Smith for the late scratching of BELLA TIVACI (NZ) (Race 6). Race 1: RACECOURSE VILLAGE QTIS TWO-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN PLATE 1110M After being loaded into the barriers, PROFOUNDLY reared resulting in both front legs becoming cast on the front barrier partition and was subsequently declared a late scratching at 1:41pm. On the declaration of correct weight, Stewards ordered all bets on PROFOUNDLY to be refunded in full with the following deductions to apply:1st - SUNRAYS – 15c win, 12c place. 2nd - COOL MOON – 17c place. 3rd - STEFFI ELECTRICA – 0c place. Trainer L. Freedman was advised PROFOUNDLY would require a further barrier certificate prior to resuming racing. TRIBESMAN – Began awkwardly. Jockey M. Kennedy was reprimanded pursuant to AR 132(6)(c) for using her whip when out of contention. A post-race veterinary examination revealed shin soreness in both front legs. Trainer B. Mair advised the colt would now be sent for a spell. Trainer B. Mair was advised TRIBESMAN would require veterinary clearance should it be her intention to start the colt within the next 6 weeks. WHATTA MISSION – Over the concluding stages, Jockey J. Stanley was obliged to stop riding when placed in restricted room to the inside of COOL MOON which shifted in. COOL MOON – Shifted in over the concluding stages. SUNRAYS – Raced keenly in the early stages. Following the running of this race, the track was upgraded to a Good 4 at 1:56pm. Race 2: BECOME A BRC MEMBER QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD COLTS AND GELDINGS MAIDEN PLATE 1200M BUSKER – Began awkwardly. Apprentice E. Lang reported the gelding raced greenly throughout. Passing the 200m, taken wider by NINJITZOU which shifted out to improve and as a result bumped with TICKLE MY TOSEN. CALL OUT – Despite the form guide advertising blinkers first time, this was an error as blinkers had been worn at the horse’s last start. Raced greenly when placed under pressure in the home straight. REVALOT – Slow to begin. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the near hind leg. Stable representative was advised REVALOT would require veterinary clearance prior to resuming racing. TEN GOOD REASONS (NZ) – Slow to begin. Near the 100m, inconvenienced and obliged to shift out when TICKLE MY TOSEN shifted out under pressure. TICKLE MY TOSEN – Bumped passing the 200m. Shifted out under pressure near the 100m. UNDER SUSPICION – Slow to begin. Raced ungenerously approaching the 900m. Race 3: GIRLS DAY OUT 1 MARCH QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD FILLIES MAIDEN PLATE 1200M CASTELVETRANO – Underwent a re-saddle upon arrival to the barriers. COPENHAGEN CAT – Raced wide for the majority. When asked to comment on the tactics adopted in the middle stages of the event, in particular as to whether there was an opportunity to have his mount settle back from the leaders rather than race three wide outside the lead. Jockey D. Smith stated he rode aggressively in the first furlong and as the horse was stepping up from 1000m, he anticipated being able to cross to the lead, however when approaching the 900m, it became apparent he was unable to cross closer than three wide. He attempted to restrain and have the horse settle, however the filly over raced and continued to do so until leaving the 600m. He further added in his view, this had a detrimental effect on the horse’s finishing effort. After viewing the Stewards patrol footage in the company of Jockey D. Smith, Stewards accepted the explanation. Trainer D. Ward advised Stewards that the filly would now be sent for a spell. DIVINE DI – Slow to begin. Jockey J. Stanley reported his mount hung out from the 400m. MISS GRAYSEA – Slow to begin. TIYE – Raced wide for the majority. Race 4: SKY RACING MAIDEN PLATE 1350M BRING ME SAKI – Jockey D. Smith reported the horse became awkward in its action approaching the 700m. Trainer D. Ward reported the horse had lacerations to the off hind leg consistent with having been galloped on. GARTAN – Began awkwardly and lost ground. RHUVAAL – Jockey J. Stanley reported it had not been his intention to lead, however after beginning well, he elected to press forward from the wide barrier. SHABOOH SHALAA – Over raced in the early stages when being restrained in an attempt to obtain cover. Was unable to obtain cover and subsequently raced three wide throughout. SHADOW CRUISER – Forced wider near the 800m and raced wide from that point onwards. Jockey M. Rodd reported he had concerns with the horse’s action. