Forster reported after this event that the following morning that EXECUTIVE STRESS had blood in both nostrils following a barrier incident in Race 6. Trainer D. Forster reported the gelding would now go for a short freshen up. GENERALAs Apprentice J. Franklin was indisposed and unable to fulfil his engagements in races 1, 2 and 3, he was subsequently replaced as per the Race Day Summary. As Jockey H. Van Der Hoven was overweight in race 7 on HYDE, he was subsequently replaced by Jockey R. Stewart. H. Van Der Hoven was fined $100 pursuant to AR 190(3) for accepting a ride when overweight. Race 1: RACECOURSE VILLAGE QTIS TWO-YEAR-OLD HANDICAP 1110 M DRINKWATER – Slow to begin. Over raced during the early stages whilst being restrained in an attempt to find cover. Co Trainer T. Edmonds was fined $100 pursuant to LR 67(1) for failing to declare a rider within the prescribed time. JAGGERY – Laid in under pressure in the straight. SUNRAYS – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. LONESOME SOUL – Slow to begin. Passing the 800m whilst racing in restricted room was obliged to steady from heels. Race 2: GIRLS DAY OUT 1 MARCH BENCHMARK 68 HANDICAP 1600 M SHARP DAZZLER – Raced wide throughout. Apprentice C. Bellamy stated that her mount travelled well throughout the event but when asked for an effort in the home straight, failed to let down as expected. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery. TUHINGA – Over raced during the middle stages. JUST FLYING – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. REBEL'S EDGE – Raced wide throughout. SHADOW POWER – From a wide barrier, restrained to a position closer to the rail. Had difficulty obtaining clear running on entering the home straight. Near the 250m, obliged to shift out to secure clear running. WHISTLING SPIRIT – Commenced to over race passing the 1300m. Passing the 1200m had to be steadied on multiple occasions after the pace of the race slackened. WIREWALKER – Slow to begin. POUTCHEK (GB) – Slow to begin. Race 3: THE GIBSON BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP 2200 M LUCKY EXCHANGE – A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Apprentice C. Collis stated that in his opinion his mount may not have appreciated the tempo of today’s event. Trainer W. Kropp agreed with C. Collis’ comments and was advised to report back to Stewards in the days subsequent. TAPPY'S LAD (NZ) – Raced wide throughout. GULF OF TOMINI – Very slow to begin. LIKEABEEL – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Passing the 200m, had to alter course after improving onto the heels of BILPA MOREA (NZ). PLEADEEL – Shortly after jumping, momentarily inconvenienced by CELESTIAL FURY (NZ) which laid in before being corrected. MAURIZMA – Slow to begin. BILPA MOREA (NZ) – Raced wide throughout. Laid in throughout the event. Race 4: STRADBROKE SEASON BOOK NOW CLASS 1 PLATE 1200 M The start of this race was slightly delayed after SER JOH lost its off fore plate behind the barriers and had to be reshod. BORRELLI – Rider M. Rodd reported that he became concerned with the action of the gelding over the concluding stages and elected to not place BORRELLI under pressure over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery. MERCIAN – Over raced during the middle stages. PRE EMINENCE – Rider M. Harley reported that his mount laid in under pressure in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed mild heat stress. SER JOH – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start. VINDICTA – A post-race veterinary examination revealed moderate heat stress. ECCLESTONE – Raced wide throughout. Hung out rounding the home turn. When questioned regarding his tactics and settling further back in today’s event, Jockey R. Maloney reported that he rode the gelding with vigor in the early stages in an attempt to establish a forward position, but the gelding failed to muster early speed and settled worse than mid field without cover. Trainer T. Gollan was advised to report on the condition of the gelding in the days subsequent. MIST OF DAWN – Slow to begin. BREEZIN' – Jumped away awkwardly. Raced wide throughout. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. EXTREME SPIRIT – Slow to begin. Race 5: S&T GLASS QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD HANDICAP 1600 M ATOMIC CLOCK – Slow to begin. BOLSHEVIC ROAD – Raced wide during the early stages. IRAMA – Held up rounding the home turn up until the 100m. PRINCE LEVI – Slow to begin. BOLD BLAZE – Raced wide throughout. DRACENA – Raced wide throughout. Race 6: SKY RACING CLASS 3 PLATE 1110 M HIGHBAR – Shifted in after being bumped by SALT LAKE BETTY. Raced wide throughout. