Oliver and App B. Grylls were indisposed due to suspension and D. Griffin due to personal reasons stewards permitted rider replacements as per the Stewards Race Day Summary. Due to the number of replacements and the late notification of the apprentices’ unavailability stewards afforded connections the opportunity to replace the suspended apprentices with senior riders. RACE 1:Sky Racing Class 3 H’Cap - 900M RILE – Hampered at the start. INVINCIBLE EXPRESS – Began awkwardly. PERDU – Held up rounding the home turn and for the majority of the home straight. RACE 2: RACELANDIA Colts, Geldings & Entires Class 4 H’Cap - 1200M ELIMINATOR – Raced 3 wide without cover from the 700m when taken wider by AUSSIE JACK. Upon straightening was inconvenienced by TIN’S POCKET, which hung out.AUSSIE JACK – Rounding the home turn was taken wider by TIN’S POCKET, which hung out. TIN’S POCKET – Jockey T. Harrison reported that the gelding hung out for the entire race and due to its racing manners she was unable to remain in a position to the outside of AUSSIE JACK and as a result allowed the gelding to stride forward. However, the gelding continued to hang out rounding the home turn and in the home straight thereby preventing her from riding it out. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Trainer B. Hudson was advised that the gelding must trial to the satisfaction of stewards prior to racing again. ENDLESS PUZZLE – Raced wide without cover throughout. J. Orman (TURKANA) was fined $100.00 for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m. RACE 3: Cocoon Trackside Party Maiden H’Cap - 2200M MCDINGA - Trainer K. Kemp advised that the gelding would be ridden forward from the wide barrier today. The horse was ridden accordingly. PRIMUS INVICTUS – Slow to begin. FAIRY DANCER – Slow to begin. Held up rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight before securing clear running leaving the 200m. ELUSIVE ELEMENT – Slow to begin. MUNTIJ – Raced wide early before being ridden to the lead near the 1300m. SHINOBI – Raced wide early before being ridden to the lead near the 1000m. RACE 4: Sky Racing Open H’Cap - - 1800M METEOROLOGIST – Slow to begin. DOUBLE IMPACT – Overraced when leading in the early and middle stages. DREAM HABIT – Had difficulty securing clear running between the 300m and 200m. Jockey R. Fradd reported that the gelding did not appreciate today’s firm surface. LAST SIGHT – Jockey L. Lloyd reported that the gelding did not appreciate today’s firm surface. RACE 5: RACELANDIA Maiden Plate - 1200M Trainer T. Gollan was fined $100.00 for the late declaration of T. Harrison as rider of ALL PLUCK. The start was initially delayed when FLINDERS DRAGON proved difficult to load. The stable will be advised that a further barrier certificate will be required prior to the gelding racing again. The start was further delayed when ALL PLUCK could not be loaded and was subsequently declared a late scratching at 3.34 p.m. All monies invested on ALL PLUCK were ordered to be refunded. Deductions applicable to bets placed on winner and placegetters prior to 3.34 p.m.:- 13 cents in the dollar for the win - #13 (VOLPINO)15 cents in the dollar for place of winner - #13 (VOLPINO)20 cents in the dollar for 2nd place - #14 (ROSES OF JOY)20 cents in the dollar for 3rd place - #11 (RED RIGHT OUT) SPs were subject Trainer T. Gollan was advised that a further barrier certificate will be required prior to the colt racing again. MAITLAND GEM – Slow to begin. CAMPO SERRANO – Slow to begin. Near the 1000m was bumped by CITRUS WISH. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance jockey J. Lloyd stated that after beginning only fairly he was obliged to ride the gelding vigorously in the early stages to comply with his instructions to settle outside the leader. Jockey Lloyd added that notwithstanding the work the gelding was obliged to do early it failed to respond to his riding rounding the home turn and was disappointing in its performance. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. GOLD RESERVE – Bumped shortly after the start. VOLPINO – Shifted out at the start and bumped another runner. FLINDERS DRAGON – Steadied when tightened for room shortly after the start. CITRUS WISH – Bumped CAMP SERRANO near the 1000m. HENRY’S AFFAIR – Near the 500m steadied when awkwardly placed at the heels of CITRUS WISH. Had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early stages of the home straight before being held up approaching the 200m when disappointed for a run. RACE 6: Cocoon Trackside Party Fillies & Mares Class 4 H’Cap - 1200M The start was delayed when MEDIA MAID and TIBROGARGAN MISS were fractious in the barriers. Both runners were removed from the barriers, underwent a veterinary examination after which MEDIA MAID was cleared to start and TIBROGARGAN MISS was declared a late scratching at 4.12 p.m. All monies invested on TIBROGARGAN MISS were ordered to be refunded. Deductions applicable to bets placed on winner and placegetters prior to 4.12 p.m.:- 16 cents in the dollar for the win - #3 (ALASKAN WOLF)15 cents in the dollar for place of winner - #3 (ALASKAN WOLF)16 cents in the dollar for 2nd place - #8 (MAJELLA MAGIC)17 cents in the dollar for 3rd place - #14 (MEDIA MAID) SPs were subject Trainer D. Hansen (TIBROGARGAN MISS) was advised the mare must trial to the satisfaction of stewards prior to racing again. Trainer B. Hill (MEDIA MAID) was advised that a warning would be placed on the mare’s barrier manners. DUCHESS MOLLY – Slow to begin. Held up from the 400m to the 200m. MAJELLA MAGIC – Held up rounding the home turn and again passing the 200m. NAME AND SHAME – Raced wide without cover throughout. ALASKAN WOLF – Raced wide throughout. ZERO TOLERANCE – When questioned regarding the performance jockey P. Hammersley stated that despite travelling comfortably in the early and middle stages the mare failed to let down as expected upon straightening and in his opinion was disappointing. Trainer K. Schweida indicated that the mare may not have appreciated today’s firm surface. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. RACE 7: Sky Racing Class 2 H’Cap - 1400M As J. Lloyd was injured stewards permited J. Orman to be replaced as the rider of RED WAYNE. SUITE MOVER – Slow to begin and a short distance later was hampered. AUDREE – Slow to begin. Raced wide without cover in the early stages. RED WAYNE – Raced wide in the early stages. FASTQUEST – Held up rounding the home turn. Leaving the 300m had to be steadied from the heels of AUDREE. ROUND MOUNTAIN GEM – Jockey A. Spinks reported the mare felt short in its action in the home straight and may not have been suited to today’s firm conditions.
