Andrews Race 1: FERNVALE MAIDEN PLATE – 800m PAT ME PLEASE – Trainer K. Perrin was fined $100 for presenting the gelding without a Norton bit, which is part of the gelding’s approved race gear. NO OPTION – Slow to begin. HALPIN – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Raced wide throughout. LITTLE ALBERT – Began very awkwardly and raced very ungenerously with its head in the air in the early stages. Raced wide throughout. Trainer J. Casey was advised a warning would be placed on the gelding’s racing manners. SESANCHO – Bumped with another runner near the 600m. Steadied from heels near the 200m when PAT ME PLEASE (S. Alam) shifted in when insufficiently clear. S. Alam was reprimanded for this incident. DUGY’S GIRL – Raced greenly in the home straight. Race 2: TOOGOOLAWAH BENCHMARK 60 H’CAP – 800m ISSY COMMAND – Stewards accepted the explanation for the late declaration of Apprentice N. Keal as the rider of the gelding. RAINBOW SPIRIT – Steadied near the 300m when HEZA CHUMLEY laid out despite the efforts of its rider. MR THATCHER – Raced wide throughout. HEZA CHUMLEY – Apprentice G. Willoughby reported at scale the gelding hung out throughout the event. VULCANIC DRAGON – Raced wide throughout. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance, trainer M. Lakey reported that the gelding’s last start win at Beaudesert was in a weaker race, and added that the gelding was disadvantaged by the wide barrier and shorter distance of today’s event. MEGO D’ORO – When questioned regarding the improved performance, trainer S. Ryan advised that the gelding, which was having its first start following a spell, was suited by dropping back in class and distance in today’s event. BUCCIERI – When questioned regarding the disappointing performance, jockey G. Geran advised that the gelding, which was having its second race start, was not suited by the step in class and would be better suited to races over a longer distance than today’s event. Race 3: THE STONEHOUSE BENCHMARK 50 H'CAP – 1200m PERFECT RAINBOW – Refused to jump and took no part in the event. Trainer B. Snelling was advised the mare would have to obtain a further barrier certificate before racing again. PROSPECTING – Reared as the start was effected and lost considerable ground. ENVIRONMENTAL – Steadied from heels near the 700m. MR SEDUCTION – Bumped another runner at the start. Jockey L. Appo reported at scale his shifted, preventing him from riding his mount out with his usual vigour. DECILLION – Bumped another runner at the start. GREAT PATIENCE – Raced wide throughout. Steadied when tightened for room near the 100m. Race 4: ESK QTIS 3YO MAIDEN H’CAP – 1460m ROCK THE BOAT – Steadied from heels when the pace slackened near the 1200m. DANCING DERINA – Overraced when being steadied from the heels of PRIMUS INVICTUS (L. Appo) near the 1200m. Jockey Appo was reminded of his obligations to be two lengths clear when shifting ground. Jockey B. Derbyshire reported at scale that the filly was inclined to hang out throughout the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. TANIWHA – Raced wide throughout. PRIMUS INVICTUS – Bumped with another runner shortly after the start. LET IT SLIDE – Bumped with another runner shortly after the start. BLOOMERANG – Slow to begin. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. MOOLAMOON – Raced wide thoughout. Apprentice A. van der Sanden reported at scale the mare was inclined to hang out throughout the event. Race 5: CLUB HOTEL SPORTING & SOCIAL CLUB BENCHMARK 55 H’CAP – 1750m HIGHTOWER – Began awkwardly. Checked near the 300m when JUPITER PALM (G. Geran) shifted in when insufficiently clear. Jockey Geran was severely reprimanded for this incident. SNEAKY PETERSON – Jockey M. Abe was reprimanded for using the whip six times prior to the 100m. GETTING’JIGGYWITHIT – Slow to begin.