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the near hind leg. Trainer S. Dwyer was advised the gelding would require veterinary clearance prior to resuming. HEADHUNTER – Hung out from approaching the 600m. AMAHLE – Slow to begin. Over raced in the middle stages. Whilst weakening, buffeted between runners passing the 300m. POSSIBILITIES – After being informed by the stable representative that POSSIBILITIES had a minor laceration to the off fore leg, the filly underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was subsequently cleared to start. Slow to begin. Race 5: GALLOPERS SPORTS CLUB RATINGS BAND 0 - 65 HANDICAP 1630M SHADOW POWER – Obliged to alter course near the 150m in order to secure clear running. CLIPPER SHIP – Raced wide in the early stages and was permitted to stride forward to a position outside the lead. GOOGAZ – Had difficulty obtaining clear running over the final 100m. ARCHER'S GAME – Laid in from the 800m. Forced wider near the 500m. GODZILLA – Forced wider by ARCHER'S GAME near the 700m. Inconvenienced near the 500m when ARCHER'S GAME was forced wider by MONTE OUTLANDER which shifted out to improve. MONTE OUTLANDER – Bumped at the start by SIMPLY FUN. Shifted out to improve near the 500m. SACRED BULL (NZ) – Slow to begin. Held up for clear running from the 500m. Near 200m became awkward at heels and had to be steadied and from this point was unable to obtain clear running and went to the line without being fully tested. Race 6: XXXX BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP 1630M TUHINGA – Over raced near the 1100m, restrained from heels and shifted wider for a short distance. Raced wide. BAGLIONI – Reared as the start was effected and lost significant ground. COUNTER (GB) – When asked to comment on the performance, Jockey J. Orman reported his mount travelled comfortably throughout until asked for an effort from the 600m and failed to respond to his riding. He further added the gelding may be suited to more rain affected conditions. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. THESECONDATPORTSEA – Held up rounding the home turn. WOWIT'S WILLYWONKA – After the running of the race, it was noted the gelding had lost its near fore plate. ORIGINAL GLAZE – After the running of the race, it was noted the mare had lost its off hind plate. HARMONY REIGNS (NZ) – Raced wide. Race 7: MAGIC MILLIONS GOLD COAST MARCH CLASS 1 PLATE 1350M HEMAN – Stewards accepted the explanation tendered for the late rider alteration (J. Huxtable replacing N. Beriman). After the race it was noted the gelding had lost its off fore plate. INFLUENTIAL – Raced wide for the majority. SWITCHBLADE – Raced wide for the majority. SPIRIT FOX – Began awkwardly. BETATHANEVA – Began awkwardly and bumped FERINO (NZ). FERINO (NZ) – Bumped at the start. Had difficulty securing clear running in the home straight. When asked to comment on the performance, Jockey A. Jones stated she had been obliged to niggle the horse during the middle stages to hold its position. She indicated that the horse was doing its best work over the concluding stages and would appreciate a step up in distance. AUTUMNGIRL – When asked to comment on the performance, Jockey J. Orman reported the filly travelled comfortably, however when asked to quicken after passing the 400m, did not finish the race off as anticipated. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to be exhibiting clinical signs of a poor post-race recovery and mild heat stress. When asked to comment on the performance, Trainer K. Schweida stated the horse had missed a start due to a washed out meeting a fortnight ago and as a result has not started for five weeks and in his opinion may have had an affect on the horse’s finishing effort. He also indicated the horse may appreciate racing on more rain affected services and would now be sent for a spell. JULIETA – Slow to begin. DURUSEHVAR – Slow to begin. After the race it was noted the mare had lost its off hind plate. EASY COMPANY – Improved onto heels near the 700m and as a result shifted wider and raced wide from that point onwards. CLAUDIUS – Over raced in the middle stages. Race 8: LADBROKES BET TICKER RATINGS BAND 0 - 65 HANDICAP 1200 M KWAMI – Began very awkwardly and made contact with the barrier partition and lost ground. Over raced outside the lead after passing the 900m until approaching the 600m. BILLY'S BRO – Shifted out abruptly at the start and made contact with ADMONISH. DRANG A TANG – Began awkwardly, shifted in and made contact with EXTREME SPIRIT. ADMONISH – Tightened for room at the start and lost significant ground. EXTREME SPIRIT – Tightened for room at the start. WORTHY ESSGEE – Slow to begin. THE PLAYER – Underwent a pre-race veterinary inspection after making contact with the rail enroute to the barriers and was subsequently cleared to start. Began awkwardly and made heavy contact with the barrier partition and lost significant ground. Blundered when crossing the finishing line.
