GENERAL

Stewards inquired into the reason why jockey A Lawrence was dually engaged in Race 1. After inquiry, Stewards deemed it to be a misunderstanding between the said parties and, due to no other available senior rider, permitted apprentice Z White to ride HAYYLER'S CROSS.

Race 3 - MISS HOFFA was declared a late scratching by stewards at 11.25am after trainer B Trimble advised stewards that the mare had been injured whilst loading onto the float.

Race 4 - DIVA MISS - Stewards will interview trainer W Baker as to the reason why he failed to scratch by the prescribed time.

Race 1: Emerald Photobooths Maiden Plate - 1000m

1st: Bagger Tricks 2nd: Our Boy Hippy 3rd: Miss Bonnie 4th: Tabitha Magic

The start was delayed when BARMER HILL proved difficult to load. Trainer Z Hohn was advised that a warning be placed against the filly for its barrier manners.

HAYYLER'S CROSS - Slow to jump.

MISS BONNIE - Jumped out at the start and bumped BAGGER TRICKS.

BAGGER TRICKS - Bumped by MISS BONNIE on jumping.

TABITHA MAGIC - Slow into stride and had to alter course at the 150m when improved onto the heels of TAFFALINA, which shifted out.

TAFFALINA - Hung in the early stages and had a tendency to lay out at the 150m and inconvenienced TABITHA MAGIC.

BARMER HILL - Made contact with CATCH ME NOT at the 150m.

CATCH ME NOT - Brushed by BARMER HILL at the 150m.


Race 2: Can Do Pest Control Class 6 Plate - 1000m

1st: Natural Dancer 2nd: Bagger Chance 3rd: Gower 4th: Happy Shoppo

THAT'S POPS - Bumped by ELIAZER on jumping away.

ELIAZER - Began awkwardly and shifted in, making contact with THAT'S POPS. Raced three wide without cover throughout the event.

GOWER - Had a tendency to lay out under pressure in the home straight.

Race 3: Elders Financial Planning Benchmark 45 Handicap - 1100m

1st: Close the Beaches 2nd: Caught Switching 3rd: Goodness Gracious 4th: Sottero

PRETTY KOOL KAT - When reluctant to leave the enclosure, was fractious and reared over backwards. Upon arrival at the barriers the mare was vetted and declared a late scratching by stewards on vet's advice at 2.45pm. All monies placed on PRETTY KOOL KAT were to be refunded in full and deductions applied to all bets placed prior to 2.45pm were:

First - 19 cents/win, 16 cents/place;
Second - 16 cents/place;
Third - 16 cents/place.
All SP bets were subject to deductions.

In the circumstances of this incident, Trainer R Green was advised that a warning will be placed against the mare for her pre-race behaviour.

BULLETIN BELLE - Jumped outwards at the start bumping CLOSE THE BEACHES.

CLOSE THE BEACHES - Bumped by BULLETIN BELLE on jumping. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn.

EVA FEROCIA - Raced wide throughout the event.

SOTTERO - Raced wide throughout the event.

MIDNIGHT STALKER - Raced wide throughout the event.

UNCHAIN JAYNE - Slow into stride and raced wide early before being restrained to the rear to take up a position closer to the rail.

GOODNESS GRACIOUS - Held up for clear running between 350m and 200m, and only after altering course sharply to the inside found clear running over the concluding stages.

Race 4: PKF Accountants & Business Advisors Class B Handicap - 1300m

1st: Miss Jamaica 2nd: Idol Factor 3rd: Rocket on Board 4th: Fly Once More

FLY ONCE MORE - As there was no other rider available, stewards permitted rider M Barnham to ride the gelding 0.5kg overweight. At a subsequent inquiry jockey M Barnham was penalised under AR120 (b) and fined $100.

GOLD CLAIM - Hampered on jumping and lost ground between AMADEUS LAD and LI'L BIT GREEDY, which shifted out.

LI'L BIT GREEDY - Began awkwardly and shifted out, making heavy contact with GOLD CLAIM.

IDOL FACTOR - Raced three wide early before improving past the 1000m to take up a position outside the leader.

BARBOUGE - Over-raced in the early stages and had to steady off heels of ENEMY OF MAN at the 1000m when the speed slowed.

BOOMTOWN BOY - On passing the 1000m had to steady off the heels of BARBOUGE.

AMADEUS LAD - Had tendency to hang out rounding the turn at the 900m.


Race 5: DLV Finance Benchmark 55 Handicap - 1615m

1st: Pegunny Kid 2nd: Hay Deet 3rd: Hulk Henry 4th: War Horse

WAR HORSE - Raced wide in the early stages.

TAYSTAR - Raced wide throughout the race.

PEGUNNY KID - Momentarily held up for clear running approaching the home turn.

HULK HENRY - Held up for clear running approaching the home turn.

GRAND HOTEL - After leading early in the event tired after passing the 400m.

READY FOR ROYALTY - Slow to begin. Fell at the 300m and dislodged the rider. The gelding then continued to follow the field and jumped the outside running rail after passing the winning post and made heavy contact with the rail. Trainer M Oates was advised that a veterinary certificate of fitness would be required prior to the gelding racing again.

MISTY MONTANA - Fell at the 300m and dislodged the rider. After the mare was cleared of any serious injury by the vet, trainer K Price advised stewards that it is her intention to send the mare for a brief spell. However, stewards advised trainer K Price that if she intended to continue with the mare's racing campaign, a veterinary certificate would be required prior to racing again.

An inquiry was opened as to the reason why MISTY MONTANA and READY FOR ROYALTY fell at the 300m mark. After taking evidence from jockey A Coome, rider of HULK HENRY, jockey A Butler, rider of PEGUNNY KID, apprentice N VUILLE, rider of GRAND HOTEL, and jockey S Sheargold, rider of READY FOR ROYALTY, stewards adjourned the inquiry to a later date to allow jockey A Lawrence to give evidence, as he was unable to due to being transported to Emerald Base Hospital. Jockey S Sheargold was not taken to hospital and was advised by QAS to seek medical advice from his doctor.
