GENERAL

Due to the track downgrades stewards acceded to trainers' requests for the late scratching of horses as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.


RACE 1: VARIETY THE CHILDREN'S CHARITY QTIS 2YO H’CAP - 1200M

DIA DE REYES – Slow to begin.

ROTHABYE – Blundered on jumping away and lost ground.

HAPPY EVENT – Lost a near hind plate in running.

AQUAJEWEL – App T. Brooker reported at scale that her mount hung out throughout the event.

Following the running of this event the track was downgraded to a Soft 6.
RACE 2: KANGA COURIERS CLASS 3 PLATE - 1800M

WIMPOLE STREET – Shortly after the start had to be checked when tightened for room.

BAZZABEEL – Taken out and hampered shortly after the start. Finished a distant last, examined by the veterinary surgeon who reported the gelding had suffered a bleeding attack during the event. Trainer B. Smith was advised that the gelding will incur a mandatory 3 month ban from racing and must gallop satisfactorily over 1000m prior to racing again.

KASHARN – Trainer C. Karakatsanis reported that the gelding failed to handle today's track conditions.

Following the running of this event the track was downgraded to a Soft 7.


RACE 3: CALTEX EAGLE FARM OPEN H’CAP - 1400M

TRUBIA – Pulled hard in the early stages. A post race veterinary examination revealed the horse had bled from one nostril during the event. Trainer M. Lakey was advised that the horse must gallop satisfactorily over 1000m prior to racing again.

SALUTER – App J. Oliver reported that the gelding failed to handle the track conditions today.

Following the running of this event the track was downgraded to a Heavy 8.


RACE 4: VARIETY QUEENSLAND CUP - 3200M

KURRAJONG DRAGON – Pulled hard in the middle stages.

INSTRUMENTALIST – Pulled hard in the middle stages.

VALTARI – Pulled hard in the middle stages.

VIVA ESPANA – Near the 100m laid in under pressure and bumped another runner.

MULLET MAN – Bumped near the 100m.

JIAYUGUAN – Jockey D. Browne reported that the mare did not quicken when placed under pressure from the 600m. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant findings.

POP 'N' SCOTCH – Lost a near fore plate in running.


RACE 5: BOQ VICTORIA POINT NMW H’CAP - 1400M

RETUNE - As G. Colless was overweight stewards permitted A. Spinks to be replaced as the rider. G. Colless was subsequently fined $200.00.

TULIMAN was withdrawn at 2.46 p.m. by order of stewards acting on veterinary advice after the gelding was kicked behind the barriers. All monies invested on TULIMAN were ordered to be refunded. Deductions applicable to bets placed on winner and placegetters prior to 2.46 p.m.:-

5 cents in the dollar for the win - #5 (ONE INCH PUNCH)
5 cents in the dollar for the place of winner - #5 (ONE INCH PUNCH)
6 cents in the dollar for the 2nd place - #15 (MONSTER OF ENERGY
6 cents in the dollar for the 3rd place - #16 (SAN TELMO)

The start was further delayed when SHOWER OF HEARTS after being loaded into the incorrect barrier, was removed and then refused to be reloaded into its correct barrier. SHOWER OF HEARTS was subsequently declared a late scratching at 2.49 p.m. All monies invested on SHOWER OF HEARTS were ordered to be refunded. Deductions applicable to bets placed on winner and placegetters prior to 2.49 p.m.:-

3 cents in the dollar for the win - #5 (ONE INCH PUNCH)
3 cents in the dollar for the place of winner - #5 (ONE INCH PUNCH)
3 cents in the dollar for the 2nd place - #15 (MONSTER OF ENERGY
4 cents in the dollar for the 3rd place - #16 (SAN TELMO)

BRACTEATE – After leaving the 1200m when steadying had to be restrained away from heels.

EMBLEY – Near the 1200m had to be steadied away from heels.

NICKED AND COURT – Near the 500m had to be steadied away from heels.


RACE 6: POWERTRAIN QTIS 3YO PLATE - 1500M

LEGAL PROCEDURE – Jumped away awkwardly. Hampered near the 900m when taken wider on the track.

TIME TO TORQUE – Shifted out near the 900m. Pulled hard in the middle stages.

ARTHUR LE ROI – Jockey A. Allen reported that his mount did not handle the track conditions today. A post race veterinary examination of the gelding failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.

SALMANAZAR – Jockey J. Bryne reported at scale that in his opinion his mount did not appreciate the track conditions today.

Following the running of this event the track was downgraded to a Heavy 9.


RACE 7: UNIVERSAL SHEETMETAL CLASS 6 PLATE - 1200M

WHERE'S THATDRAGON – Jumped away awkwardly.

ASSERTORY – Inclined to hang out after leaving the 600m.

RED DYNAMITE – When questioned regarding the performance jockey G. Colless stated that his mount travelled well until placed under pressure in the straight and failed to respond to his riding. A post race veterinary examination of the gelding failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.


RACE 8: VARIETY THE CHILDREN'S CHARITY CLASS 6 PLATE - 1600M

No racing incidents.
