following deductions to apply. A post- race veterinary examination revealed a mild abrasion to its near side elbow. Trainer advised that a barrier certificate would be required prior to resuming. The following deductions to apply.

Simply Fly – Declared a late scratching at 5.13pm after lunging forward in the barriers and sustaining abrasions to its near side nostril. Stewards when assessing this incident noted that SIMPLY FLY reacted to SHOOTING FOR GOLD becoming cast. The following deductions to apply.

Race 10: ENCRYPTION FIRST YEARLINGS 2022 MODE STAKES 1200 metres

The start of this race was rescheduled to 5.56 pm due to a Rider requiring transport by QAS.

Glorious Ruby – Held up approaching the home turn.

Miss Hipstar – Buffeted on jumping. Pulled hard in the middle stages.

Stellar Magic – Began awkwardly and shifted out. Raced three wide with cover. Steadied approaching the finish line when PUTONTHEREDLIGHT rolled in.

Baristasista – Steadied between the 700m and 600m when racing keenly.

Fetch – Raced three wide.

Lime Soda – Began awkwardly and shifted in.

Kindling Spirit – Slow to begin.
