QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT DOOMBEN TURF CLUB WEDNESDAY 18th SEPTEMBER 2024 WEATHER – FineTRACK RATING – Good 4RAIL – +11m entire OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – P. ZimmermannStewards – S. Fletcher, K. Daly, D. McMahon, E. Tickner, S. Borg, O. Legg GENERALStewards permitted the following overweight:Race 1 – M. Harley +0.5kg Race 1: PINK RIBBON RACEWEEK MAIDEN PLATE 2070 M BENZINO – Jockey N. Beriman reported that in her opinion the gelding did not appreciate today’s track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer G. Duncan advised Stewards that he would reassess the gelding over the following days and would report back if anything was to come to light regarding today’s performance. CASANOVA MAN (NZ) – Slow to begin. DEIFIC – Slow to begin. ENTERPRISE PRIVATE – Slow to begin. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn and until approaching the 200m. FOSSIL FUEL – Over raced in the early stages. When asked to comment on today’s performance, Jockey J. Bayliss stated that he was disappointed with today’s performance. He further added that he was not entirely satisfied with its action and elected to not pressure the gelding in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery. Race 2: THE GIBSON QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD COLTS AND GELDINGS MAIDEN PLATE 1110 M The start of this race was delayed approximately 4 minutes when HOKITIKA refused to load into the barriers and was subsequently declared a late scratching at 2:22pm. Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Stewards declared that all bets placed on HOKITIKA be refunded with the following deductions to apply:1st – STREET CHASE 1c win, 1c place2nd – ANDERSEN 5c place3rd – ACAPPELLA NOVA 7c place Trainer R. Beaton was advised that the gelding would be required to obtain a further barrier certificate prior to returning to the races. ACAPPELLA NOVA – After beginning awkwardly, shifted in and away from ANDERSEN, was bumped and lost ground. ANDERSEN – Began awkwardly and shifted in before being corrected. RUNAWAY TYCOON – Began awkwardly and shifted out. Leaving the 600m, was contacted, became unbalanced and lost some ground when SCION shifted in and away from SUNLIGHT MAJESTY. Approaching the home turn, raced in restricted room to the inside of SCION which laid in. SCION – Taken out slightly on jumping. When racing tightly between RUNAWAY TYCOON and SUNLIGHT MAJESTY leaving the 600m, shifted in despite the efforts of its rider. Laid in again approaching the home turn. Trainer M. Morrison was advised a warning would be placed on the gelding for its racing manners. SUNLIGHT MAJESTY – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Over raced in the early stages and raced wide throughout. CHAMIERRO – Bumped on the hind quarters shorty after the start and became unbalanced before racing in restricted room and restraining for cover. Jockey M. Harley reported that his mount raced greenly at various stages of the event. Race 3: SPRING CARNIVAL BOOK NOW QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD FILLIES MAIDEN PLATE 1110 M CANYA BERICH – Began awkwardly and was then buffeted between runners. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn and in the early part of the home straight. IN GREAT SPIRIT – Slow to begin then bumped, shortly thereafter was hampered. Laid in leaving the 100m before improving onto the heels of MISHANI EXPRESS and was obliged to steady. KETTLEBELL – Began awkwardly and shifted in. LADY LAZARUS – Slow to begin. Jockey K. Wilson-Taylor reported that after beginning poorly and being obliged to settle further back in the field, he stated the filly finished off well and would derive benefit from today’s run. He further added that in his opinion the filly would appreciate a step up in distance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery and mild heat stress. Trainer K. Kemp was advised the filly would require a veterinary clearance prior to resuming. MISHANI EXPRESS – Began awkwardly and was bumped. STROMBOLI DELIGHT – Raced wide throughout. BOLLINGER MISS – Raced greenly when placed under pressure in the home straight. BLUE EYE DAME – When being crossed by BOLLINGER MISS (M. Harley) near the 900m obliged to momentarily steady from heels. Jockey M. Harley was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances. Raced wide throughout. Race 4: EUREKA STUD CLASS 2 HANDICAP 1660 M AMERICAN PHIREBALL – Began awkwardly. