Stewards permitted the following overweights:

Race 1: BRC MEMBERSHIP PLUS BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP 1300 METRES
ZHUANG SHI – Held up for clear running on entering the home straight.
TORABELLA – Passing the 700m, obliged to steady to avoid the heels of BAUHINIA ROCK which shifted in when only marginally clear. Apprentice J. Molloy rider of BAUHINIA ROCK was reprimanded pursuant to AR 131(a) for this incident.
BAUHINIA ROCK – Began awkwardly.
SUNLORD – Began awkwardly. Over raced during the middle stages and approaching the 500m had to be restrained after improving onto the heels of MOONAN ME. Held up for clear running on entering the home straight.
TAMBOURINE MAN – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
JOVITA – Began awkwardly.
SUPERHERO – Slow to begin. Jockey J. Collett reported that in his opinion his mount was not suited to the fast tempo of today’s race. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the colt to have mild heat stress.
Race 2: PORTLAND SKY FIRST CROP YEARLINGS @ WIDDEN QTIS 2YO HANDICAP 1200 METRES
BLITZBURG – Raced greenly during the home straight.
GRAFTERBURNERS – Raced greenly during the home straight.
LOCKYER – Over raced throughout the event and for an extended period passing the 800m had to be restrained off heels. Jockey R. Maloney reported that in his opinion the colt may not have appreciated todays track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer T. Gollan was advised to report back to Stewards on the condition of the colt in the days subsequent.
FORMULA ROSSA – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
DERIVATIVE – Reared in the barriers and as a result began awkwardly and lost ground. Jockey J. Parr reported that his mount sweated up in the preliminary and was fractious in the barriers and in his opinion had run its race before the start. Trainer T. Busuttin was advised DERIVATIVE would have a warning placed on the colt. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the colt to have mild heat stress.
ASTERN EFFORT – Bumped after the start by LOCKYER. Raced wide throughout.
Race 3: LADBROKES EAGLE WAY QTIS 3YO 2100 METRES
MADAME LEXIS – Raced keenly during the early stages.
BANKISA BEACH – Bumped on jumping. Over raced during the early stages. Laid out rounding the home turn. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
SUN WORSHIPPER – Bumped on jumping.
PROPOSE – Shifted out on jumping and bumped MAZIS.
METCALFE – Began awkwardly.
MAZIS – Bumped on jumping. Jockey R. Stewart reported his mount had a tendency to lay out throughout the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the colt to have heat stress. Co Trainer A. Neasham reported that it was now their intention to spell the colt with consideration being given to geld MAZIS before returning to the track. Stewards advised that MAZIS would be required to trial satisfactorily prior to resuming.
WOWZINO – Change of tactics – intentions are to lead if circumstances permit. Ridden accordingly.
Race 4: XXXX BENCHMARK 78 Handicap 1830 METRES
LOGAN STREET LION – Over raced during the middle stages and passing the 800m, had to be steadied after improving onto the heels of INDY ROSE WARRIOR.
EXOTIQUE MISS – Over raced during the early stages. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Held up to a point approaching the 100m and after shifting out, raced in restricted room to the finish line.
WAIRERE FALLS – Became awkwardly placed on the heels of INDY ROSE WARRIOR approaching the winning post. Jockey M. Rodd was advised to stop and straighten his mount in similar circumstances.
CLYDE – After jumping away awkwardly, restrained to take up a position closer to the running rail. Passing the 300m was obliged to alter course after becoming awkwardly placed on the heels of WAIRERE FALLS which shifted out marginally.
APPLICATIONS – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
LIONEL – Slow to begin. Held up for clear running on entering the home straight until approaching the 200m.
IVERSON – Laid out rounding the home turn. Held up for clear running on entering the home straight and approaching the 300m, had to be steadied after improving onto the heels of EXOTIQUE MISS, before improving into a narrow run.
DISNEY CASTLE – Raced wide until the 1200m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed mild heat stress.
TWIGMAN – Held up for clear running on entering the home straight until approaching the 100m, before again being held up passing the 50m and was unable to be tested in the run to the finish.
Race 5: DOREEN BIRD BENCHMARK 78 Handicap 1200 METRES
LOST IN TRANSIT – Trainer S. Kendrick was fined $300 pursuant to LR 67(1) for failing to declare a rider within the prescribed time.
YOSHINO – Raced wide throughout.
PERVADE – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have bled both nostrils for the first time. Trainer L. White was advised the gelding would be banned from racing for 3 months and must gallop 1000m in the presence of Stewards pursuant to AR 79(8) prior to resuming.
BLUE SPINEL – When questioned regarding today’s performance, Jockey A. Jones stated that from a wide barrier, rather than being trapped wide she elected to take up a position at the rear end of the field. She stated that in hindsight BLUE SPINEL is better suited racing closer to the speed. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer T. Gollan reported that it was now their intention to send BLUE SPINEL for a short freshen up and would benefit from a drop back in distance.
DIRTY DANCING – Over raced during the middle stages and approaching the 800m, had to be restrained off heels.
HE’S HEAVEN – Slow to begin. Over raced during the early and middle stages.
BOHEMIAN LAD – A post-race veterinary examination revealed moderate heat stress.
After the running of this race, the track was upgraded to a Good 3.
Race 6: MAGIC MILLIONS NUDGEE STAKES 1200 METRES
REVOLUTIONARY MISS – Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.
