KENTAUR – Slow to begin. Raced wide in the early stages. A post race veterinary examination of the gelding revealed no significant abnormalities.

CAILLEBOTTE – When questioned as to the tactics adopted jockey M. McGuren stated that his instructions were to obtain a position with cover just off the speed. Jockey McGuren added that after beginning on terms with the runners drawn inside of him he was reluctant to press forward as he was concerned he would be forced to race outside the leader without cover, therefore he elected to restrain in an effort to shift in and improve to the inside of ESKIMO KING, which would have resulted in him settling in a position one out and one back. However, when he attempted to restrain the gelding it commenced to overrace and proved difficult to restrain which allowed ESKIMO KING to shift in and obtain his intended position. As a consequence he was forced to settle further back than anticipated. Stewards noted his explanation.

ROYAL SCRIBE – When questioned as to the disappointing performance jockey S. Galloway stated that the gelding raced strongly in the early and middle stages however, when asked to improve leaving the 500m failed to respond and proved disappointing. Trainer D. Race 6: Crave Food & Wine Trackside Class 4 H’Cap – 1100m
1st – Pantheress 2nd – American Spirit 3rd – Little Miss Molly 4th – Denman Flyer

The announcement of correct weight was delayed whilst App J. Oliver the rider of 2nd placegetter AMERICAN SPIRIT viewed the film to ascertain if he had grounds to lodge an objection against the winner PANTHERESS (M. McGuren). After viewing the official footage App Oliver advised he did not wish to proceed. Stewards were also satisfied that whilst PANTHERESS had shifted out under pressure over the final 200m AMERICAN SPIRIT was also inclined to shift out and away from PANTHERESS of its own accord and therefore did not believe that there was any interference contributed by PANTHERESS which had a material affect on the placings and as such declared correct weight on the numbers semaphored.