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. HOLY FLASH – Began awkwardly and shifted out. NOTACLUEHOWORWHO – Hampered shortly after the start and lost ground. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer G. Duncan advised Stewards that the gelding has come to the end of its preparation and would now likely be sent for a spell. He further added he would advise Stewards if anything was to come to light in the days subsequent. EASTOWN – Raced in restricted room over the concluding stages to the inside of AMERICAN PHIREBALL. NIPPA'S NIGHTCAP – Began awkwardly and shifted out. CHAMPAGNES ON ME (NZ) – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Race 5: XXXX GOLD COLTS, GELDINGS AND ENTIRES RATINGS BAND 0 - 62 HANDICAP 1350 M HE'S FOR THE GIRLS – Slow to begin. Approaching the 900m, improved onto heels when the pace slackened and momentarily shifted wider. Held up rounding the home turn and until leaving the 200m. KARAOKE AL – Began awkwardly and lost ground. WHO ORDERED DAFISH – Buffeted on jumping and lost ground. BOLD SMUGGLER – Began awkwardly and shifted out. TIRITIRI (NZ) – Restrained from a wide barrier to a rearward position. Raced wide throughout. ROCKIN' ARTIE – Approaching the 200m when weakening, momentarily raced in restricted room between HE’S FOR THE GIRLS and BOLD SMUGGLER. WHISKEY AND BEER – Severely hampered on jumping and lost ground. CASH ARTIST – Near the 800m, momentarily steadied when the pace slackened. DANTE ALIGHIERI – Began very awkwardly and shifted in. Laid out rounding the home turn. Race 6: SKY RACING FILLIES AND MARES RATINGS BAND 0 - 62 HANDICAP 1350 M AITUTAKI – Jockey M. Cahill was found guilty of a charge pursuant to AR 131(b) for failing to ride his mount out to the end of the race and/or approaching the end of the race. The particulars being, when leading the event and approximately 40 meters from the winning post, Jockey M. Cahill as the rider of AITUTAKI, altered his riding vigour for 1.5 to 2 strides which in the opinion of Stewards, compromised his mount from finishing in 1st place, when considering the short head margin, or numerical margin of 0.08 lengths. Stewards, after hearing submissions on penalty and considering penalty precedents, which included a recent breach under this rule by Jockey M. Cahill at Lismore on the 26/7/2024, took into account the status of the race, that being a midweek metropolitan meeting, as well as wagering implications and prizemoney ($14,200) lost by connections. Jockey M. Cahill’s license to ride in races was suspended for 4 weeks commencing midnight 21/9/2024 up to and including midnight 19/10/2024. HATASU – Buffeted between runners after the start. LEGER CHASE – Bumped after the start. SILVER PEARL – Slow to begin. JUKEBOX GLOW – Bumped rounding the home turn. ASHILLA – Began awkwardly and shifted in. Had difficulty obtaining clear running rounding the home turn. AMNESIA – Began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped RIVA D’AMOR. GERRYMANDER – Raced wide throughout. Made the home turn awkwardly, shifted wider and bumped JUKEBOX GLOW and became unbalanced. Near the 250m, momentarily raced in restricted room whilst tiring. KELLY'S LANDING – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages and proved difficult to settle. RIVA D'AMOR – Bumped heavily after the start. Race 7: LADBROKES BET TICKER RATINGS BAND 0 - 62 HANDICAP 1110 M IT'S RAINING AGAIN – Raced keenly in the middle stages. Passing the 800m, had to be steadied after improving onto heels. Again, had to be steadied near the 600m after improving onto heels. Held up rounding the home turn and in the early part of the home straight. BRAVELY – Slow to begin. Obliged to alter course leaving the 200m to secure clear running. PINKUS – Held up rounding the home turn and until leaving the 250m. UNCLE BUD – As Jockey B. Thornton was ill and unable to take his ride, he was subsequently replaced by R. Dolan. Jockey B. Thornton was advised he would require a medical clearance prior to resuming race riding. CITY CHICK – Raced wide throughout. ALLUMEUR – Began awkwardly. CLAUDIUS – Raced wide throughout. STEWARDS RACE DAY SUMMARY Summary of action concerning licenseesSuspensionsRace 6 – M.
