QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT EAGLE FARM – WEDNESDAY 23RD MARCH 2022 WEATHER – FINE TRACK RATING –GOOD 4 RAIL – 12M PENETROMETER – 5.68 OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – R HitchenerStewards – D Aurisch, P Zimmermann, C FedrickClerk of Scales – C SimpsonJudge – R Thomas, A Redding, M MahwinneyVeterinarian – Dr G Cavanaugh Swab Attendants – K Kilpatrick, L BobeszkoStarter – H Anderson, R Smith GENERAL As Jockey N Callow was not riding due to personal reasons he was replaced as per the Stewards Summary. Stewards approved the following overweight allowance at today’s meeting- Race 5- JUSTITIA- A Mallyon +1/2kg. Race 1: MOUNT FRANKLIN QTIS Two-Years-Old Colt and GeldingsMaiden Plate 1200 metres DOMINANCE – Raced greenly under pressure in the home straight. When asked to explain today’s performance, rider J Orman stated that he anticipated having the early speed to cross HOBSY in the early stages, however the gelding was unable to muster the necessary pace and as a result raced three wide without cover throughout. He further added that approaching the home turn DOMINANCE was immediately under pressure and weakened in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings. HANG FIVE – Slow to begin. Raced three wide throughout. Was inconvenienced approaching and rounding the home turn when carried wider by RABBIT STU. KINTAMANI – Unable to secure clear running approaching and rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight. MIGHTY JUDD – Steadied off heels near the 500m. PAIENBARA – Slow to begin. RABBIT STU – Hung out approaching and rounding the home turn. Race 2: TAB VENUE MODE QTIS Two-Year-Old Fillies Maiden Plate1200 metres BETTER BELIEVE IT – Over-raced in the early stages. BETTER STRINGS – Slow to begin. Held up in the early stages of the home straight. KIRSTEN – Raced three wide with cover throughout. MISS MERCEDEZ – Slow to begin. Raced wide in the early stages and was restrained to the rear of the field. NAOMI'S REIGN – Raced greenly under pressure in the home straight. THE MISSIONARY – Raced three wide without cover throughout. Race 3: PEACHESTER LODGE Maiden Handicap 1400 metres REALAIDE – Jumped awkwardly. Was held up for clear running rounding the home turn. BONLOE – Blundered at start. DARKENED DESTINY – Jumped awkwardly and shifted in and bumped CLAIRVUE JET. HELL OF A PRINCE – Inclined to lay out rounding the home turn. CLAIRVUE JET – Severely hampered start when bumped by another runner. DEEP THRILLZ -Raced three wide without cover throughout. Race 4: SKY RACING Class 3 Handicap 1500 metres VITESSE FRANCAIS – After beginning well and over-racing badly, the horse raced behind the leader until near the 900m when it shifted out and bumped STELLAR. Was hampered near the 300m when WHO SAID SO shifted out under pressure. Stewards questioned rider J Orman regarding whether he failed to ride the gelding to the finish of the race. Mr Orman explained that he may have stopped riding for two strides approaching the winning post, however he attributed this to being awkwardly placed at the heels of WHO SAID SO. Stewards accepted this explanation. FLYBRIDGE – Slow to begin. WHO SAID SO – When questioned regarding the improved performance, Trainer R Davidson explained that WHO SAID SO was suited leading today and dictating the tempo of the race. He added that he also attributed the improved performance today to the addition of the tongue control bit and the removal of the ear muffs. MISTER WARD – Slow into stride. STELLAR – Was carried wider near the 900m when bumped by VITESSE FRANCAIS. Race 5: TAB STRADBROKE CALCUTTA BENCHMARK 68 Handicap 1800 metres ELIZANO – Raced very fiercely in the early and middle stages. PERFECT WITNESS – Over-raced in the middle stages. RATIONS – Raced three wide in the early stages before being ridden forward to cross to a position with cover near the 1500m. Rider B Stewart was fined $300 under the provisions of 211(2) for returning to scale in excess of a ½ kilogram over his declared weight. SHAMELESS MISS – Tightened for room at the start and lost ground. Rider J Orman reported that being tightened at the start resulted in him settling further back than anticipated. EVITA LA VIE – When restrained to gain a position closer to the rail approaching the first turn clipped the heels of PERFECT WITNESS. Race 6: DBVMS AIR CONDITIONING BENCHMARK 70 Handicap 1000 metres ONE STRYKE- Slow to begin. BESTIE – Unable to secure running in the early stages of the home straight. PLATINUM EUROS – Slow to begin. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn. SWAN ISLAND – Hampered at the start when bumped by KAVAK. DRUMADOIR – Raced three wide with cover throughout. KAVAK – Began awkwardly and shifted in and bumped SWAN ISLAND. MOONAN JOYCE - Raced three wide without cover throughout. Race 7: XXXX DRY Class 1 Plate 1400 metres MIDNIGHT RAMBLER – Inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight. NITROGLYCERINE – Raced three wide without cover throughout. ROACCI – Momentarily tightened for room near the 1100m. SEA PALLING – Eased when racing in restricted room near the 1000m. Disappointed for a run near the 300m before being shifted to the outside to obtain clear running. BIG ANGEL – Checked when tightened for room at the start. Inclined to lay in for a major part of the race. TERANGA – Rider B Thornton reported that his mount was inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight. He added that that the filly will take benefit from the race experience of today’s race given it was only the filly’s second race start.