ABOUNDING – Hampered and carried wider passing the 1000m by COUNTYOURBLESSINGS which shifted out. Raced wide throughout. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.
DANNY’S ST DARCI – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.
KIN – Bumped on jumping.
SHALAA’S MOMENT – Approaching the 100m had to restrain from the heels of ADIELLA which shifted in when only marginally clear. Jockey J. Stanley rider of ADIELLA was reprimanded pursuant to AR 131(a) for this incident. Lost off hind plate.
MIDNIGHT IN TOKYO – Raced wide throughout.
APPIN GIRL – Had to be steadied passing the 1000m after improving onto the heels of SHALAA’S MOMENT which had to be restrained. Momentarily inconvenienced passing the 500m when racing in restricted room. Held up for clear running for the entirety of the home straight and was unable to be tested at any stage.
CIGAR FLICK – Disappointed for a run passing the 50m between BLACK ON BEAUTY and BUBBA’S BAY, both which shifted marginally and as a result, CIGAR FLICK was severely hampered, contacting the hind quarters of BLACK ON BEAUTY.
BLACK ON BEAUTY – Severely hampered passing the 50m after having its hind quarters turned by CIGAR FLICK which was attempting to secure a run to its outside.
MAHBABY – Bumped on jumping.
COUNTYOURBLESSINGS – Made the turn passing the 1000m awkwardly, shifted out having to be checked off the heels of DANNY’S ST DARCI. Continued to shift out, contacting ABOUNDING. Over race for a considerable distance rounding the home turn. Raced wide throughout. When questioned regarding the performance Jockey J. Parr stated after suffering interference near the 1000m, his mount was disappointing from that point onwards and failed to respond to his riding in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
ANAHITA – Shifted out on jumping.
ADIELLA – Laid in under pressure in the home straight and held up for clear running over the concluding stages.
RED DEFCON – Held up for clear running over the concluding stages and was unable to be fully tested to the line.
Race 7: MAGIC MILLIONS VO ROGUE PLATE 1300 METRES
CATOGGIO – Hung out under pressure in the home straight. Jockey V. Duric reported that in his opinion the gelding got its tongue over the bit.
RAIKKONEN – Severely blundered on jumping, almost dislodging its rider. Over raced during the early stages. Raced wide throughout. Carried out by BREAK FREE who was obliged to alter course to avoid heels. When questioned, Jockey C. Schofield stated that the gelding had blundered similarly two starts ago at Canterbury. He added that after losing considerable ground at the start, he elected to pressure his mount to obtain a more forward position, his mount failed to respond and ran to the line in a disappointing manner. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a minor laceration to its right jawline. Trainers’ representative L. Hilton for B. Baker advised that the gelding would be sent for an immediate spell. Stewards advised that RAIKKONEN would require a satisfactory official trial prior to resuming.
HELLA FAST – Carried wider on entering the home straight by STREET CHASE which was carried out by CATOGGIO which shifted out. Jockey V. Duric rider of CATOGGIO was reminded of his obligation to stop and straighten his mount.
GIVE ME SPACE – Change of tactics – to be ridden further back if circumstances permit. Ridden accordingly. Near the 300m was obliged to alter course to avoid heels.
MISTER BIANCO – Inconvenienced on jumping. Raced wide throughout. Near the 300m was obliged to alter course to avoid heels.
BOOMTOWN BOSS – Raced wide throughout.
I’M ZAC – Jockey S. Collett reported her saddle shifted back at a point during the race.
ZOUBABY – Change of tactics – to be ridden with cover if circumstances permit. Ridden accordingly.
BREAK FREE – Raced wide throughout.
Race 8: MAGIC MILLIONS BUFFERING 1400 METRES
ROBUSTO – Raced wide until passing the 1000m.
TAMERLANE– A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have moderate heat stress.
STRAIT ACER – Slow to begin.
CONTEPORARY – Raced wide throughout.
MILLANE – Reared as the start was affected and lost ground.
ZOOLOGY – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout.
THE DROVER – Began awkwardly.
Race 9: MAGIC MILLIONS SHOOT OUT 2100 METRES
ZOUMON – Jockey V. Duric stated he could offer no explanation for today’s disappointing performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Co Trainer A. Bott advised that he report back on the condition of the gelding in the days subsequent. Trainer A. Bott was advised a warning would be placed on the gelding for poor performance.
RED WAVE – Raced wide throughout.
KERCHAK – Raced wide throughout. Apprentice C. Collis reported that his mount raced flat and in his opinion may have come to the end of its preparation. Trainer B. Ahrens advised it was now his intention to send the gelding for a spell.
LITTLE MIX – Raced wide throughout.
BELVEDERE BOYS – Raced in restricted room for a number of strides passing the winning post on the first occasion. Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
QUEEN AIR – Over raced during the early stages.
BEDFORD SQUARE – Slow to begin. Over raced during the middle stages. Near the 800m had to be steadied after improving onto heels.
Race 10: SKY RACING BENCHMARK 90 Handicap 1000 METRES
TECTONIC PLATE – Slow to begin.
BATTLEFIELD – Change of tactics – ridden further back if circumstances permit. Ridden accordingly. Slow to begin. Jockey R. Dolan reported that in his opinion the gelding would benefit from a step up in distance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
SALTAIRE – Slow to begin. Jockey J. Collett reported that his mount failed to let down as expected and proved disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
