POP 'N' SCOTCH – Jockey R. Fradd was questioned regarding the tactics adopted on the gelding, particularly after having a trailing position and shifting out 3 wide after leaving the 1000m.  He stated that when the pace was only steady he elected to improve as he was advised that the gelding is one paced and would not be able to sprint quickly after the tempo quickened. He added it was only its second run after a break from racing and would be better suited over longer distances.

4 cents  in the dollar on the face value of  2nd place bets
4 cents  in the dollar on the face value of 3rd place bets

Following the event, trainer Mr D. Hansen advised he had requested that the filly be taken to the barriers early and to be loaded first.  Starter Mr R. Smith confirmed that he had this advice on his Starters Report whereby  he had 2 horses to load first – SHE'S SO MEAN and ICE FROST.  Mr Smith added that his barrier attendant had loaded ICE FROST first whilst the barrier blanket was being fitted to SHE'S SO MEAN, which then was  attempted to be loaded but refused to do so.    Mr Hansen will be advised that due to the circumstances no bar would be placed on SHE'S SO MEAN, however a further warning would be issued against the filly.  As horses returned to scale Mr Hansen displayed his dissatisfaction to the starter regarding SHE'S SO MEAN being scratched   at which time stewards intervened and  reminded him  of his obligations as a licensee to  conduct himself properly at all times.
