Stewards accepted the explanation tendered by App C. Hall for being unable to fulfil her riding engagements today. App Hall was subsequently replaced as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.
 
Race 1: TAB QTIS 3YO Fillies Handicap – 1000m
 
As R. Wiggins was overweight Stewards permitted J. Bayliss to be substituted as the rider of JAZZ QUEEN.  Jockey Wiggins was fined $150.
 
CLAIRVUE MISSY – Lost ground on jumping when crowded between ZAC ATTACK, which jumped outwards and BETTER THINKING, which was carried inwards by SECONDOFMAY. Held up in the early part of the straight.
 
BETTER THINKING – Hampered on jumping when SECONDOFMAY jumped inwards and CLAIRVUE MISSY was carried outwards by ZAC ATTACK.
 
MOCKING – Slow to begin and raced wide throughout.
 
REAL SWEET – Held up in the straight and was taken outwards passing the 350m.
 
JAZZ QUEEN – Held up and unable to improve between the 400m and 200m.
 
SUKWHINDER – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
Race 2: BRC Memberships Open Handicap – 1000m
 
WHYPEEO – Slow into stride and lost ground after jumping away extremely awkwardly. Near the 500m was eased outwards after racing up and becoming awkwardly placed at the heels of BOOMWAA. Trainer T. Edmonds was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding in relation to its barrier manners.
 
SINGLE BULLET – Lost a near fore plate in running.
 
App N. Keal (TISANI TOMSO) was fined $300 for failing to claim his full allowance.
 
Following the running of this event the track was upgraded to a GOOD 3.
 
 
Race 3: Country Music Raceday Benchmark 75 Handicap – 2400m
 
As R. Wiggins was overweight Stewards permitted M. McGillivray to be substituted as the rider of MISS FRASER.  Jockey Wiggins was fined $150.
 
Trainer M. Callaghan was fined $100  for the late declaration of M.  Hellyer as the rider of UNIQUE MISTIQUE.
 
CORONATION GLADE – Trainer J. Stanton advised the gelding would be ridden forward today if circumstances permit. The gelding was ridden accordingly. Due to the poor performance Mr Stanton was advised the gelding would not be permitted to race in the metropolitan area until such time it shows competitive form.
 
VELITES – Slow to begin. Near the 2100m had to be steadied when racing tight to the inside of SAVVY ACQUISITION, which shifted in.
 
BRONZEGATE – Slow into stride.
 
SAVVY ACQUISITION – Jumped away awkwardly.
 
SENSATION ALLY – Eased approaching the 2000m to the inside of CORONATION GLADE, which shifted in. App S. Thornton (CORONATION GLADE) was reprimanded and advised to give runners more room when shifting ground in future.
 
OCEAN ADDICT – Passing the 600m was held up and hampered from the heels of CORONATION GLADE, which was giving ground.
 
CATCH ME LATAR – Laid inwards in the straight.
 
MISS FRASER – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
 
Race 4: Big Screen On The Green Class 6 Plate – 1815m
 
ZOFFANY ROCKET – Slow to begin.
 
CORMAC – Raced three wide form the 600m.
 
CHOPPA – A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding not to be striding freely in front. Due to the poor performance trainer G. Sitek was advised that the gelding would not be permitted to race in the metropolitan area until such time it show competitive form.
 
 
Race 5: Ariat Country Music Rodeo Open Handicap – 1400m
 
SOVEREIGN NATION – Slow to begin.
 
SO SPIRITED – Raced wide throughout. When questioned regarding the run of SO SPIRITED App S. Thornton stated that the instructions were to attempt to get cover just off the pace. She further stated that after jumping well IN HIS STRIDE improved to her inside resulting in SO SPIRITED racing three wide throughout. Stewards advised App Thornton that after jumping well she should have made an effort earlier to get closer to the rail, which may have resulted in SO SPIRITED racing outside the leader. As such App Thornton was advised to show greater initiative in future.
 
