RACE 1: MAIDEN PLATE 860 Metres



SESANCHO – slow to begin. On jumping away, the left leg of app G Willoughby made heavy contact with the outside barrier partition placing her at a disadvantage for the remainder of the race. QAS paramedics subsequently cleared app Willoughby to fulfil her remaining engagements.



HILL DAGONDA – raced wide for the majority.



DANISH DRAMA – start was delayed when proved difficult to loadand a warning was placed on the filly’s barrier manners. Slow to begin. Shifted wider rounding the hometurn. On pulling up, shied at the 1500 metre crossing resulting in app N Keal being dislodged. N Keal was subsequently examined by QAS paramedics and cleared to fulfil his remaining engagements.



OUR HAWKINS – as G Geran was to be overweight, he was replaced by I Coombes. G Geran was fined $100.







RACE 2: MAIDEN PLATE 1400 Metres





WENSLEY ROAD – rider reported at scale he had advised the trainer R Drysdale that in his opinion, the gelding appeared to resent the tongue tie, which it was wearing for the first time today.



HIGHTOWER – had a tendency to lay in under pressure in the home straight.



KINGSTON CAUSEWAY – raced wide throughout.



ROOSTER HUNTER – held up for a clear run between the 500 metres and 200 metres behind the tiring TONI’S LUCK.



ROSE RAKU – raced awkwardly on heels rounding the 1100 metre turn.





RACE 3: BENCHMARK 55 HDCP 1600 Metres



Immediately following the event, the judge informed stewards that the photo finish camera had malfunctioned and no photo finish image was available. Stewards and the judge then viewed the video replay to determine placings for this event. Subsequently the judge advised stewards that the photo finish would be inoperable for the remainder of the meeting, therefore the remaining events were judged on video replay.



ALBERT’S CHOICE – App M Shimodaira pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR137(a) in that passing the winning post he permitted his mount to shift in resulting in DINA’S DRAGON being tightened for room and having to check. The licence of App Shimodaira was suspended for a period of eight days to commence midnight 30 July 2016 up to and including midnight 7 August 2016.

COOL AS HELL – declared a late scratching at 1:05pm when a stewards inspection found the gelding had been not been plated to the required standard as specified under AR141B. Trainer B Robinson was subsequently fined $200.

CORDON ROUGE – presented to the enclosure in blinkers when not part of its approved gear. Trainer B Currie advised stewards he was of the belief he had made application on Tuesday 26/7/16 to race in blinkers and acting on this undertaking, stewards permitted CORDON ROUGE to race in blinkers. Following the event stewards obtained confirmation no application to carry blinkers had been made and B Currie was subsequently fined the sum of $400. In determining penalty, stewards took into B Currie’s recent poor record under this rule.

FAMECHON BARONESS – had to be steadied off heels rounding the 1100 metre turn.

MAXPORT – raced wide in the early and middle stages.



RACE 4: BENCHMARK 45 HDCP1100 Metres

HEY MURRI – slow to begin.



WORLD SERIES – began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout.



COCKTAIL THONG – shifted out under pressure near the 100 metres resulting in crowding to runners to the outside. App M Murphy was advised to exercise greater care.



COVER UP – raced tightly between runners near the 100 metres and had to be steadied.









RACE 5: CLASS 3 PLATE 1100 Metres



BLETCHY BOY – on return to scale, app M Murphy weighed in 0.5kg under his allocated riding weight of 57.5 kgs, however acting under the provisions of AR143(a), app Murphy was deemed to have carried the allocated weight. At a subsequent enquiry, M Murphy was fined the sum of $200. Raced wide throughout. App M Murphy was reprimanded for permitting his mount to shift in near the 1000 metres resulting in NAME AND SHAME and STATELENA being tightened for room.



SUPERIOR DRAGON – began awkwardly.



ALL OUR WIVES – at scale app J Hodge reported the mare had a tendency to hang out at various stages of the event and that near the 600 metres he dropped his near side rein for a short distance.



STATELENA – raced wide throughout. Near the 100 metres accidentally struck by the whip of S Drake, rider of NAME AND SHAME.
