Race 1: Sky Racing Maiden H’cap – 1400m
1st – Mantecado 2nd – Sidero Star 3rd – Hi Harry 4th – Bloomerang

SIDERO STAR - Initially slow to begin and then blundered.

CELESTRIAL GRAY - Hampered when tightened for room at the start.

BLOO MERANG - Near the 1300m steadied from the heels of MANTECADO after being bumped by HI HARRY which had a tendency to lay in. Leaving the 1000m steadied from heels. Raced wide from the 800m onwards.

LUCKY THREE SEVENS - Raced wide from the 800m onwards.

WENSLEY ROAD - Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.

HI HARRY - Upon returning to scale Jockey M McGuren reported that the gelding was inclined to lay in throughout which prevented him from taking up a forward position. Jockey McGuren added that as a consequence he was caught wide in the early stages and had to restrain the gelding in an effort to obtain cover.

EXTRAMARITAL – Cast its off fore plate in running.

App. J Woodhouse (TRUST MISTY) was fined $200 for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m.

Race 2: Skypoint F&M Class 1 H’cap – 1200m
1st – Lady Mercury 2nd – Thessaly 3rd – Top Peak 4th – Sheza Hotti

THESSALY - Blundered on jumping away.

UNIQUE PEARL - Slow to begin.

HOT MIST - Hampered by LADY MERCURY at the start and shifted in.

SHEZA HOTTI - Approaching the 900m steadied when placed in restricted room. Leaving the 500m had to again be steadied when placed in restricted room to the inside of TOP PEAK (App. A Sewell) which was inclined to lay in at that point. App. Sewell was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.

TOP PEAK – Steadied from the heels of LADY MERCURY over the concluding stages.

Race 3: CON-X-ION Ratings 0-75 H’cap – 1200m
1st – Nakanai 2nd – Shadow Lawn 3rd – Telmemore 4th – Eliminator

SHADOW LAWN – Connections advised that the mare will be ridden forward today if circumstances permit – ridden accordingly. Jockey N Day reported that the mare hung out throughout and did not feel comfortable in its action. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any apparent abnormalities at the time of examination. The mare cast its near hind plate in running.

FAICONI - Slow to begin.

FLORIDA FELLOW - Blundered at the start.

TELMEMORE - Initially slow to begin and then hampered.

NAKANAI - Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.

ELIMINATOR - Jockey L Dittman dropped his whip near the 50m.

After the running of this event, the track was upgraded to a GOOD 3.

Race 4: Hinterland Toyota Robina & Nerang Class 3 Plate – 900m
1st – Got News for You 2nd – Deepest 3rd – Ruffo 4th – High Cost

As Jockey M McGuren was to be overweight, he was replaced on LILLY THE FILLY by Jockey C Whiteley. Jockey McGuren was fined the sum of $100.

LILLY THE FILLY - Began awkwardly.

RUFFO - Slow to begin.

HIGH COST - Raced 4 wide without cover throughout.

DEEPEST - Raced 3 wide without cover throughout. Leaving the 100m accidentally struck on the head by the whip of another rider.

LIESL LASS – Raced wide throughout. Passing the 300m Jockey B Newport’s whip became entangled in the reins for a short distance.

FRISKY TERROR - Passing the 200m steadied when tightened for room between MISS ZINZIN and DEEPEST both of which shifted ground.

MISS ZINZIN - Passing the 200m App. S Lacy lost the use of her off side rein for a short distance.

HIGH COST – Jockey S Drake was reminded of her obligations to ride her mounts right out to the end of the race.

App. L Tilley (RUFFO) was fined $200 for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m.

Race 5: RACQ QTIS 3YO H’cap – 900m
1st – Nicconi Leggera 2nd – Excalibrator 3rd – Engraved 4th – I Remember You

BRIGADOON MAGIC - Slow to begin.

I REMEMBER YOU - Began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped NICCONI LEGGERA.

NICCONI LEGGERA - Bumped at the start and became unbalanced.

ENGRAVED - Slow to muster speed in the early stages. Difficulty securing clear running upon straightening.

ALL PICKLED - Leaving the 700m steadied when tightened for room by EXCALIBRATOR. App. L Tarrant (EXCALIBRATOR) was issued with a severe reprimand for shifting in when not sufficiently clear.

CAMBOOYA ROCK – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be displaying a poor post-race recovery and a nasal discharge. Trainer J Ferguson will be advised that a veterinary clearance will be required prior to the gelding’s next start.

Race 6: Dreamworld Class 5 H’cap – 1800m
1st – Scotty Be Gotti 2nd – Jack Strikes Back 3rd – Qabla 4th – Dead Heat - Morendi & Dream Habit

MORENDI - Sow to begin.

DREAM HABIT - Raced 3 wide without cover for the majority of event. Bumped approaching the 400m.


SCOTTY BE GOTTI - Jockey D Griffin reported that it was not his intention to lead today, however, after beginning well from the inside barrier and with the addition of blinkers found himself in the lead and was content to remain in that position.

JACK STRIKES BACK – Approaching the 400m placed in restricted room and bumped DREAM HABIT.

QABLA - Held up upon straightening.

Jockey D Griffin (SCOTTY BE GOTTI) was fined $200 for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m.

Race 7: Scenic Day Tours C,G&E Class 1 H’cap – 1200m
1st – Carrangall 2nd – Delightful Feeling 3rd – Perdu 4th – Drill

EMPEROR MAXIMILIAN - Difficult to load. A warning will be placed on the gelding’s barrier manners. When questioned as to the performance Jockey L Rolls stated that he anticipated settling in a handy position with cover however the gelding raced keenly in the early and middle stages which resulted in him settling closer to the speed than he would have liked. Jockey Rolls added that the gelding failed to respond to his riding over the final 400m and in his opinion was disappointing. A swab sample was taken. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the near fore leg. A veterinary certificate of fitness will be required before the gelding’s next race start.

CRIMSON GOD - Blundered at the start.

THE INFLAMER - Leaving the 1000m commenced to over-race and then had to be steadied when awkwardly placed to the inside of EMPEROR MAXIMILIAN. Held up for a short distance approaching the 200m.

ROB ROY - Raced 3 wide without cover in the early stages. Leaving the 100m steadied from the heels of ACADEMY HILL.

ACADEMY HILL - Raced wide throughout.

DRILL– Approaching the 800m steadied from the heels of DELIGHTFUL FEELING and raced wide from that point onwards. Bumped passing the 200m. Hung in over the final 100m and approaching the winning post steadied from the heels of CARRANGALL.

DANE JESTER - Held up approaching the home turn.

PERDU - Shifted out under pressure over the final 300m.

CARRANGALL – Leaving the 300m held up before shifting out to secure clear running near the 200m at which point bumped DRILL.

Race 8: Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary Class 2 H’cap – 1400m
1st – Legal Counsel 2nd – Water Boy 3rd – Fogoso 4th – Halls Creek

The start time for this event was amended to 4.54pm.

CELLYSE - Began awkwardly and over-raced in the early and middle stages.

WORLD SERIES - Slow to begin.

STEAL A DIAMOND - Began awkwardly.

WATER BOY - Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.