 
Race 6: Melbourne Cup Day @ Eagle Farm QTIS 3YO Colts & Geldings Handicap – 1000m
 
EMOTIVE MOUNTAIN – Slow to begin. Eased over the concluding stages when racing to the inside of JELVISS, which shifted in.
 
RUUCA – Shortly after the start laid inwards slightly and was steadied off the heels of EEYORE, which rolled out. Inclined to lay outwards and was bumped by JELVISS, which rolled out near the 700m. Raced wide throughout.
 
GO DEEP – From the wide barrier was taken backwards shortly after the start in order to obtain a position closer to the fence.
 
JAGGED EDGE – Buffeted near the 500m between RUUCA and COMBAT KID, which shifted out and away from RIVER ROCKET.
 
 
Race 7: Moet & Chandon Chairman’s Club Benchmark 70 Handicap – 1200m
 
FOXY AFFAIR – Slow to begin.
 
VERANES – Slow to begin.
 
RABBIT HUNTER – Proved very difficult to settle in the early stages. Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
RIVER FLYER – Raced keenly in the early stages.
 
IGNITE THE LIGHT – A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have a slow post race recovery.
Race 8: WWW.BRC.COM.AU Class 3 Plate – 1400m
 
Trainer M. Currie was fined $100 for the late declaration of App B. Nothdurft as the rider of COUNTESS DE GALVEZ.
 
BLACK AND TAN – Lost ground on jumping when crowded between FULL NELSON and GREAT POWERS, which shifted outwards.
 
MARMARIS – Slow to begin. Shortly after passing the 1000m was eased when crowded to the inside of TEDDER AVENUE, which shifted in and away from ROTHMAN.
 
ZOUCARA – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout.
 
FULL NELSON – When racing keenly shortly after the start had to be steadied off the heels of OUR GIRL SILKE.
 
AEECEE TONG DE – Pulled extremely hard in the early stages and had to be restrained off the heels of COUNTESS DE GALVEZ shortly after passing the 1100m.
 
RED DOULTON – Passing the 700m was eased off the heels of TEDDER AVENUE.
 
TEDDER AVENUE – Passing the 700m was eased off the heels of ROTHMAN.
 
GREAT POWERS – Raced wide from the 700m.

COUNTESS DE GALVEZ – Lost the near hind plate in running.
 
POTRO DURO – Lost the off hind plate in running.
 
 
Race 9: Events At BRC Class 6 Handicap – 1400m
 
BOLD ASSASSIN – Slow to begin.
 
POWERLINE – Buffeted on jumping.
 
MONACO SNOB – Crowded shortly after the start between EMINENT, which was carried
inwards by COURTZA KING and TOKORIKI LAD, which was carried outwards by UNLIKELY
STORY.
 
RECKLESS CHOICE – Passing the 1100m was eased off the heels of RED CHASE, which shifted in. Raced three wide from the 800m.  Whilst the racing manners of RED CHASE were taken into account jockey M. Du Plessis was advised to give runners to his inside sufficient room at all times.
 
RED CHASE – Hung outwards badly at the 800m and was retired out of the race. When questioned regarding the run jockey M. Du Plessis stated that after being wide early he was attempting to obtain cover but was unable to do so and the gelding then hung outwards abruptly near the 800m and proved difficult to control and as such he eased it out of the race. Jockey Du Plessis further stated that at its previous runs he was able to obtain cover and believed that racing on the outside on this occasion may have contributed to the gelding hanging outwards. Trainer D. Forster advised Stewards that the gelding had shown tendencies to be field shy previously and with no cover on its outside may have contributed to the gelding hanging outwards. Ms Forster further advised that she would now spell RED CHASE and trial it before it returns to racing. As such Ms Forster was advised that the gelding will require a barrier trial prior to racing again. Stewards also intend to review the wagering and betting transactions in regards to this race. A post race veterinary examination the gelding to be sore in the off fore fetlock.
 
Jockey M. Murphy (OINK) was fined $200 for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m. In determining penalty Stewards took into consideration jockey Murphy’s good record in regards to this Rule.
