SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT

Sunshine Coast Turf Club – 28th February 2021
Larry Cassidy plead guilty of a charge under AR132(5) in that he used his whip on 17 occasions. Jockey Larry Cassidy license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 7 days, commencing m/n 19/3/21 and set to expire m/n 26/3/21.

Race 1: STRADBROKE SEASON ON SALE NOW BENCHMARK 80 Handicap 1200 metres

CHICO MILAGRO – Began awkwardly. Performed below market expectation, rider M Rodd reported that the gelding had an easy run throughout however could not offer any explanation to the disappointing performance. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination of CHICO MILAGRO returned from racing making an abnormal respiratory noise. Stable representative was notified that he will be required to provide a Veterinary Clearance with satisfactory results of an endoscopic examination prior to the horse racing or trialing again.

LUBUK – Began awkwardly

WONDERFUL RIRI – Began awkwardly. Over-raced in the early stages.

DIXON BAY – Slow to begin. Over-raced in the early stages.

Race 2: TAB VENUE MODE QTIS 3-Y-O Handicap 2206 metres

THE CULLINAN – Near the 150m laid in under pressure and brushed with POINT COUNTERPOINT. Lost off hind plate in running.

BOLD EXECUTIVE – Slow to begin. Laid out under pressure in the home straight.

POINT COUNTERPOINT – Bumped near the 150m.

AMY EKCELS (NZ) – Over-raced whilst being restrained passing the winning post on the first occasion. Leaving the 1600m steadied when improved on the heels of POINT COUNTERPOINT.

Race 3: FOLLOWMONT TRANSPORT QTIS 3-Y-O Handicap 1600 metres


COSMIC GOSSIP – Disappointed for clear running near the 300m.

BACK WHEN – Began awkwardly. Over-raced in the early and middle stages. Raced three wide without cover throughout.

BAHAMUT – Shortly after the start steadied away from LINTHORPE LAD which shifted out.

GULLFOSS – Slow to begin. Over the concluding stages steadied when LINTHORPE LAD laid out under pressure.

KASEAR – Shortly after the start was bumped by BAHAMUT.

LEMON DUCHESS – Slow to begin and a short distance later shifted away from I AM BEAUTY. Over-raced in the early stages.

I AM A BEAUTY – Shortly after the start shifted away from KASEAR. Over-raced in the early stages.

Race 4: CIROC VODKA QTIS 2-Y-O Handicap 1400 metres

KENNY BOY - Apprentice J Huxtable was fined $300 for using the whip 6 times prior to the 100m, which is 1 more than permitted. AR132(7)(a)(ii)

I'VE BEAN THERE – Crowded on jumping between SEEFELD and VALLEY RATTLER which began awkwardly and shifted in.

GYPSY ISLE – Jockey B El-Issa was fined $400 for using the whip 7 times prior to the 100m, which is 2 more than permitted. AR132(7)(a)(ii)

LEAGLESE – Jockey M Cahill was reprimanded for using the whip 6 times prior to the 100m, which is 1 more than permitted. AR132(7)(a)(ii)

MISS GOT – Raced three wide throughout.

SHALUNA – Near the 450m whilst hanging out was eased when awkwardly placed at the heels of LEAGLESE. Apprentice A Thompson was fined $300 for using the whip 6 times prior to the 100m, which is 1 more than permitted. AR132(7)(a)(ii)

Race 5: SILK LASER CLINICS OPEN Handicap 1200 metres

INVINCIBLE AL – Raced keenly in the early middle stages.

MADDI ROCKS – Began awkwardly.

TESARC – Reared when the start was effected and lost ground.

Race 6: GORDON'S PREMIUM PINK GIN BENCHMARK 80 Handicap
2206 metres

STARDOME (NZ) – Began awkwardly. Jockey L Dittman was fined $500 for using the whip 6 times prior to the 100m, which is 1 more than permitted. AR132(7)(a)(ii)

GO DARCY (NZ) – Hung out in the early stages.

LOVEISILI – Lost a near hind plate in running.

ABERLADY – Crowded on jumping between STARDOME which began awkwardly and shifted out and VENDIDIT which shifted in. Raced three wide throughout. Jockey C Meehan was fined $300 for using the whip 6 times prior to the 100m, which is 1 more than permitted. AR132(7)(a)(ii)

Race 7: SKY RACING BENCHMARK 70 Handicap 1300 metres

ALL IMPORTANT – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

DREAMTIMER - Apprentice M Wishart was fined $600 for using the whip 8 times prior to the 100m, which is 3 more than permitted. AR132(7)(a)(ii)

JAKAMA – Began awkwardly. Performed below market expectations, a post-race veterinary examination of gelding did not identify any abnormal findings.

MONTEZ - Jockey B Stewart was fined $500 for using the whip 6 times prior to the 100m, which is 1 more than permitted. AR132(7)(a)(ii)


Race 8: PIMM'S PLATE (Class 6) 1400 metres

UNBIASED – Steadied shortly after the start from the heels of LOVESPEED.

ENTERPRISE PRINCE – Raced three wide with cover throughout.

SPIRIT ESPRIT - Over-raced early and middle stages

WEEKEND AFFAIR – Over-raced early and middle stages

SCOTTISH MIST – Raced three wide throughout. A post-race veterinary examination of the mare did not identify any abnormal findings.

BARODA – Laid out under pressure in the early part of the home straight.

RED DOULTON – Slow to begin.

LUNAR LIGHT – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have bled from both nostrils 1st time. Connections were advised that the horse would incur a 3 month ban from racing and must undertake a 1000m gallop to the satisfaction of Stewards before being permitted to race again. Also it was identified that the mare had cardiac arrythmia connections were advised that the horse shall not start in any race until the Stewards have received a satisfactory veterinary report. The report must include the results of an ECG and must satisfactory gallop of at least 1000m in the presence of Stewards.

LOVESPEED GIRL – Raced three wide without cover throughout

Race 9: Dulux Class 4 Handicap 1200 metres

KUBRICK – Raced wide throughout.

SLOW HANDS (NZ) – Near the 1200m commenced to over-race to the inside of IPSO NEM FELEK. Rider dropped his whip shortly after passing the 250m. A post-race veterinary examination identified lacerations to the near hind leg.

THE MINIVAN – Slow into stride. Held up for clear running over the concluding stages.

ACHIEVE VICTORY – Near 400m steadied off the heels of OUR REBEL which shifted out after being bumped by MOSSHIKI. Held up for clear of concluding stages.

IPSO NEM FELEK – Proved difficult to settle in the early and middle stages.

MOSSHIKI – Had difficulty obtaining clear running in the home straight. Raced in restricted room near the 400m and in doing so made contact with OUR REBEL. Approaching the 100m raced in restricted room and shortly after was tightened for room when THE MINIVAN shifted out abruptly.

OUR REBEL – Near the 1200m improved on the heels of SLOW HANDS.

WAIHORA JEWEL – Raced wide throughout. Steadied near the 700m when awkwardly placed to the inside of KUBRICK.
