Keal was indisposed due to personal reasons Stewards permitted rider changes as per the Stewards Race Day Summary. Race 1: Priceline Pharmacy Ascot QTIS 2YO Handicap – 1300m The start was delayed when ALWAYS BACK JACK proved difficult to load. Trainer T. Button was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding’s barrier manners. ALWAYS BACK JACK – Overraced for a short distance in the early stages passing the 1000m when the tempo of the race was slow. MISHANI MACHINE – Overraced for a short distance in the early stages passing the 1000m when the tempo of the race was slow. Race 2: Trump Flooring Class 4 Plate – 2212m HUSSON’S PRIDE – Jumped awkwardly and shifted out making contact with GRAND SHANGHAI. GRAND SHANGHAI – Hampered at the start. Inclined to shift out under pressure over the final 200m.TACTICAL MANUEVER – Moved forward three wide from the 1100m to race outside the leader near the 1000m. Race 3: Priceline Pharmacy James Street QTIS 3YO Handicap – 1815mVIOLET – Commenced to overrace near the 1000m and had to be restrained from the heels of NEPTUNE’S CHOICE. Held up in the home straight until leaving the 250m. EMPIRE GAMES – Raced three wide without cover throughout. BADOOSH – Stewards questioned Jockey R. Fradd regarding his riding tactics on BADOOSH, in particular leaving the 600m where he had an opportunity to improve to the inside of CABOCHON LIL and trail SWING SHIFT into the race. Jockey Fradd explained that he was reluctant to improve into this run as he was of the view he was better suited trailing CABOCHON LIL, which was a more fancied runner than SWING SHIFT on the fence. He added that it was apparent soon after straightening that CABOCHON LIL was not improving his position and as VIOLET shifted out and hampered his run he elected to alter course to the outside. Stewards noted his explanation. App B. Nothdurft (VIOLET) was reminded at all times to attempt to keep his mounts on a straight course. Race 4: RBWH Foundation One Metro Win This Season Handicap – 1600m. BARBADOS STORM – Struck the rail leaving the mounting yard, was examined by the Club’s veterinary surgeon upon arrival at the barriers and cleared to start. AKAGE – Began awkwardly. MOTION GRANTED – Laid in near the 650m and made heavy contact with the running rail. ADMIRAL JELLO – Lost the off hind plate in running. Race 5: Trump Flooring Benchmark 70 Handicap – 1000m WRITTEN WITH EASE – Jockey R. Maloney reported his mount never travelled comfortable throughout and was disappointing in its finishing effort. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to be lame in the near fore leg. Trainer S. Kendrick was advised that a veterinary clearance must be provided prior to the filly racing again. Race 6: Mullins Lawyers Open Handicap – 1000m GUARD OF HONOUR – Trainer K. Schweida advised the intention would be to settle the gelding further back today if circumstances permit. The gelding as ridden accordingly. SUPER TOO – Jumped awkwardly, shifted out and bumped MR MARKOU. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have coughed and to be slightly short striding in the near fore leg. TISANI MAGIC – Near the 650m had to be eased when it improved into a run to the inside of MR MARKOU where there was doubtful room. PIZONIE – Near the 600m when overracing had to be restrained to avoid the heels of TYCOON ACE, which shifted in when not fully clear. App A. Thompson (TYCOON ACE) was issued with a reprimand and advised to provide his fellow riders with safe racing room when shifting ground in future. RINGO’S A ROCKSTAR – Inclined to hang out approaching and rounding the home turn. TYCOON ACE – Raced three wide throughout. Race 7: TAB Benchmark 75 Handicap – 1400m BOOM BOY – Overraced in the early stages. Shifted in near the 500m despite the efforts of its rider and bumped GUN BOLT heavily. Raced three wide with cover throughout. GUN BOLT – Bumped heavily near the 500m. ZOOLOGY – Near the 200m obliged to alter course to the outside of CAPE WICKHAM in order to improve. RAMTASTIC – Held up from near the 150m until the concluding stages. MOUNTBATTEN – Shifted out and bumped CHAPELCO inside the 100m. CHAPELCO – When weakening was bumped inside the 100m. BOOM BOOM EPIC – Raced three wide without cover throughout. PLITVICE – Raced three wide with cover throughout. SMART AS ATTACK – Jockey R. Maloney was unable to explain the gelding’s disappointing performance. Race 8: Tanqueray QTIS 3YO Handicap – 1400m As B. Stewart was overweight Stewards permitted J. Orman to be substituted as the rider of BALLISTIC BOY. Jockey Stewart was fined $300. MISHANI ROMANCE – Slow to begin. BALLISTIC BOY – When being restrained near the 1000m became unbalanced, shifted out and contacted PULL ANCHOR. SHAKA ROCK – When weakening approaching the 300m shifted in and hampered DEE DAY DIVA. Raced three wide without cover throughout. DEE DAY DIVA – Unable to improve rounding the home turn and also had some difficulty in the early part of the home straight. Hampered approaching the 300m. NAVAL STRIKE – Shifted out under pressure over the final 250m. When asked to comment on today’s performance Trainer K. Kemp explained that NAVAL STRIKE has been racing well and is not suited when racing inside horses and at its most recent start it was checked over the final stages. Mr Kemp added he instructed App M. Wishart to make its final run down the outside, which occurred today. Stewards accepted his explanation. PROFIT – Raced three wide with cover throughout. Race 9: Midori And Koyomi Class 6 Plate – 1200m The start was delayed when INVINCIBLE GANGSTA had to be replated when it cast the off fore plate during its preliminary. SIMPLY SPLASHING – Slow to begin. UMBERTO – Slow to begin. PERFECT AIM – Inclined to hang in for a major part of the home straight, which placed its rider at a disadvantage riding the gelding out. DEFENCE MISSILE – Inclined to lay in over the final 250m. STAR BOY – Raced three wide without cover throughout. A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding, which weakened in the home straight, revealed no significant findings.
