Race 3 – Trainer J. Murdoch reported to stewards that Bramble Bay had sustained an injury to the near side eye in running and was now under veterinary treatment.
 
GENERAL
 
Stewards permitted the following overweights:
Race 3 – J. Orman +0.5kg @ 56kg
Race 3 – M. Harley +0.5kg @ 55.5kg
Race 4 – J. Guthmann-Chester +0.5kg @ 56kg
 
 
 

 
Race 1: ARC PROJECTS MAIDEN HANDICAP 1800M
 
KAPAKIRI – Restrained from the wide barrier to obtain a position closer to the rail. Steadied from heels approaching the 1100m and shifted wider. Laid in when placed under pressure at the final 250m.
 
DEFERENTIAL – Over raced in the early and middle stages.
 
CRIMSON REWARD – Over raced in the early and middle stages. Held up approaching the home turn.
 
UNITED FRONT – Over raced in the early and middle stages. Experienced difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the home straight.
 
VICTORY ROLL (NZ) – When asked to comment on the gelding’s performance, jockey Thompson was disappointed with its performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
NO DOUBLE DIPPING – Restrained from the wide barrier to obtain a position closer to the rail.
 
ROYLYN LASS – Near the 1100m forced wider when KAPAKIRI shifted out to avoid heels. Raced wide for the remainder. When asked to comment on the filly’s performance, jockey Thornton stated that it never travelled well throughout the event and was disappointing when placed under pressure in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Corey Munce stable representative for Chris Munce advised it was the stables intention to spell the filly.
 
 
 
Race 2: STEAMATIC RATIINGS BAND 0 - 65 HANDICAP 1000M
 
I AM FEARLESS – Approaching the 150m shifted out under pressure before being corrected by its rider.
 
ORACOLO – Slow to begin and was hampered further when bumped by BOLD RANSOM. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination determined the gelding to be exhibiting clinical signs of mild heat stress.
 
GOOMERI – Leaving the 100m, laid in under pressure before being corrected by its rider. When asked to comment on the gelding’s performance, jockey Harley stated that when placed under the pressure in the home straight it did not extend as expected and proved disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
SUPER ZAMBONI – Shifted out and bumped BOLD RANSOM at the start.
 
BOLD RANSOM – Bumped at the start and was then again bumped heavily on the hind quarters by ORACOLO.
 
 
 
Race 3: BAY BUILDING GROUP MAIDEN PLATE         1000M
 
CONFIRM NOR DENY – Began awkwardly. Raced greenly when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
EVER SO CLEVER – Began awkwardly.
 
PROLIFIC MELODY – Over raced in the middle stages.
 
BEAULINE – Stable advised that the gelding will attempt to be ridden in a more forward position. Settled midfield. Shifted in at the start and bumped SHE'S A FERRARI. Held up entering the home straight to a point approaching the 200m when its rider elected to ease very wide to obtain clear running. When asked to comment on the tactics adopted in particular approaching the 300m, apprentice Graham stated whilst there was limited racing room between SHE’S A FERRAI and CONFIRM NOR DENY approaching the 200m, she was mindful the racing manners of CONFIRM NOR DENY which when tiring raced greenly shifting ground. Stewards noted her comments.
 
IMPENDOR – Held up between the 400m to approximately the 250m. Raced in restricted room near the 300m.
 
JONNY DA WOLF (NZ) – Raced wide throughout. Raced greenly in the home straight.
 
MARGOT'S BULLSEYE – Began awkwardly. Approaching the 700m, had to be eased at the heels of CONFIRM NOR DENY which shifted in when not fully clear. Apprentice M. Castle was advised to exercise greater care when crossing. Held up rounding the home turn. Disappointed for a run leaving the 400m and again approaching the 250m when awkwardly placed on the heels of the tiring CONFIRM NOR DENY. Raced greenly in the home straight. Laid in when placed under pressure.
 
SHE'S A FERRARI – Slow to begin. Bumped by BEAULINE.
 
 
 
Race 4: JOHNS LYNG GROUP QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1400M
 
BOOMING LAD – Jockey Thompson reported it was not his intention to lead however after beginning well and heading SHE MINE near the 1200m he elected to allow his mount to stride forward and reach the lead.
 
BANDASHA – Slow to begin.
 
SHE MINE – Bumped shortly after the start. Raced keen in the early stages. Approaching the 150m, shifted in under pressure before being corrected by its rider.
 
HEADLEY GRANGE – Slow to begin.
 
WINSOME STAR – Slow to begin. Jockey S. Collett was reprimanded pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that she used her whip 7 times prior to the 100m, 2 more than permitted.
 
