HESEZSO underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after being fractious in the enclosure. The gelding was subsequently cleared to race. A warning was placed on the gelding’s pre-race manners. SEND US A SIGN – Slow to begin and then over-raced during the early stages. RACE 2: The Law Shack Class 1 H’cap – 1400m 1st: Ma Raison 2nd: Te Rangi 3rd: Old Tex 4th: Late Payment O’SPACEHELLO - Slow to begin. CALL US PRIMI - Slow to begin. OLD TEX - Over-raced during the early and middle stages. TE RANGI - Over-raced during the early and middle stages. ADJOURNED - Held up rounding the home turn and inconvenienced when disappointed for a run upon straightening. After race 2, the track was upgraded to a ‘soft 5’. RACE 3: AHC Worongary Town Centre Maiden Plate – 900m 1st: Don’t Play Around 2nd: Zizou Supreme 3rd: Brand Works 4th: Freeze ‘N’ Tease FREEZE ‘N’ TEASE which was late arriving on course due to transportation difficulties, underwent a veterinary examination and was cleared to start. GOOD GRACIOUS MAE - Fractious in the barriers. Hung out approaching and rounding the home turn. ELDRICK - Slow to begin. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have a slow post-race recovery rate and an abrasion to the off hind fetlock. DANYSUS - Steadied shortly after the start when tightened for room and lost ground. ZIZOU SUPREME - Near the 600m steadied when inconvenienced by GOOD GRACIOUS MAE which hung out. Raced 3 wide without cover throughout. FREEZE ‘N’ TEASE - Raced 4 wide without cover throughout. BRAND WORKS - Raced wide throughout. RACE 4: Paradise Resort Gold Coast BenchMark 60 H’cap – 900m 1st: Jobiwood 2nd: Positive Quest 3rd: Skanda 4th: Corryvreckan THE BEE’S KNEES – Fractious in the barriers. Reared as the start was effected and lost considerable ground. A further barrier certificate will be required prior to the mare’s next race start. THE WANTED CLUB - Slow to begin. JUSTASAGA - Slow to begin. Over-raced during the early stages. Raced 4 wide without cover throughout. JEPTOO - Slow to begin. Over-raced during the early stages. Raced wide throughout. CORRYVRECKAN – Blundered on jumping away. POSITIVE QUEST - Over-raced during the early stages. Raced 5 wide without cover throughout. JOBIWOOD - Raced 3 wide without cover throughout. WHATEVER MISS - Raced wide throughout. Hung out in the home straight proving difficult to ride. RACE 5: Nucon Concrete Maiden H’cap 4yo & Up – 1200m 1st: Loch Maree 2nd: Mia Sorella 3rd: Stormy Leo 4th: Mr Schultz ABLE GOAL – The gelding raced without blinkers which was not correctly advertised in some publications. STORMY LEO - The gelding underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after taking charge of its rider during the preliminary and was subsequently cleared to start. Raced wide without cover throughout. BLESS HIM - Slow to begin. MR SCHULTZ - Began awkwardly and then steadied when tightened for room. KAIZARI - Over-raced during the early and middle stages. RACE 6: Flan & Emily-Jade for Breakfast Class 2 H’cap – 1100m1st: All the Credit 2nd: Laika Gordo 3rd: Jetasan 4th: Prince of the Turf MR HENNESSY - Began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped ANGEL OF LIBERTY. ANGEL OF LIBERTY - Bumped at the start. PRINCE OF THE TURF - Began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped ALL THE CREDIT. Near the 100m steadied from the heels of ALL THE CREDIT which shifted out. Jockey Griffin (ALL THE CREDIT) was reprimanded and advised to make a greater effort to keep his mounts straight in future. ALL THE CREDIT - Bumped at the start. Hung out under pressure over the final 200m. LAIKA GORDO - Bumped at the start after beginning awkwardly. Over-raced during the early and middle stages. JETASAN – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the horse to have bled from both nostrils. As this was the second occasion on which JETASAN had bled it will incur a lifetime ban from racing. Jockey D Griffin (ALL THE CREDIT) was fined the sum of $200 for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m. RACE 7: 102.9 Hot Tomato BenchMark 70 H’cap – 1400m1st: Amata 2nd: Venecia 3rd: Montrer Dame 4th: Basic Strategy BEAUMARIS – The gelding raced with blinkers which was not correctly advertised in some publications. MONTRER DAME - Slow to begin. AMATA - Began awkwardly. BEAUMARIS - Made contact with the inside running rail near the 1200m and became unbalanced. Held up passing the 200m. LORD LONHRO – Commenced to give ground leaving the 800m before being eased out of the event approaching the home turn and collapsed near the 300m. A post-race veterinary examination indicated that the gelding suffered a fatal heart attack. Blood and urine samples were taken and the gelding was sent for a post-mortem. SNAPPER – Near the 400m shifted out to improve and bumped BASIC STRATEGY. When questioned as to the performance, Jockey D Griffin stated that the horse travelled well in the early and middle stages however failed to respond to his riding upon straightening and was most disappointing. Jockey Griffin was unable to offer any explanation for the performance. Trainer J Morrisey noted that the horse was second up today and its previous campaign had taken a number of runs to reach peak fitness. Mr Morrisey also indicated that the horse is better suited over further distances. Mr Morrisey undertook to monitor the horse following the race and report to stewards should any abnormalities arise which may explain today’s performance. BASIC STRATEGY – Bumped near the 400m.
