Race 1: STA Travel, C,G&E Class 1 H’cap – 1,200m
1st – Butcher Blue 2nd – Academy Hill 3rd – The Monk 4th – Pitbull

PITBULL – Dropped its head as the start was effected and lost ground.

ACADEMY HILL - Blundered on jumping away.

THE MONK - Slow to begin. Leaving the 100m hung out under pressure.

UH HO – Held up for clear running over concluding stages. When questioned as to the performance, App. M Murphy stated that after obtaining his intended position behind the leader in the early stages, the gelding failed to respond to his riding when placed under pressure passing the 500m and proved disappointing. App. Murphy stated that the gelding failed to travel comfortably in today’s soft conditions. Trainer G Shaw was of a similar opinion and indicated that the gelding would now be sent for a spell. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any apparent abnormalities at the time of examination. A swab sample was taken.

Race 2: Burger Urge Maiden H’cap – 1200m
1st – Smart Devil 2nd – Good Catch 3rd – Treasure Island 4th – Hi Harry

BLOOMERANG - Slow to begin.

HI HARRY - Began awkwardly. Approaching the 1100m bumped by GOOD CATCH and shifted out making heavy contact with SMART DEVIL. Raced wide throughout. Hung in in the straight.

GOOD CATCH - Approaching 1100m bumped by STAGE EXPRESS. Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.

SMART DEVIL - Approaching 1100m bumped heavily by HI HARRY and became unbalanced for a short distance.

HELL OF A TIME - Over-raced during the early stages.

Race 3: Smiths Snackvend Maiden Plate – 900m
1st – Ultroneous 2nd – Good Gracious Mae 3rd – Shoutin’ 4th – Bel Above

ARGENT ETOILE - Began awkwardly. Near the 300m steadied from the heels of BOLD TRAVELLER and was obliged to shift back in to secure clear running.

SHOUTIN’ - Slow to begin. Slow to muster speed in the early stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be in season and to have an elevated heart rate. A swab sample was taken.

MYSTICAL HEART - Checked when tightened for room at the start.

EXTRAMARITAL - Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.

BEL ABOVE – Approaching the 600m made contact with the running rail and became awkward. App. C Jokic reported at scale that the gelding hung out for the majority of the event.

BOLD TRAVELLER - Bumped rounding the home turn.

MONAVERGNE - Bumped rounding the home turn.

Race 4: Student Guild BM 70 H’cap – 900m
1st – Prompt Return 2nd – Thomas the Tank 3rd – Burleigh Bullet 4th – Honey KO

As Jockey Matthew Palmer was to be overweight, he was replaced on VIA CON DIOS by Jockey B Appo. Jockey Palmer was fined the sum of $100.

BURLEIGH BULLET - Began awkwardly. Near the 150m lost the use of his near side rein for a short distance.

CANNIZZARO - Shortly after the start, steadied when tightened for room. Bumped upon straightening.

DEEPEST - Approaching the 800m steadied when tightened for room. Raced wide throughout.

THOMAS THE TANK - Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.

SQUEEMI - Raced wide throughout. Upon straightening, steadied from the heels of CANNIZZARO which was taken out by JAMES IS BLONDE. App. C Jokic (JAMES IS BLONDE) was severely reprimanded and advised to exercise greater care in future.

PROMPT RETURN - Shifted out under pressure over the concluding stages.

The track was upgraded to a ‘Soft 6’ after this event.

Race 5: Griffith University BenchMark 70 H’cap – 1800m
1st – Skytastic 2nd – The Lynches 3rd – Walk to the Bar 4th – Kobi Creek

SKYTASTIC - Slow to begin.

SCOTTY BE GOTTI - Began awkwardly. Over-raced during the early and middle stages.

JACK STRIKES BACK - Over-raced and as a result raced 3 wide without cover for the majority of event.

THE LYNCHES - Hung out under pressure in the home straight.

Race 6: Unifitness Health Centre F& M Class 1 H’cap – 1200m
1st – Kyoto Rose 2nd – Cellyse 3rd – Vintage Beauty 4th – Favoured Grace

VINTAGE BEAUTY - Connections advised that the mare would be ridden mid-field with cover. After beginning well settled behind the leader.

CELLYSE - Began awkwardly and bumped ROSE OF WOORIM. A short distance later checked from heels. Disappointed for a run to the outside of LICITRA upon straightening.

INTRONATI - Hampered on jumping away. Passing the 600m hung out badly after which it was eased out of the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be lame in the off hind leg. Connections were advised that the mare must trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to its next race start. Connections indicated that the horse may now be retired.

FAVOURED GRACE - Slow to begin.

JAZZY RULER - Slow to begin.

MAGIC MOUSE - Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.

BELLEVUE AVENUE - Raced wide throughout.

LICITRA – When questioned as to the performance, Jockey L Rolls was of the opinion that whilst the filly may have failed to handle today’s soft conditions, it also raced flat. Trainer M Eggleston advised that the filly would now be sent for a spell. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery rate. A swab sample was taken.

Jockey V Johnston (KYOTO ROSE) was fined $200 for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m.




Race 7: Coca Cola Class 2 H’cap – 1400m
1st – Dream Habit 2nd – Halls Creek 3rd – Choice Princess 4th – Generate

BULLITT COUNTY - Stood flat-footed at the start.

CYRENIA - Began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped HALLS CREEK.

HALLS CREEK - Bumped at the start.

THERMAL UNIT - Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.

MAGIC IN ACTION - Raced wide throughout.

App. Jarrod Woodhouse (CYRENIA) was reprimanded for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m. Stewards noted that this was the first breach of the current rule.
