ABOVE THE SKY – Placed in restricted room and steadied when SIZZALATING shifted in marginally near the 700m.

DARK ARCHER – Bumped between runners shortly after the start. When questioned by Stewards in relation to the seemingly improved performance, trainer Mr. S. Kendrick advised that at its previous start at Ipswich over 1350m the gelding had to be ridden aggressively to obtain a forward position, and he felt that it was only over the latter stages of that race that the horse’s condition ran out. He added that in preparation for today’s race, the gelding had worked strongly in blinkers and he felt that it had travelled better today based on its recent trackwork.

REAL SWEET – After being slow to begin from the wide barrier, the filly took up a position at the rear of the field. Shifted wider on the track leaving the 800m, and then raced wide for the remainder. A post-race veterinary examination of the filly, which performed below market expectation, revealed no apparent abnormalities.

Following the running of this race, the track was upgraded from a Good 4 to a Good 3.
