RACE 1: RAY BACHMANN REAL ESTATE LAIDLEY QTIS 3YO MAIDEN H'CAP – 1100M

MOVING PRESS – On returning to scale R. Fradd reported that his mount had a tendency to lay out on the turns, which he attributed to the horse racing greenly at its first start.

LAYLA’S LAD – Bumped at the start. Raced three wide throughout.

SHEER PERSISTENCE – Began awkwardly. Raced three wide without cover throughout.

IMPERIAL BELLE – Raced ungenerously and threw its head in the air for a considerable distance in the middle stages when racing close to heels.

BARBARA OF SEVILLE – Tightened for room at the start.

RACE 2: LOCKYER VALLEY REGIONAL COUNCIL RACEDAY JULY 30 QTIS 3YO MAIDEN H'CAP – 1100M

Subject to further submissions, a $100 fine will be imposed for trainer W. Bannerot’s late declaration of S. Bogenhuber as the rider of MOLLY MIYAKO.

The start of this race was delayed when M. Gray was dislodged from RAINBOW SPIRIT during the preliminary. The horse was recaptured, examined by the veterinary surgeon and passed fit to start.

The start was further delayed when CARRANGALL proved difficult to load. Trainer N. Hilton was advised that a warning would be placed on the horse’s barrier manners.

LIVE FAST – Forced wider on the track by another runner near the 1000m.

CARRANGALL – Slow into stride. Commenced to race ungenerously for a number of strides near the 1000m and shifted out abruptly. Trainer N. Hilton was advised that a warning would be placed on the horse’s racing manners.

OPTIMISTIC HEART – Jumped in the air at the start and as a result lost ground.

YOU SAY NO WAY – Bumped with another runner at the start. Forced to steady to avoid heels near the 1000m. Forced to stead to avoid the heels of another runner when momentarily placed in restricted room. Momentarily steadied when placed in restricted room near the 500m.

ACADINI – Forced wider on the track by another runner near the 1000m. Raced wide throughout.

DAME DEMMI – Forced wider on the track by another runner near the 1000m.

On pulling up, RAINBOW SPIRIT attempted to jump the crossing approximately 200 metres after the winning post and as a result, dislodged M. Gray. As stewards were satisfied that the horse carried its allotted weight, acting under the provisions of AR. 142, stewards declared correct weight without M. Gray weighing in. M. Gray was subsequently transported to Gatton Base Hospital. Due to a replacement ambulance not arriving on course in time for the start of Race 3, that race was rescheduled to be run at 12.52 pm, and Race 4 at 1.24 pm.

RACE 3: WESTERN TRADERS MAIDEN PLATE – 1400M

The declaration of correct weight was delayed when stewards viewed the patrol footage to determine whether STORMY DEEDS had been afforded a fair start. After viewing the videos, it was established that the barrier gate of that runner was slow to open, denying the horse the opportunity to jump with the rest of the field. Stewards therefore declared STORMY DEEDS a non-runner and ordered that all monies invested on the horse be refunded, with the following deductions to apply to successful wagers:

5 cents in the dollar for the Win #16
7 cents in the dollar for place of winner #16
3 cents in the dollar for 2nd place #8
7 cents in the dollar for 3rd place #2

MISTER BURGESS – Raced wide throughout.

ONEMORE TWIST – Slow to begin.

MS SARANDON – Forced to steady from the heels of another runner near the 1000m. Steadied when placed in restricted room at the 500m.

WIDOWMAKER – Clipped heels, blundered and lost ground near the 100m. N. Nishio, the rider of ONEMORE TWIST, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR. 137(a) in that near the 100m he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of WIDOMAKER. N. Nishio’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 15 days, to commence at midnight on Sunday, 12 June, and expire at midnight on Monday, 27 June 2016. In determining penalty, stewards deemed the degree of careless and interference suffered to be in the high range.

LILY GISELLE – Raced wide throughout.

CHATARA – Made the turn near the 1100m awkwardly. Raced wide throughout.

THIN DISGUISE – Stewards questioned trainer B. Currie in relation to the horse’s improved performance. Mr Currie advised that at its last start the horse was having its first start for the stable and on that occasion, based on the horse’s work, he expected a forward showing. He added that on that occasion he could offer no explanation for the disappointing performance of the gelding. Mr Currie further stated that the horse continued to work well in preparation for today’s event and again he expected a forward showing, particularly given the horse was stepping up to a distance which he felt was more to the horse’s advantage. Stewards noted the explanation.

SUSHI OLE – Began awkwardly.

MAXPORT – Bumped by another runner approaching the 500m.
