SUPPLEMENTARY

From Gold Coast Meeting Saturday 11 June 2016 – Race 8

Trainer R. Heathcote reported that AIR FORCE ONE had pulled up lame in the off fore leg following the event. A veterinary clearance will be required prior to its next start.

GENERAL

App S. Fawke failed to provide a medical clearance upon arriving on course today after he was stood down at Mackay on Thursday 16 June 2016. As no Club doctor was on course App Fawke was replaced by D. Griffin as the rider of DIVINE DICE in Race 2. Following Race 2 App Fawke was able to arrange for his medical clearance to be forwarded to stewards and was subsequently allowed to fulfil his remaining engagements. App Fawke was reprimanded.

All races for the last 600m were hand-timed.

Race 1: Gold Coast Community Fund QTIS 2YO Maiden Plate – 900m
1st – I Remember You 2nd – Isla Tristana 3rd – I’ve Gotta Nel 4th – Bush Bella

As J. Morris was indisposed due to transportation difficulties stewards permitted App C. Dell to be substituted as the rider of FAIRY DANCER.

TACTICAL MANUEVER – Began awkwardly and was hampered by SHREWVELON shortly afterwards.

KEEN TIARA – Began awkwardly. Hung out rounding the home turn.

ISLA TRISTANA – Approaching the 800m had to be momentarily steadied when awkwardly placed at the heels of I REMEMBER YOU. Raced wide throughout.

FAIRY DANCER – Raced wide throughout. Taken wider on the track by KEEN TIARA rounding the home turn.

BOLD TRAVELLER – Raced very greenly in the home straight.

I REMEMBER YOU – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.

I’VE GOTTA NEL – Raced 4 wide without cover throughout.

Race 2: Happy 21st Henry & Lilly Garrett QTIS 2YO Maiden Plate – 900m
1st – Divine Dice 2nd – Nellie’s Delight 3rd – Fallen For You 4th – Trampers

TRAMPERS – Began awkwardly. Trainer A. Williamson advised that the filly was suffering from the thumps post race.

BRENDABELLE – Began awkwardly and shortly afterwards lost ground after being tightened for room between HOOKED A BEAUTY and KIRIN’S LAD.

KIRIN’S LAD – Passing the 800m shifted out and bumped HOOKED A BEAUTY. Raced greenly throughout and in doing so hung out rounding the home turn.

HOOKED A BEAUTY – Bumped near the 800m. Raced wide throughout.

EXCRUCIATE – Raced wide without cover throughout and laid out approaching and rounding the home turn. Then inclined to lay in throughout the home straight and as a consequence approaching the 200m had to be steadied from the heels of AUSSIE TYCOON.

AUSSIE TYCOON – Bumped by FALLEN FOR YOU passing the 200m.

DIVINE DICE – Laid in under pressure leaving the 100m.

Race 3: Tutt Bryant Equipment Maiden H’Cap 1400m
1st – Kapstar 2nd – Emvepee 3rd – American Diva 4th – Miss Sonador

Trainer S. O’Dea was fined $100.00 for the late declaration of B. Looker as the rider of MISS SONADOR.
The start of the race was delayed when GOWAN BRAE cast an off fore plate and had to be replated.

HIGHWAY QUEEN – Slow to begin. Bumped leaving the 1100m. Rounding the home turn was hampered by LUJAC, which was hanging out. Raced wide throughout.

MIGHTY IRISH – Began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped IDEAL WALTZ. Approaching the 1000m improved onto the heels of ZHUKOVA, shifted out and bumped JAZZ ADELE. Near the 300m had to be steadied from the heels of GOWAN BRAE.

IDEAL WALTZ – Bumped on jumping away.

QUEEN GEE – Had to be steadied near the 1200m from the heels of IDEAL WALTZ, which shifted in. App Fawke (IDEAL WALTZ) was advised exercise more care. Approaching the 700m improved onto the heels of HIGHWAY QUEEN and had to be steadied.

AMERICAN DIVA – Leaving the 1100m commenced to overrace and had to be steadied from the heels of GOWAN BRAE and in doing so shifted out and bumped HIGHWAY QUEEN.

