Race 1: First National Real Estate Mares Maiden Plate – 1200m
1st – Opinionated   2nd – Secrets Surround   3rd – High Specs   4th – Mandela Dreaming
 
TRIP TO RIO – Lost ground when tightened for room shortly after the start.
 
FINE EYES – Passing the 900m had to be eased from the heels of OPINIONATED and then commenced to hang out for some distance.  Overraced in the middle stages.
 
HIGH SPECS – Approaching the 500m had to be steadied from heels and was then held up rounding the home turn.
 
KITTI PING – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
AVERAGE OUT – Raced wide throughout.
 
SECRETS SURROUND – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.
 
Following the running of this event the track was upgraded to a Good 4.
 
 
Race 2: MANAGEME Colts, Geldings & Entires Maiden Plate – 1200m
1st – Sunny Fame   2nd – Wack’Em   3rd – King Of The Castle   4th – French Descent
 
The start was delayed when FRENCH DESCENT proved difficult to load.
The start was then further delayed when a piece of gear on MAGNORMOUS, when loaded, had to be adjusted.
 
SPORTSTAR SAMUEL – Slow to begin.
 
ARGENT ETOILE – Began awkwardly.  Hung out in the home straight.
 
DE LYNCH – Bumped at the start and shortly afterwards had to be steadied from heels.
 
TAHNACIOUS – Near the 900m had to be steadied when awkwardly placed at the heels of BROOKE EXPRESS.
 
MAGNORMOUS – Momentarily held up on straightening.
 
BROOKE EXPRESS – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.
 
 
Race 3: Best Signs QTIS 3YO Fillies Maiden H’Cap – 1200m
1st – Beaudacious   2nd – Navy Gal   3rd – Fatal Rendezvous   4th – Bella’s Shadow
 
Trainer D. Kelly was fined $100.00 for the late declaration of V. Johnston as the rider of MARVEL CREATION.
 
CALISTO – Slow to begin.  Upon returning to scale jockey C. Dell reported that the filly hung out for the majority of the event.  Trainer K. Martin was advised a warning would be placed against the filly’s racing manners.
 
MALDITA – Slow to begin.
 
MISS COLOMBIA – Began awkwardly.
 
NAVY GAL – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.
 
APRILES LUCK – When questioned as to his riding jockey N. Day stated that he had been instructed to position the filly where comfortable and further that it had shown a tendency to hang in in its track work and trials leading into its first start today. Jockey Day added that he rode the filly out of the barrier in an attempt to obtain a prominent position however, after leaving the 1100m it commenced to hang in and as a result he took hold of the filly as he was concerned for the safety of the riders drawn inside of him, which resulted in the filly settling further back in the field.  Jockey Day added that the filly continued to hang in throughout the race placing him at a disadvantage in riding it out in the home straight.  A post race veterinary examination of the filly revealed no abnormalities and a swab sample was taken.  The stable was advised that the filly must trial to the satisfaction of stewards prior to racing again.
 
 
Race 4: WPIAS Pink Spectre BM 62 H’Cap – 900m
1st – High Cost   2nd – Positive Quest   3rd – Sassy Tycoon   4th – Hannah Banana
 
WHATEVER MISS – Began awkwardly and shifted out.  Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
STARGRILL BOY – Lost ground when steadied from heels shortly after the start.
 
PRIMO PINTXO – Leaving the 600m commenced to hang out and had to be steadied from the heels of WHATEVER MISS.  Upon return to scale jockey D. Griffin expressed concerns over the mare’s action.  A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.  Trainer L. Garrett undertook to advise stewards of any abnormalities that may come to light in the coming days.
 
DRAGON STREET – Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
HANNAH BANANA – Jockey S. Bogenhuber reported that the filly failed to muster the necessary speed over the 900m to take up a forward position.  Jockey Bogenhuber was of the opinion that the filly is better suited over distances of 1000m or 1100m.
 
 
Race 5: Birkbecks Jewellers Pink Ribbon Cup Class 4 H’Cap – 1800m
1st – Rocbolt   2nd – Just Keep Giving   3rd – Favoured Grace   4th – Heart Stealer
 
MARLENE ADELE – Began awkwardly and bumped SCOTTY BE GOTTI.  Overraced in the early stages.
 
SCOTTY BE GOTTI – Bumped at the start.  Overraced in the middle stages.
 
N. Day (JUST KEEP GIVING) was fined $200.00 for returning to scale in excess of the permitted ½ a kilo overweight.
 
 
Race 6: The Don Alroe Memorial Class 2 H’Cap – 1100m
1st – Four Excel   D/Heat 2nd – Vinnie Loves Me/Gracefully Chic   4th – Shadow Lawn
 
RAINBOW LACE – When being restrained in an attempt to obtain cover passing the 900m commenced to hang out and as a consequence raced wide without cover from that point onwards.  Raced 4 wide without cover throughout.  A post race veterinary examination of the mare failed to reveal any abnormalities.
 
COMBATANT – Held up rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the straight to a point leaving the 200m.
 
VINNIE LOVES ME – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.
 
LAIKA GORDO – Raced 5 wide without cover throughout.
 
 
Race 7: Griffith University BM 75 H’Cap – 1400m
1st – Crooked Stick   2nd – Smooth Talker   3rd – Carton   4th – Fasta Than Light
 
TELMEMORE – Slow to begin.
 
DOUSAICHI – Near the 1200m had to be steadied when tightened for room and then raced wide throughout.
I’LL TAKE THE JAG – Bumped by CARTON leaving the 500m and again on a number of occasions in the home straight.
 
WRITTEN ABOVE ALL – Hung out rounding the home turn.  Bumped by FASTA THAN LIGHT on 2 occasions in the early stages of the home straight.
 
SMOOTH TALKER – Shifted in under pressure in the home straight.
 
TANGARA – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.  A post race veterinary examination of the gelding failed to reveal any abnormalities.
 
UNIQUE MISTIQUE – Raced 4 wide without cover throughout.
 
D. Griffin (I’LL TAKE THE JAG) was reprimanded for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m.  
 
 
Race 8: SPRINTQUIP Class 1 H’Cap – 1400m
1st – Grobbelaar   2nd – Still The Same   3rd – Stormy Destiny   4th – Treasure Island
 
GROBBELAAR – Slow to begin.
 
TREASURE ISLAND – Hampered at the start.   Jockey L. Londregan reported that he was disappointed in the mare’s performance today.  Jockey Londregan was of the opinion that the mare performed better on rain affected surfaces.
 
MANTECADO – Had to be steadied when tightened for room shortly after the start.
 
STILL THE SAME – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.
 
CASINO CENTURY – A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be significantly lame in the near fore leg.  Trainer L. MacPherson will be advised that a veterinary certificate will be required prior to the gelding racing again.
 
App M. Murphy (GROBBELAAR) was fined $100.00 for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m.