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. TELLEZ (NZ) – Began awkwardly. INSTAGOOD – Bumped on jumping. TERMAGANT – Trainer M. Hoysted was advised a warning would be placed on the mare after being reluctant to proceed to the barriers. After the running of this race, Rider N. Beriman was examined by the club doctor after she reported she had leg pain and was subsequently cleared to fulfil her remaining rides. SALT LAKE BETTY – Began awkwardly and shifted in. Passing the 200m was obliged to steady to avoid the heels of HIGHBAR which shifted in under riding. Rider M. Du Plessis was severely reprimanded pursuant to AR 131(a) and reminded of his obligations to be fully clear when shifting ground. DREAM SMART – Declared a late scratching at 1:30pm after being found to be lame in its near foreleg. Trainer L. Birchley was advised DREAM SMART would require a veterinary clearance prior to resuming. Race 7: XXXX OPEN HANDICAP 1600 M ALMANIA (IRE) – Began awkwardly and was bumped shortly after. KRONENBOURG (NZ) – Began awkwardly. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. FLYING TRAPEZE – Began awkwardly. CAPRICE DES DIEUX (FR) – Over raced during the early and middle stages. Laid in throughout the event. Passing the 400m, momentarily inconvenienced by JUNIPAL which shifted out to improve when insufficiently clear to do so. Rider R. Maloney was reprimanded pursuant to AR 131(a) for this incident. HYDE – Passing the 200m, checked from the heels of ALAMANIA (IRE) which shifted in under riding. A. Mallyon rider of ALAMANIA (IRE) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding pursuant to AR 131(a) in that passing the 200m, he allowed his mount to shift in when under hard riding when insufficiently clear of HYDE and as result, HYDE had to be checked from the heels of ALAMANIA (IRE). Jockey A. Mallyon’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 7 days commencing midnight 15/2/2025 up to and including 23/2/2025. After the running of Race 7, the track was upgraded to a Good 3. Race 8: MAGIC MILLIONS GOLD COAST MARCH NO METRO WINS HANDICAP 1350 M ROLL UP – Raced wide with cover throughout. Disappointed for a run on entering the home straight between SUSPECT and THE CATCH. LADY SHOTGUN – Slow to begin. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. THE CATCH – Raced four wide throughout. SHIHAB – Over raced during the early stages. DEMON DARB – Held up for clear running for a short distance approaching the 100m. FLYING BIRDS – Began awkwardly. Raced wide with cover throughout. IMATRUESTAR – Slow to begin. INFLUENTIAL – Had difficulty obtaining clear running on entering the home straight until the 300m. Trainer J. Downes was advised a warning would be placed on the gelding after proving very difficult to move onto the track. LION CLASS – Raced wide with cover throughout. Hampered passing the 200m by THIS’LLBETHEONE which was taken inwards by TAKE A PICTURE. C. Graham rider of TAKE A PICTURE was advised to exercise greater care when shifting ground. NORTH OF ELI – Blundered shortly after the start. DRANG A TANG – Raced wide throughout. SUSPECT – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have cardiac arrythmia. Trainer J. Grob was advised he must obtain a veterinary clearance inclusive of ECG results and gallop 1000m prior to the gelding being permitted to race again. Race 9: BECOME A BRC MEMBER BENCHMARK 78 HANDICAP 1600 M YOUTH SPIRIT (IRE) – Raced wide throughout. Severely hampered and clipped heels on entering the home straight. Rider M. Rodd pleaded guilty to a charge pursuant to AR 131(a) in that on entering the home straight, he allowed his mount to shift out to the outside of HADOUKEN, contacting TRIFLING which was carried out onto EXPECTANT which was carried out across the heels of YOUTH SPIRIT (IRE) which had to be checked to avoid heels. Rider M. Rodd’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 9 days, commencing midnight 15/2/2025 up to and including 25/2/2025. HADOUKEN – Began awkwardly. Apprentice T. Fenlon reported her mount hung out during the home straight. YET HE MOVES – Hampered rounding the home turn. WITHOUT THINKING – Began awkwardly. MASTER COPY (IRE) – Slow to begin. THAT'S MOLLY – Hampered rounding the home turn. Race 10: LADBROKES BLACKBOOK BENCHMARK 85 HANDICAP 1200 MDALAVIN – Began awkwardly. LOST IN TRANSIT – Held up for clear running on entering the home straight. Near the 200m raced in restricted room between HURTS SO GOOD and MASTER SHOWMAN. MASTER SHOWMAN – Near the 600m had to be restrained after improving onto the heels of HURTS SO GOOD. HURTS SO GOOD – Over raced during the early and middle stages. YOSHINO – Restrained after the start to a position closer to the rail. AMORE VELOCE – Began awkwardly. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be lame in its off foreleg. Trainer R.
