Race 1: SKY RACING QTIS 2YO Maiden H’Cap – 1200m
1st – Beloso 2nd – Final Zero 3rd – Collar’s Up 4th – Tay Swift

The start was delayed due to a number of runners being difficult to load.

MOSSIRATE – After being boxed the gelding reared dislodging jockey A. Allen. The gelding was removed, examined by the veterinary surgeon and passed fit to start. The gelding trailed the field throughout the race. Trainer J. Thompson was advised that the gelding must compete in an official barrier trial prior to racing again for what stewards deemed to be an unsatisfactory performance.

SON OF JUSTICE – Trainer K. Sempf advised the gelding would be ridden more forward today if circumstances permit. The gelding was slow into stride and raced at the rear of the field.

BELOSO – Slow to begin.

CLANG AGAIN – Overraced in the early stages.

TAY SWIFT – Taken wider on the first turn. Bumped heavily near the 700m.

MAJESTIC MOUNTAIN – Near the 700m when overracing had to be steadied to avoid heels.

SPUR ME PURPLE – On straightening struck the rail and had to be checked away from heels.

OH BOY – Inconvenienced after passing the 200m.

G Colless the rider of BELOSO pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR137(a) for permitting his mount to shift out near the 200m when insufficiently clear of SHARP SPEEDO, resulting in that runner having to be steadied to avoid the heels of BELOSO. G. Colless was suspended from riding in races for a period of nine (9) days to commence midnight 23 July 2016 and to expire midnight 1 August 2016.

Jockey L. Dittman (HIDDEN STORM) was stood down due to illness from his remaining engagements and replaced as per the stewards Race Day Summary.

Following the running of this event the track was upgraded to a Soft 5.

Race 6: SKY RACING Colts, Geldings & Entires Class 3 H’Cap – 1200m
1st – Skylimit 2nd – Mr Cha Cha 3rd – Vision In Motion 4th – *

REDSSON – Near the 150m checked when crowded for room between runners, which both shifted ground marginally.

SKYLIMIT – Trainer T. Gollan explained to stewards that the horse, which has been leading at its most recent starts, had had gear changes fitted including blinkers off. As the horse has been racing in the lead and not finishing its races off the intention today was to settle in a one out one back position with cover. Jockey T. Harrison explained that after travelling a short distance in today’s event the horse dropped the bit, which allowed REDSSON to cross it, resulting in SKYLIMIT racing further back than they had anticipated.

Race 7: SKY RACING Fillies & Mares Class 3 H’Cap – 1200m

UMGENI – Fractious in the stalls and then propped when the gates opened and lost ground. Hung in in the straight.

MURDER OF CROWS – Slow to begin.

KAZOOM – Overraced in the early and middle stages.

IT’S A THRILLA – Raced 3 wide without cover and then refused to settle. Bumped rounding the home turn. Jockey J. Lloyd explained that from the wide draw he was never able to get any closer than 3 wide. He added that the mare was racing in blinkers today for the first time and as a result overraced badly when unable to obtain cover. He further added the mare was far too keen and as a result was unable to finish the race off. Jockey Lloyd was of the view that connections intend to drop the mare back in distance at its next start. A post race veterinary examination found the mare to be stepping slightly short in front.

M. McGuren the rider of SPIRIT OF HUSSON pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR137(a) for permitting his mount to shift out after the 200m whilst being ridden along, resulting in HALLS CREEK having to be checked, clipping heels and blundering. Jockey McGuren was suspended from riding in races for a period of twelve (12) days to commence midnight 24 July 2016 and to expire midnight 5 August 2016.