LUJAC – Approaching the 1000m had to be steadied from the heels of JAZZ ADELE, which shifted in. Jockey A. Allen (JAZZ ADELE) was reprimanded. Then commenced to race ungenerously and a short distance later had to be checked when awkwardly placed at the heels of JAZZ ADELE and then continued to race ungenerously for some distance thereafter. Continued to hang in in the home straight and as a result App Murphy was unable to ride the gelding out with his usual vigour. Hung out rounding the home turn. Raced wide throughout. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. A warning was placed on the gelding’s racing manners.

BRONTE BABE – Passing the 1000m had to be steadied from the heels of JAZZ ADELE, which had been taken out by another runner. In the early stages raced 4 wide without cover before obtaining a 3 wide position with cover leaving the 800m.

KAPSTAR – Hung out rounding the home turn.

JAZZ ADELE – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.

Race 4: Brisbane Isuzu Class 3 Plate – 1800m
1st –Snapper Rocks 2nd – Super Force 3rd – Explosive One 4th – Bobby Be Good

TUMBLING AL – Slow to begin.

MANDRYKA – Blundered going over the crossing near the 1500m.

SUPER FORCE – Approaching the 600m had to be steadied from the heels of KENTAUR, which was weakening.

KENTAUR – When questioned as to the tactics adopted jockey J. Watkins stated that he was specifically instructed to settle outside the leader as the gelding has shown a tendency to overrace when ridden with cover previously. Jockey Watkins added that after being slow to begin he was obliged to ride the gelding along so as to comply with these instructions however, was under pressure passing the 800m and then compounded. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Stewards will follow up with trainer Ms W. Bannerot as to the gelding’s recovery post race and the stable’s intentions going forward. Approaching the 500m steadied when placed in restricted room between SUPER FORCE and SNAPPER ROCKS.


Race 5: Lea Insurance Brokers Fillies & Mares Class 1 H’Cap – 1100m
1st – Flirtatious Femme 2nd – Liesl Lass 3rd – Knightwick Manor 4th – Bellevue Avenue

FLIRTATIOUS FEMME – Fractious in the barriers.

JAZZY RULER – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout.

WALTZ IN FLIGHT – Began awkwardly.

FOXY WALK – Approaching the 700m was bumped by CHOPHOUSE TEARS and became unbalanced.

CHOPHOUSE TEARS – Approaching the 700m was bumped by FOXY WALK. Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.

KYOTO ROSE – Raced wide in the early stages.

Jockey J. Morris (LIESL LASS) was found guilty of a charge under the provisions of AR137A(5)(a)(ii) for using his whip on more than the permitted number of occasions prior to the 100m. Bearing in mind jockey Morris’ poor record under this Rule he was suspended for a period of seven (7) days to commence midnight 19 June 2016 and expire midnight 26 June 2016.

MAGNUS COR – Stewards questioned jockey M. McGuren as to the tactics adopted after the filly began well and was then restrained to settle towards the rear of the field. Jockey McGuren stated that from the awkward barrier he had been instructed to attempt to obtain cover back in the field as the filly had previously performed best when ridden in this manner. Jockey McGuren added that after making contact with BELLEVUE AVENUE near the 1000m the filly commenced to race keenly and he was obliged to restrain so as to obtain cover, which resulted in him settling further back in the field than he had anticipated. Jockey McGuren further added that he was then forced to race wide rounding the home turn and in the home straight where in his opinion the going was inferior however, the filly was doing its best work over the final 100m and may be better suited by a step up in distance. Trainer S. O’dea confirmed the instructions and indicated that similar instructions would be issued at the filly’s next start.


Race 6: Earthfleet Colts, Geldings & Entires Class 1 H’Cap – 1100m
1st – My Firecracker 2nd – Red Reason 3rd – Rob Roy 4th – The Monk

The start was delayed when KARAKABEEL shifted an off front plate requiring farrier attention.

THE MONK – Hampered on jumping away when tightened for room.

DRILL – Inconvenienced shortly after the start.

SAIPAN – Stewards permitted the gelding to race in race plate instead of the previously advertised hoof pads due to the soft track conditions. Public announcements were made to this effect. Raced wide early before being restrained to obtain cover behind DRILL passing the 800m.

DRILL – Near the 700m had to be steadied from the heels of KARAKABEEL. Inconvenienced near the 300m when awkwardly placed at the heels of THE MONK.

THE MONK – Hung out under pressure in the home straight.

KARAKABEEL – Near the 100m had to be checked from the heels of ROB ROY.