SHOWDRA – Bumped shortly after the start. Rounding the home turn, bumped by WINSOME STAR when that runner shifted out to improve.
 
 
 
Race 5: MORSE BUILDING CONSULTANCY CLASS 4 HANDICAP  1400M
 
FINSCEAL – Sow to begin. Jockey Dolan dropped his whip near the 150m.
 
LAUNCH PAD – Jockey A. Jones was reprimanded pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that she used her whip 6 times prior to the 100m, 1 more than permitted. When asked to comment on the tactics adopted, jockey Jones stated the instructions were to be positive and in today’s small field she expected position in the first two. Trainer D. Bell further added that the gelding has an established pattern on racing on speed however at its most recent start at Toowoomba on 7 October 2023, he was disappointed with its performance and in his opinion LAUNCH PAD found the track too firm and was unsuited over the 1200m. Trainer Bell indicated that it would now be his likely intention to step the gelding up in distance as the it is one paced. Stewards noted the comments.
 
SELLING SUNSET – Slow to begin.
 
 
 
Race 6: PIRCSA CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1200M
 
ORIENT'S SECRET – Held up rounding the home turn until approaching the 250m.
 
DEALING'S DONE – Disappointed for a run leaving the 300m to the inside of THOMPSON which rolled in slightly then, held up for the remainder of the straight.
 
VICTORIA ROC (NZ) – Approaching the 800m had to be steadied after improving into restricted room between SET TO SHINE and DEALING'S DONE.
 
PARIS AVENUE – Slow to begin. Held up for majority of home straight and was unable to be fully tested by its rider.
 
SET TO SHINE – Raced wide throughout.
 
HELIKEDEMPRETTY – Raced wide throughout. Laid in under pressure over the final 200m. Jockey Dolan was advised to stop and correct his mount from laying in.
 
SHORE TO HAPPEN – Slow to begin. Held up rounding the home turn approaching the 350m. Leaving the 300m shifted out in an attempt to improve and bumped DEALING'S DONE and was then obliged to shift inwards to secure clear running.
 
RUM REVOLUTION – Raced wide throughout. Laid in slightly near the 300m.
 
 
 
Race 7: PATTERSONS BUILD GROUP CLASS 1 HANDICAP         1200M
 
 
BRASCO – Began awkwardly and bumped THE LIONS' GATE.
 
THE LIONS' GATE – Began awkwardly.
 
OUR RED PLANET – Raced wide throughout. Near the 100m when under pressure momentarily laid out before being corrected by its rider.
 
EASY COMPANY – Raced keenly in the middle stages. Forced wider at the 900m momentarily. Bumped near the 100m when OUR RED PLANET shifted out.
 
SPILLIFY – Raced wide throughout.
 
JOVITA – After being crossed at the 900m by JUMP'N FLY shifted out when awkwardly placed at heels.
 
SILVER ONYX – Hampered shortly after the start and lost ground. Raced wide throughout. When laying in near the 250m, steadied from the heels of EASY COMPANY.
 
IT'SMEMARIO – Began awkwardly. When asked to comment on the gelding’s performance, jockey Geran stated that he was held up approaching the home turn and was left flat footed when the race developed into a sprint over the final 400m and was not disappointed with its performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be exhibiting clinical signs of the thumps and muscle soreness.
 
Race 8: LADBROKE IT! BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP 1800M
 
LUCKY EXCHANGE – Disappointed for a run near the 300m between SVINDAL and MIGHTY WILLIE.
 
SVINDAL – Over raced in the early stages. Raced three-wide early before its rider allowed it to ride forward and reached the position outside the leader near the 1000m.
 
MIGHTY WILLIE – Improved onto the heels of HIGHLAND CATHEDRAL approaching the finishing line and was steadied. When asked to comment on the gelding’s performance, jockey Orman stated the horse was under pressure from the 700m was left flat footed and in his opinion it would benefit from a step up in distance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have an upper respiratory noise and would require veterinary clearance to include the results of an endoscopic examination prior to resuming.
 
NOBLE CAT – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination at the barriers after making heavy contact with the parade ring fencing. Subsequently cleared to start.  Slow to begin. Stable representative for Mr Lockwood was advised that the gelding would be required to trial or jump-out to the satisfaction of the stewards prior to resuming which would include satisfactory pre-race manners.
 
ROSE OF DUPORTH – Began awkwardly.  
 
HOSTAGE OF WAR – Cast off-fore plate. Jockey M. Castle was charged and pleaded guilty pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that she used her whip 9 times prior to the 100m, 4 more than permitted and was fined $400.
