Stewards permitted the following overweights:
Race 3 – J. Huxtable +0.5kg.
Race 1: RACECOURSE VILLAGE QTIS TWO-YEAR-OLD HANDICAP 1200 M
MR WORTHINGTON – Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
IDYLLIC AFFAIR – Over raced during the early stages.
BOOMSHANKA – Lost near hind plate.
MAKING NEWS – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
Race 2:GIRLS DAY OUT 1 MARCH BENCHMARK 80 HANDICAP 2200 M
IVERSON – Laid out rounding the home turn. Had difficulty obtaining clear running until the 200m.
LIONEL (GB) – Forced three wide near the 1200m and continued to race wide until the 800m to obtain a position outside the leader.
LUCKY EXCHANGE – Raced wide for the majority.
ALDEENAARY (IRE) – Bumped shortly after the start when IVERSON shifted out. Approaching the 100m raced in restricted room and passing the 50m, obliged to steady after becoming awkward at the heels of IVERSON whilst weakening. Jockey J. Orman reported his mount didn’t let down as expected in the home straight. Stable representative for C. Waller was advised to report back in the days subsequent.
CHASSAGNE – Slow to begin.
SIMPLY REFUSE – Slow to begin. Laid in under pressure in the home straight whilst racing in restricted room.
TERMITE – Stewards permitted Apprentice T. Fenlon to only claim 0.5kg of her allowance.
Race 3:BECOME A BRC MEMBER BENCHMARK 68 HANDICAP 1600 M
COUP DE TONNERRE – Over raced during the early stages.
ORIGINAL GLAZE – Bumped after the start. Raced wide throughout. Apprentice J. Franklin reported that his instructions were to roll forward to the lead and as such Apprentice Franklin was racing in a three wide position, waiting for the tempo to slacken in order to roll forward and obtain a leading position. He stated that there was genuine tempo during the race and from 600m as the pace kept increasing, the mare didn’t let down as expected. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
THESECONDATPORTSEA – Shifted out and bumped ORIGINAL GLAZE. Near the 1400m, had to be steadied from heels.
TAMBOURINE MAN – Shifted out after the start. Near the 700m, steadied from heels. Momentarily held up for clear running on entering the home straight.
CHINCHILLA AHEAD – Near the 1400m, had to be steadied from heels.
THREE GRACES – Obliged to alter course passing the 200m to improve into clear running.
HAYSIRI – Slow to begin. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a laceration to the geldings off fore knee.
MYCHYNA (NZ) – Lost near hind plate.
SMART ACTION – Momentarily held up for clear running on entering the home straight.
Race 4:THANKS NEVILLE BELL CLASS 6 HANDICAP (WEIGHTS RAISED 0.5KG) 1600 M
CUNNAMULLA FELLA – Shortly after straightening was momentarily inconvenienced after having its hind quarters turned by TENZING (NZ) which shifted in marginally.
TENZING (NZ) – Laid in under pressure in the early part of the home straight, commencing to shift out over the concluding stages before being corrected.
SOLAR APEX – Slow to begin.
HARBOURMASTER – Raced in restricted room on entering the home straight. Apprentice B. Wheeler reported his mount travelled well throughout but failed to let down as expected in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery.
NAVAL SEAL – Slow to begin.
Race 5: M2 ELECTRICAL NO METRO WINS HANDICAP 1110 M
JACK BE LUCKY – Raced wide throughout. Passing the 50m, obliged to steady to avoid the heels of MAXIMUM VORTEX which shifted in.
MAXIMUM VORTEX – Shifted in and bumped TRACK TALE. Raced wide throughout.
TRACK TALE – Bumped after the start. Examined by the Club Doctor after the running of Race 5 after reporting a foot injury and was cleared to fulfil his remaining engagements.
THE FIXER – Lost near fore plate.
GROOVIN' THE MOO – Lost near fore plate.
KEMI ZABI – Over raced during the early stages.
TARPS – Had to be steadied approaching the winning post and was unable to fully test her mount to the line. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
ALL STASHED UP – Dislodged in the mounting yard. Approaching the winning post, restrained from heels after being carried in by TRACK TALE, which was taken in by THE FIXER after further being carried inwards by KEMI ZABI which was carried in by MAXIMUM VORTEX (C. Graham) which shifted in when insufficiently clear. Jockey C. Graham, rider of MAXIMUM VORTEX pleaded guilty to careless riding pursuant to AR 131(a) in that over the concluding stages, she allowed her mount to shift in under riding carrying KEMI ZABI onto THE FIXER which was carried in onto TARPS and as a result Apprentice J. Hampson, rider of TARPS had to steady and was also carried in onto TRACK TALE which was then carried onto ALL STASHED UP who had to steady from the heels of DECISIVE LASS. Jockey C. Graham’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 12 days, commencing midnight 2/2/2025 up to and concluding midnight 14/2/2025.
MR WANDJI – Began awkwardly. Raced wide with cover.
SADDLE BOY – Over raced during the early stages.
DECISIVE LASS – Began awkwardly.
Race 6: XXXX CLASS 2 PLATE 1350 M
The start of this race was delayed after ISLE ORNSAY reared and fell backwards during the loading process. ISLE ORNSAY was declared a late scratching on veterinary advice at 3:10pm. Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Stewards declared that all bets placed on ISLE ORNSAY be refunded with the following deductions to apply:
1st – FUKUBANA 4c win, 3c place
2nd – NO NAME FRANK 8c place
3rd – RED DEFCON 6c place
Trainer B. Lockwood was advised ISLE ORNSAY would require a veterinary clearance and must trial satisfactorily prior to resuming.