Jockey S. Galloway the rider of ROB ROY was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR137(a) in that passing the 50m he permitted his mount to shift out when insufficiently clear of KARAKABEEL, resulting in jockey Morris having to check KARAKABEEL to avoid the heels of ROB ROY. Jockey Galloway’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of ten (10) days to commence midnight 18 June 2016 and to expire midnight 28 June 2016.

GIVE ‘EM CURRY – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.

FAST FELLA – When questioned as to the performance jockey Matthew Palmer stated that the gelding was slow to muster speed in the early and middle stages despite his efforts. Jockey Palmer added that the gelding was doing its best work over the concluding stages and would appreciate a step up in distance.

RED REASON – Cast a near hind plate in running.


Race 7: QGR Accountants QTIS 3YO BenchMark 75 H’Cap – 1200m
1st – Arthur Le Roi 2nd – Ima Showman 3rd – Rosie Posie 4th – Maybe Even You

GORADA – Slow to begin.

IMA SHOWMAN – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout.

MAYBE EVEN YOU – Bumped near the 900m

ARTHUR LE ROI – Threw its head in the air near the 800m when being restrained.

ROCK DE FRANCE – Obliged to alter course to avoid the heels of BAM’S PRINCESS leaving the 100m.

BAM’S PRINCESS – Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.

DUTCH TREAT – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout. Bumped near the 900m.


Race 8: Sci-Fleet Hino BenchMark 75 H’Cap – 1300m
1st – Umgeni 2nd – Doughty 3rd – Redwolf 4th – Voodoo Blue Magic

The start of this race was delayed when DOUGHTY proved difficult to load.

MENACING – Reared as the start was effected.

REDWOLF – Began awkwardly. Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.

ROYAL SCRIBE – Hampered at the start when tightened for room between UMGENI and ELLA MAGIC, which shifted out.

ELLA MAGIC – Began awkwardly.

RIGHT TO ROAM – Slow to begin.

MARKSFIELD – Began awkwardly. Near the 1000m made heavy contact with the running rail after being tightened for room by ROYAL SCRIBE, which was racing fiercely.

ANTON EN AVANT – Hampered by ELLA MAGIC shortly after the start.

ROYAL SCRIBE – Leaving the 1100m commenced to race fiercely and in doing so shifted in and had to be steadied from the heels of ELLA MAGIC near the 1000m.

UMGENI – Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.

RAFFINATO – When questioned regarding the tactics adopted in the early stages and the overall performance App A. Denby stated she was instructed to try and obtain a handy position. App Denby added that in the early stages she considered pressing forward to cross UMGENI but was concerned she would have to make too much use of the horse so elected to restrain in an attempt to obtain cover behind UMGENI. However, ROYAL SCRIBE commenced to overrace and improved to her inside resulting in her being positioned 3 wide for the majority of the event. App Denby further added that passing the 800m the mare was not responding to her riding and failed to travel comfortably at any stage of the event and proved disappointing. App Denby was of the opinion that the mare was not comfortable on today’s track conditions. A post race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be displaying a cough and a nasal discharge. Trainer T. Edmonds will be interviewed at a later date. A swab sample was taken.




Race 9: Coastal Tipper Hire Class 2 H’Cap – 1400m
1st – Intrepic 2nd – Je Suis Prest 3rd – Military Lady 4th – Rare Air

Trainer B. Hull was fined $100.00 for the late declaration of App J. Woodhouse as the rider of CUSHY NUMBER.

GUNSMOKE – Slow to begin. Bled from both nostrils during the event and as this was the 2nd occasion the gelding will now incur a lifetime ban from racing .

MYSTICISM – Slow to begin. Hampered when tightened for room shortly after the start. Steadied from heels near the 900m.

LEGAL COUNSEL – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout.

INTREPIC – Inconvenienced at the start by LEGAL COUNSEL, which shifted in.

RARE AIR – Bumped shortly after the start.

CLASSIC ELEMENT – Bumped shortly after the start.

CUSHY NUMBER – Hung out rounding the home turn and continued to do so in the home straight. Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.

N. Day (MILITARY LADY) pleaded guilty to a charge under the provisions of AR137A(5)(a)(ii) for using his whip on more than the permitted number of occasions prior to the 100m. Bearing in mind jockey Day’s poor record under this Rule he was suspended for a period of seven (7) days to commence midnight 28 June 2016 and expire midnight 25 June 2016.
