When questioned as to the performance, Jockey S Galloway stated that the filly, after being fractious in the barriers and beginning awkwardly, never travelled comfortably and was disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any apparent abnormalities other than a superficial laceration to the off hind fetlock. A swab sample was taken.NELLIE’S DELIGHT - Hampered on jumping away. App. B Ainsworth was fined the sum of $500 for failing to ride her mount out to the end of the race.GOOD GRACIOUS MAE - Began awkwardly.ALL OVER BOSANOVA - Initially slow to begin and then hampered a short distance thereafter. Leaving the 600m steadied from the heels of BLUE CHIPPED.ARNHEM BEAUTY - Raced greenly during the early stages.AVA NATALIA - Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.CLEVER BLAZE - Raced wide throughout. Passing the 500m bumped by REDEMUS.DANYSUS - Held up on the heels of REDEMUS leaving the 300m and was again held up over the final 150m.BOXER - Near the 100m shifted out abruptly of its own accord.Race 3: Mercedes-Benz Gold Coast QTIS 2yo Class 3 Plate – 1400m1st – Elusive Affair 2nd – Sidero Star 3rd – Wicked Queen 4th – CollywobbleSIDERO STAR - Slow to begin.HALFETI - Blundered on jumping away.STRYKING STUNNAH – Near the 400m improved onto the heels of GENERAL COS which had commenced to weaken and clipped the heels of that runner and blundered. When questioned as to the tactics adopted, App. C Jokic advised that she was instructed to lead if the tempo was slow otherwise, to settle in a handy position with cover. App. Jokic stated that she was concerned that she would have to apply too much pressure in the early stages in an effort to lead and therefore elected to steady and obtain cover behind RALLIER. Stewards advised App. Jokic that in their opinion she had erred in not making more of an effort to obtain a forward position upon jumping away, however, did not believe her actions were culpable under the rules of racing. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any apparent abnormalities at the time of examination. GENERAL COS – App. S Fawke reported that it was not his intention to race outside the lead, however, when caught wide early, he elected to press forward to obtain a position closer to the fence. App. S Fawke suffered a seemingly harmless fall after the event as the gelding was being eased down. App. Fawke was subsequently cleared to fulfil his remaining engagements.Race 4: Aquis Farm BenchMark 75 H’cap – 1300m1st – Rainbow Magic 2nd – Abu Ben Adam 3rd – Dousaichi 4th – Planet AmericaPUTAPAVONIT - Slow to begin.ABU BEN ADAM - Laid in under pressure in the home straight. PLANET AMERICA – When questioned regarding the performance, App. B Ainsworth stated that in her opinion the gelding was better suited over further distances and as a consequence was obliged to race further back than anticipated today. App. Ainsworth conceded that had she remained on the back of RAINBOW MAGIC rounding the home turn instead of shifting wider on the track the gelding may have finished closer. Bearing in mind the instructions which were confirmed by Trainer B Guy to shift out upon straightening, stewards did not believe that App. Ainsworth’s error was culpable under the rules of racing. App. B Ainsworth (PLANET AMERICA) was fined $100 for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m. After the running of Race 4, the track was downgraded to a SOFT 5.Race 5: Sky Racing Maiden H’cap – 1400m1st – Creationist 2nd – My Cousin Melanie 3rd – Gorada 4th – Sheer PersistenceDue to transportation difficulties Jockey M Paget was unable to fulfil his riding engagement on DREAM STEPPER and was replaced by App. S Fawke.LIGHTNING ROCK – Connections advised that the gelding will attempt to lead should circumstances permit - settled outside the leader.GORADA - Slow to begin. Raced 3 wide without cover for the majority of event.LITTLE MISTER - Raced wide throughout.ROTHA’S ROSE - Near 900m became awkward when racing in restricted room.CREATIONIST - Leaving the 200m obliged to shift out across the heels of two other runners to secure clear running.OUTBACK BUCK - Steadied from the heels of SHEER PERSISTENCE over the concluding stages.App. B Ainsworth (OUTBACK BUCK) was fined $200 for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m. Race 6: Optima Wealth Solutions BM 