BOLD SMUGGLER – Began awkwardly.
RAMPANT LION – Slow to begin.
RED MILE – Raced wide throughout.
SO BRIGHT – Began awkwardly.
NAGAMIE – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Approaching the 200m, obliged to alter course after becoming awkwardly placed on the heels of RED DEFCON.
PRO FORMA – Passing the 900m had to be restrained to avoid the heels of NAGAMIE which was carried in by SO BRIGHT which shifted in when insufficiently clear. Apprentice E. Lang rider of SO BRIGHT was severely reprimanded pursuant to AR 131(a) for this incident.
RED DEFCON – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Jockey C. Graham reported her mount failed to settle after racing three wide without cover throughout the event.
Race 7: STRADBROKE SEASON BOOK NOW QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD HANDICAP 1200 M
MISHANI ALOHA – Bumped after the start. Raced wide throughout.
MR BUBBALUSKI – Bumped after the start. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
TERRITORY ASH – Began awkwardly.
KINGDOM UNDERSIEGE – Jockey A. Mallyon reported that in his opinion the gelding proved disappointing and may not have handled the step up in class in today’s event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a poor post-race recovery.
READY TO SCHIPP – Over raced during the early stages. Raced wide throughout.
BLAKEMORE AVENUE – Began awkwardly. Over raced during the middle stages when in restricted room. Passing the 150m, after laying in under pressure, became awkwardly placed on the heels of KINGDOM UNDERSIEGE which shifted out marginally. Raced in restricted room over the concluding stages and was not fully tested to the line.
Race 8: SKY RACING BENCHMARK 85 HANDICAP 1350 M
DREAM HOUR – Slow to begin. Jockey A. Mallyon reported he was satisfied with the way the gelding finished off the event, although in his opinion would benefit in stepping up in distance.
VIMINELE – Raced wide throughout.
SPACE TRACKER (IRE) – Over raced during the early stages.
SLIPPIN' JIMMY – Had to be reshod on arrival to the barriers. Apprentice E. Lang reported her mount proved disappointing and failed to let down as expected. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer D. Vandyke advised Stewards it was now his intention to send the gelding for a spell. Trainer D. Vandyke was advised SLIPPIN’ JIMMY would be required to trial prior to resuming. A post-race swab was taken.
ADDRIEL – Hampered after the start.
AZZAREACH – Hampered on entering the home straight and raced in restricted room between CORFE CASTLE (R. Maloney) which shifted out to improve and SPACE TRAKCER (IRE) (J. Guthmann-Chester) which shifted in marginally. Both R. Maloney & J. Guthmann-Chester were advised to exercise greater care. Jockey A. Jones reported her mount raced flat during today’s event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery.
OUR MAGNUS – Shifted out after the start. Laid out rounding the home turn.
IVAN'S HERO – Shifted in after the start.
Race 9: LADBROKES FORM GENIUS OPEN HANDICAP 1200 M
COIN TOSS – Slow to begin. Jockey S. Cormack reported his mount weakened noticeably when placed under pressure in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer T. Dougall was advised COIN TOSS would be required to trial prior to resuming.
SAFEWORK – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
BRING ME KASH – Near the 900m, obliged to steady from the heels of KING KAPA which shifted in when insufficiently clear. Jockey C. Graham rider of KING KAPA was severely reprimanded pursuant to AR 131(a) for this incident.
HATCHET – Had to be steadied after improving onto heels approaching the winning post.
RUSSIAN ALLIANCE – Apprentice B. Wheeler stated that his intention was to settle further forward, but after failing to muster early gate speed, he settled further back than anticipated and whilst racing between runners, commenced to race fierce and shortly after passing the 800m, had to be restrained off the heels of HATCHET.
Race 10:THE GIBSON CLASS 4 HANDICAP 1200 M
LUBRICATION – Trainer M. Dunn was fined $200 pursuant to LR 67(1) for failing to declare a rider within the prescribed time.
MINTAKA LAD – Raced wide throughout. A post-race swab was taken.
DAMO DAYZ – Passing the 100m, shifted in and away from REDZOUST despite the efforts of its rider, resulting in DAMO DAYZ making contact with MY MUM’S TOYBOY, turning the hind quarters of DAMO DAYZ becoming severely unbalanced.
MOUNT FUJI – Bumped after the start. Raced wide throughout. Near the 500m, steadied from heels. Dropped his whip near the 100m.
NEVER GIVE UP – Inconvenienced passing the 100m after having to take evasive action.
JAYANTHI – Held up for clear running on entering the home straight.
MY MUM'S TOYBOY – Began awkwardly. Over raced during the early and middle stages. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. On entering the home straight laid in, contacting SURFERS ROYALE. Passing the 150m shifted in, contacting JAYANTHI and shortly thereafter was carried out marginally, resulting in the gelding racing in restricted room between JAYANTHI and DAMO DAYZ and after contacting the hind quarters of JAYANTHI and brushing DAMO DAYZ, was carried in across the heels of JAYANTHI, clipping that runners’ heels and almost dislodging Jockey M. Hellyer and taking no further competitive part in the race. A post-race veterinary examination revealed two minor abrasions to its near hind hock.
VOLCANIC LOVE – Bumped after the start.
SURFERS ROYALE – Bumped on entering the home straight. Hampered passing the 100m.
MISS BAYLES – Steadied from heels leaving the 500m.
FIGHTING IDOL – Held up on entering the home straight and was obliged to alter course and shift in to improve. Raced in restricted room until the 100m and shortly after was momentarily inconvenienced after contacting SURFERS ROYALE.
