GENERAL Stewards approved the following Jockeys to ride overweight. Race 3 – Justin Stanley (BETTERDEEL) plus 1kg at 55kg. Race 1: HAPPY NEW YEAR FROM BRC Class 3 Plate 1050 metres Frederick The Dane – Buffeted between runners on jumping. Momentarily steadied near the 150m when tightened to the inside of PARKSVILLE which was carried in slightly by EXCELNESS. Rider reported that the gelding may not have appreciated the track conditions. Kingston's Here – Bounded on jumping. Parksville – Began very awkwardly and shifted out. Held up for clear running in the early part of the straight. First Crown – Checked between runners on jumping and lost ground. Held up for clear running in the early part of the straight. Race 2: GIRLS DAY OUT 12 MARCH BENCHMARK 72 Handicap 2000 metres The track was downgraded to a Soft 7 prior to the running of this event. Sokudo – Fractious in the barriers. Vendidit – Began awkwardly and shifted out. Rider reported in his opinion the gelding did not appreciate todays racing surface. Takeittothelimit – Held up approaching the home turn. So You're Magic – Rider reported that the gelding performed disappointingly. Post-race veterinary examination revealed that the gelding had a slow post-race recovery. Trainer M Wilson indicated that he may add a tongue tie for its next start. Tribute King (NZ) – Carried wider near the 1700m when BUMRAH shifted out then raced wide for the remainder. Brando – Raced wide early. Bumrah (NZ) – Raced keenly early, shifted out near the 1700m then made the crossing awkwardly. Lady Solerno – Raced wide early. Chief Command – Slow to begin. Raced three wide with cover for the majority. Race 3: TRAPEZE ARTIST - 1ST YEARLINGS SELLING 2022 2YO HANDICAP 1200 metres Mishani Persuasion – Began awkwardly then bumped. Rider reported that his saddle shifted on jumping, placing him at a disadvantage. Soaring Ambition – Began awkwardly and shifted out. Rider reported that in the straight when attempting to get to the outside the filly was reluctant to do so. Minks Star – Bumped of jumping. Raced keenly early. Betterdeel – Inconvenienced on jumping and lost ground. Celestial Spirit – Began awkwardly and shifted out. Russian Warrior – Steadied from heels passing the 800m. Yankee River – Slow to begin. Better Golightly – Laid out over the concluding stages. Race 4: MAGIC MILLIONS QTIS MAGIC TICKET RATINGS BAND 0 - 90 Handicap 1200 metres Simply Fly – Tightened on jumping and lost ground. Post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Ef Troop – Late scratching at 1pm due to track down grade. Goodonya Sonja – Began awkwardly and shifted out. Boom Spender – Hampered on jumping Guntantes – Bumped on the hind quarters on jumping and became unbalanced. Toorooloo – Trainer advised that the mare would be ridden with cover. Ridden accordingly. Began awkwardly. Queen Sweeper – Ran very wide leaving the 800m and proved difficult to ride. Trainer S Kendrick was advised that the mare would be required to trial to the satisfaction of stewards prior to resuming. Race 5: TAB VENUE MODE BENCHMARK 78 Handicap 1350 metres Fleet Dove – Raced wide throughout. Kedah (NZ) – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout. Held up in the early part of the home straight. Inconvenienced near the 300m. Gunnobe – Began awkwardly. Jakama – Slow to begin. Over raced early then raced wide throughout. Red Bloom – Raced wide throughout. Boyles – Near the 300m clipped heels and blundered when SHIJIN shifted out despite the efforts of its rider to correct the shift. Shijin – Shifted out near the 300m despite the efforts of its rider. Beachbreak – Slow to begin. Collay's Spirit (NZ) – Slow to begin. Race 6: MAGIC MILLIONS SHOOT OUT 2000 metre The track was downgraded to a Heavy 8 prior to the running of this event. Ambitious Prince – Raced wide throughout. Phaistos – Post race veterinary examination identified some trauma to its right eye and was treated on course. Two Smokin Barrels – Raced wide throughout. Scilago – Restrained from the wide barrier. Raced three with cover from the 1400m. Bargannon – Improved onto heels near the 1700m and steadied, before over racing for a short distance. Race 7: MAGIC MILLIONS VO ROGUE PLATE 1350 metres The track was downgraded to a Heavy 10 prior to the running of this event. Release The Beans – Broke through the barriers before travelling a short distance. Pre-race veterinary examination could find no abnormalities and the gelding was cleared to start. Near the 300m buffeted between runners after laying in, contacting the hind quarters of SHINOKA which turned that runner out. Starman – Late scratching at 3.17pm due to track downgrade. Bump'n'run – Bumped on jumping. Over raced early and middle. Miss Hipstar – Slow to begin. Bumper near the 300m and became unbalanced. Shihonka – Slow to begin. Bumped and turned outwards near the 300m. Dovetail Diva – After lunging forward in the barriers it underwent a pre-race veterinary examination which could find no abnormalities and the filly was cleared to start. Chatty Lady – After lunging forward in the barriers it underwent a pre-race veterinary examination which could find no abnormalities and the filly was cleared to start. Began awkwardly and shortly thereafter was inconvenienced and lost ground. Race 8: MAGIC MILLIONS THE BUFFERING 1350 metres Tambo's Mate – Shifted in near the 300m. Soxagon – Slow to begin. Rider reported that the gelding felt awkward in its action. Post- race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery. Aim – Post race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Kiku – Slow to begin. Garibaldi – Late scratching at 2.57pm due to track downgrade. Axe – Steadied from heels near the 1100m. Blondeau – Near the 300m steadied from the heels of Tambo’s Mate which rolled in. Mr Money Bags – Late scratching at 2.48pm due to track downgrade. Race 9: MAGIC MILLIONS NUDGEE STAKES 1200 metres Nudge – Held up for clear running between the 250m and 100m. Isotope – Late scratching at 2.57pm due to track downgrade. Jamaea – Late scratching at 4.37pm due to track downgrade. Pennino – Raced in restricted room near the 800m when Centrefire laid in. Miami Fleiss – Began awkwardly. Laid in over the final 100m and proved difficult to ride. Post -race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. East Asia (NZ) – Slow to begin. Kisukano – Slow to begin. Raced wide. Laid in home straight. Intrepidacious –Blundered shortly after the start, shifted in contacting Eloquently. Rider reported it felt awkward in its action. Post-race veterinary examination revealed a poor post-race recovery. Eloquently – Began awkwardly. Bumped shortly after the start. Katalin – Held up for clear running over the final 100m. Tycoon Evie – Blundered on jumping. Steadied when racing tightly over the concluding sages. Centrefire – Laid in near the 800m. Salateen – Slow to begin then hampered. Raced wide.
