Race 1: Jayco Townsville BENCHMARK 45 HANDICAP 800 metres:1st – CAPT’N THUNDERBIRD 2nd – TELEPHOTO 3rd – PRIMED FOR ACTION 4th – MITCHY’S INSTINCT MONDUKE - Blundered when the gates opened. Approaching the 600 metres TELEPHOTO (App E Cass) shifted in when crossing, tightening the running of MITCHY’S INSTINCT (D Simmons) and PRIMED FOR ACTION (Ms K Aho) which both lost ground. Apprentice E Cass was severely reprimanded for allowing her mount to shift in when not clear (AR137a). Race 2: George & Lorraine Colbran QTIS BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 1200 metres:1st – ROYAL COUPE 2nd – MOLONGLE CHIEF 3rd – DON’T TELL PETE 4th – CIDARIS ALL ROSIE - Slow to begin. GESTICULATION - Raced wide throughout. SERGENT SHRIVER - On returning to scale Jockey Ms B. Thomson reported that the gelding may have pulled up lame. The gelding was inspected by the Club Veterinary Surgeon post race and no abnormalities were found. Race 3: Purcell Brothers PTY LTD Ewan Ladies Bracelet OPEN HANDICAP 1300 metres:1st – MISHANI GLADIATOR2nd – AUGUSTE 3rd – MISHANI STEALTH 4th – CRAIGLEA FOCUS No Racing Incidents. Jockey Ms B Thomson was reprimanded for her conduct and comments made towards Jockey Ms K Aho in the scales area after weigh in. (AR 175 Q). Race 4: Sir Rupert Clarke Memorial MAIDEN PLATE 1300 metres: 1st – MOLONGLE JOY 2nd – TRY BEFORE DUBAI 3rd – DIAMONDNET 4th – RENEGADE RUBY BONNE SANTE - Slow into stride. DIAMONDNET - Blundered when the gates opened. TRY BEFORE DUBAI - Approaching the 1100 metres commenced to race greenly. Race 5: Landmark Ewan Cup BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP 1600 metres:1st – CORONATION JOURNEY 2nd – STANDFORD 3rd – SIX BEAT 4th – SUNBURY CORONATION JOURNEY - Cast a hind plate just prior to entering the enclosure to parade and connections were granted permission to remove the other hind plate and race bare in the hind. At the 1550 metres SKELETONS (Jockey D Simmons) commenced to buck resulting in Jockey Simmons removing his feet from the stirrup irons in an effort to maintain balance. SKELETONS continued to buck for a considerable distance until it dislodged Jockey Simmons heavily at the 1250 metres. Jockey Simmons was immediately attended to by Ambulance Officers and was transported to the Charters Towers Hospital for further observations. Trainer J Manzelmann was advised that the gelding must perform a satisfactory barrier trial prior to being permitted to race again.
