SUPPLEMENTARY
 
From Doomben Race Meeting 1/10/2016 – Race 5
 
Trainer C. Munce reported that CAPTAIN DODGE, which bled from one nostril, would now be sent for a spell.
 
 
Race 1: BRC Spring Carnival QTIS 3YO Fillies Maiden H'Cap – 1200m
 
WRONG BIAS – Blundered on jumping.  Passing the 1000m had to be steadied away from the heels of VITAL LOVE.  App S. Fawke (VITAL LOVE) was advised to exercise more care when shifting ground.
 
DANGEROUS DESIRE – Jumped away awkwardly.
 
MIABLA – Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
Jockey B. Pengelly (MIABLA) was stood down by the Club Doctor after sustaining an injury to his right ankle during the event.  Jockey Pengelly was subsequently replaced by J. Byrne as the rider of MADAM SHAZAM in Race 3.
 
Following the running of this event the track was downgraded to a Soft 5 retrospective.
 
 
Race 2: Veuve Society QTIS 3YO Colts & Geldings Maiden H'Cap – 1200m
 
As J. Morris was indisposed due to illness stewards permitted A. Spinks to be substituted as the rider of CHIC SOX.
Trainer T. Thomas was fined $200.00 for failing to declare P. Romeo as the rider of ATOMIC MISSILE by the required time.
 
The start was delayed when ALL PLUCK proved difficult to load.
 
FRENCH DESCENT – Slow to begin.
 
ATOMIC MISSILE – Slow to begin.  Raced wide throughout.
 
VALKNUT – Inclined to hang out rounding the home turn.
 
NO ANNAMOSSITY – Held up rounding the home turn.
 
R. Fradd (VALKNUT) was found  guilty of a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR137(a) in that near the 300m he allowed his mount to shift ground when not fully clear of MAD MAGIC, resulting in that horse being tightened for room and having to be steadied away from the heels of VALKNUT. Jockey Fradd's licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of nine (9) days to commence midnight 12 October 2016 and expire midnight 21 October 2016.  In assessing penalty stewards acknowledged jockey Fradd's good race riding record.
 
 
Race 3: Sky Thoroughbred Central Fillies & Mares Maiden H’Cap – 1000m
 
REMLAPS JOY - Prior to the start was inspected by the veterinary surgeon after being restless in the barriers and was cleared to race.
 
TURQUOISE – Slow to begin.  A post race veterinary examination of the filly failed to reveal any abnormalities.
 
CHASE THE WIND – Jumped away awkwardly.
 
MISS COLOMBIA – Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
NOTHIN' ZAPPENIN' - Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
HIRTSHALS – App T. Brooker reported at scale that her mount hung out in the straight and proved difficult to ride.
 
Jockey T. Harrison (ZOUZOUKAKIA) was reprimanded for using her whip on more than 5 occasions prior to the 100m.
 
Race 4: Gallopers Sports Club Colts, Geldings & Entires Maiden H’Cap – 1000m
 
IL RICCIO was withdrawn at 8.13 a.m. by order of stewards acting on veterinary advice.
 
OH BOY – Slow to begin.  Near the 250m struck heels,  blundered and lost ground.
 
PARK CHINOIS – Jumped away awkwardly.
 
GLENTURRET -  Near the 250m shifted out under pressure.
 
HENRY'S AFFAIR – Near the 250m shifted in and made contact with KULABA.
 
KULABA – Trainer J. Symons reported that the gelding had sustained a laceration to the off hind hock.
 
Following the running of this event the track was downgraded to a Soft 6 retrospective.
 
 
Race 5: Hamilton Hotel Class 3 H'Cap – 1000m
 
At the request of trainer T. Cotsiopoules POUND THE PAVEMENT was declared a late scratching at 2 p.m.  due to the downgrade of the track.

DAM WONDERFUL – Jockey J. Lloyd momentarily lost the use of his whip when accidentally struck by the whip of G. Colless (ZERO TOLERANCE) near the 300m.
 
Jockey G. Colless (ZERO TOLERANCE) was fined $100.00 for using his whip on more than 5 occasions prior to the 100m.
 
 
Race 6: Racezone Colts, Geldings & Entires Class 1 H'Cap – 1200m
 
Trainer L. Birchley was fined $100.00 for the late declaration of App J. Oliver as the rider of DAZZLE US AGAIN.
 
LAREBIL – Near the 1150m had to be steadied when tightened for room. Overraced in the early stages.
 
D'HARMONY – Near the 1150m had to be steadied when tightened for room.  Jockey P. Hammersley reported that in his opinion the gelding did not handle the track conditions today and was very disappointing.  A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities and a swab sample was taken.
 
ROTHBURY –Steadied to avoid heels at the 1100m.
 
JOHNNY BE QUICK – Jockey B. Stewart was reprimanded for allowing his mount to shift in near the 1100m when not fully clear of another runner.
 
HAVANA CIGAR – Stewards questioned trainer J. Meagher regarding the improved performance of the gelding. The only explanation Mr Meagher could offer was that he had changed the horse's track work since its disappointing performance at Doomben with additional sprint work.
 
B. Stewart (JOHNNY BE QUICK) was reprimanded for using his whip on more than 5 occasions prior to the 100m.
 
 
Race 7: Canadian Club Melbourne Cup Day Fillies & Mares Class 1 H'Cap – 1200m
 
At the request of trainer L. Birchley DEEP HARBOUR was declared a late scratching at 2.55 p.m. due to the downgrade of the track.
 
LIPSYNC – Jumped away awkwardly and was then hampered shortly after the start by another runner.
 
POMPEII FLYER – Jumped away awkwardly.
 
PARMELIA – Shifted in on jumping away and bumped another runner.  Near the 1000m had to be steadied away from heels.  App T. Brooker (LE JEU) was advised to exercise more care when shifting ground.
 
ROSE OF WOORIM – Hampered shortly after the start when tightened for room.

SUBSOLAR – Approaching the first turn had to be eased and steadied away from heels.
 
App J. Oliver (PARMELIA) was fined $200.00 for using his whip on more than 5 occasions prior to the 100m.
 
 
Race 8: Christmas Functions @ BRC Benchmark 75 H'Cap – 1600m
 
PUTAPAVONIT – Passing the 1000m was tightened for room between runners and became unbalanced.
 
TOUCH OF BELLA – Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
K. Yoshida (PUTAPAVONIT) was reprimanded for using his whip on more than 5 occasions prior to the 100m.
 
R. Fradd (SAGAMAMA) was reprimanded for using his whip on more than 5 occasions prior to the 100m.