70 H’cap – 2200m1st – Viv’s Vegas 2nd – Godwood 3rd – Tampere 4th – Barge and ChargeBACK TO ABILENE - Upon application from Trainer R Lyford, Stewards permitted a late gear change being concussion plates off and race plates on.The start was delayed when Jockey Drake (GODWOOD) was obliged to re-weigh after the horse had entered the saddling enclosure at which point it was identified that the tree in her saddle had snapped. ITALIAN QUEEN - Connections advised that the mare would be ridden further back in the field today – Unable to be restrained despite the efforts of its rider in the early stages and as a consequence led. Over-raced during the early and middle stages. BARGE AND CHARGE - Began awkwardly. Upon returning to scale, Jockey Griffin reported that the gelding over-raced for the majority of the event and as a consequence had to be steadied from heels on a number occasions in the early stages before shifting out near the 1000m from which point it raced 3 wide.GODWOOD - Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout. Near the 900m steadied when tightened for room between MR SCARY and SUPER FORCE (H Poland) which shifted in. Jockey H Poland was reprimanded.LEGSMAN - Began awkwardly. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding had ruptured its near fore tendon and would now be retired. Should the gelding race again a veterinary clearance will be required.VIV’S VEGAS – Hampered soon after the start. MR SCARY - Over-raced during the early and middle stages.SUPER FORCE - Unable to secure cover behind LEGSMAN as a result of BARGE AND CHARGE over-racing and was obliged to race wide without cover for the majority of event. Passing 500m obliged to race in restricted room.TAMPERE - Upon straightening had difficulty securing clear running.Jockey S Drake (GODWOOD) was fined $400 for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m. Race 7: Burleigh Bears Class 1 H’cap – 1200m1st – Flambe 2nd – The Monk 3rd – Drill 4th – Navajo PrinceThe start was effected manually.THE MONK - Began awkwardly.RED REASON - Began awkwardly. When questioned as to the disappointing performance, Jockey S Galloway stated that the gelding was under pressure leaving the 500m and proved disappointing. Jockey Galloway added that the gelding was displaying an abnormal respiratory sound following the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be displaying a cough. Trainer D Kelly advised that the gelding would now be sent for a spell. Mr Kelly was advised to furnish the results of an endoscopic examination to stewards. In the absence of any abnormality the gelding will be required to trial prior to its next race start. A swab sample was taken.FLAMBE – Laid out rounding the home turn.ACADEMY HILL - Leaving the 400m became awkward when racing in restricted room to the inside of RED REASON.Race 8: Club Helensvale Ratings Band 0-65 H’cap – 1400m 1st – Mystical Renegade 2nd – Our Clarky 3rd – Dead heat: Montrer Dame & Had me at HelloJockey R McMahon was replaced by Jockey M Paget on ALBERT’S CHOICE when unable to fulfil his engagement due to being overweight. Subject to any further submissions, Jockey McMahon will be fined the sum of $200. VICTORVETO - Upon application from Trainer R Lyford, Stewards permitted Stewards permitted a late gear change being concussion plates off and race plates and bandages on.MONTRER DAME - Slow to begin.SECET TRYST - Began awkwardly. Disappointed for a run passing the 100m and held up for the remainder of the race.ALBERT’S CHOICE – Over-raced during the early stages.EPIC CHOICE - Raced wide throughout.MY FIRECRACKER - When over-racing passing the 900m, clipped the heels of MYSTICAL RENEGADE and shifted out and was forced to race 3 wide without cover from that point onwards. Jockey L Rolls reported that the gelding had shown a tendency to over-race at its previous starts over a similar distance and in his opinion is better suited over shorter distances.FRISCO JOE - Held up rounding the home turn and during the early stages of the home straight and again passing the 100m.App. G Willoughby (OUR CLARKY) pleaded guilty to a charge under AR137A(5)(a)(ii) for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m. Bearing in mind her poor record, App. Willoughby was suspended for a period of 7 days to commence midnight 16/07/2016 and expire midnight 23/07/2016.
