RACE 1: Aquis Raceday 6 January Maiden Plate – 900m
 
HELUVA DIVA – Began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped DISTRICT. Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
DISTRICT – Bumped at the start. Raced greenly throughout.
 
PATS DATSUN – Bumped at the start. Near the 800m had to be steadied when tightened for room.
 
AHWAHNEECHEE – Bumped at the start. Raced greenly in the home straight.
 
LUCK OF FRIENDSHIP – Near the 400m was momentarily steadied when placed in restricted room. Raced greenly throughout.
 
 
RACE 2: Moreton Hire Class 2 Handicap – 900m
 
VOL VALLEE which became fractious in the barriers after being loaded underwent a veterinary examination and was subsequently declared a late scratching at 1.10 p.m. by order of stewards acting on veterinary advice. All monies invested on VOL VALLEE were ordered to be refunded. Deductions applicable to bets placed on the winner prior to 1.10 p.m.:-

Trainer D. Murphy was advised that the gelding would require a further barrier certificate prior to racing again.
 
CALLIGRAPHER – When questioned as to the performance jockey R. Plumb expressed his disappointment in the geldings performance and indicated that it may be better suited when ridden with cover. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
 
RACE 3: RBC Group Fillies & Mares Class 3 Handicap – 1200m
 
Trainer B. Herne was fined $100 for the late declaration of M. Bennett as the rider of JE SUIS PREST.
 
HIDDEN GOLD – Began awkwardly.
 
 
RACE 4: Simon Says Landscaping Maiden Handicap – 1200m
 
As M. McGuren was late arriving on course due to transport difficulties stewards permitted B. Grylls to be substituted as the rider of LUNA MISSILE.

LORD OF THE DREAMZ – Began awkwardly, overraced in the early and middle stages and as a consequence shifted wider on the track leaving the 800m.
 
BOUCHARD – Near the 800m was inconvenienced by LORD OF THE DREAMZ, which shifted out when overracing.
 
TYCOON LAYLA – Laid in rounding the home turn and bumped FRENCH DESCENT.
 
FRENCH DESCENT – Bumped near the 400m.
 
ROSEBERY AFFAIR – Bumped near the 400m.
 
Following the running of this event the track was upgraded to a Soft 5.
 
 
RACE 5: Dreamweavers QTIS 3YO Colts & Geldings Maiden Handicap – 1200m
 
The start was delayed when MASONDALE proved difficult to load.
 
THE RIDGE – Began awkwardly.
 
MOTUEKA RIVER – Slow to begin. Hung in during the early stages and near the 1100m had to be steadied from the heels of THE GROOM.
 
OPPENHEIMER – Slow to begin. Overraced in the early and middle stages.
 
CORSA DORO – Slow to begin. Raced wide without cover for the majority.
 
BULLTRUCK – Slow to begin.
RACE 6: RBC Business Solutions Class 1 Handicap – 1400m
 
LEROY ROCKS – Began awkwardly and shifted out.
 
SANGUINE RED – Hampered at the start when tightened for room.
 
ANGELAS BEAUTY – Hampered at the start when tightened for room. Near the 300m was eased when tightened for room between SHAOLIN KUNGFU and ARAKAIN, which was taken out by TEN TAUBADAS. Jockey M. McGuren (TEN TAUBADAS) was reprimanded for allowing his mount to shift out when insufficiently clear.
 
WINDCATCHER – Slow to begin and when caught wide in the early stages was allowed to stride forward to obtain a position outside the leader.
 
SHAOLIN KUNGFU – Bumped near the 300m. Shifted in under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
ARAKAIN – Bumped by TEN TAUBADAS near the 300m. Raced wide without cover for the majority.
 
SKYLIGHT – Momentarily steadied from heels on straightening.
 
 
RACE 7: Magic Millions 13 January Class 5 Handicap – 1100m
 
Trainer T. Edmonds was fined $100 for the late declaration of J. Morris as the rider of I AM THE SCULPTOR.
 
As R. Plumb was overweight stewards permitted M. Bennett to be substituted as the rider of SECRET BLEND. Jockey Plumb was fined $100.
 
CHARLIE CAT reared in the barriers dislodging jockey S. Galloway. CHARLIE CAT was subsequently declared a late scratching at 5.04 p.m. by order of stewards acting on veterinary advice. All monies invested on CHARLIE CAT were ordered to be refunded. Deductions applicable to bets placed on the winner and placegetters prior to 5.04 p.m.:-
 
28 cents in the dollar for the win – #11(JOBIWOOD)
20 cents in the dollar for place of winner – #11(JOBIWOOD)
21 cents in the dollar for the 2nd placegetter – #8 (STAR STILETTO)

Trainer M. Costa was advised the gelding must trial to the satisfaction of stewards prior to racing again.
 
I AM THE SCULPTOR – Began awkwardly and a short distance later was steadied from the heels of CRUISE POWER and lost ground. Had difficulty obtaining clear running to the outside of CRUISE POWER between the 300m and 200m.
 
 
CRUISE POWER – Bumped at the start. Jockey G. Colless reported that the gelding made an abnormal respiratory noise during the race. A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings. The stable was advised that the results of an endoscopic examination would be required prior to the gelding racing again.
 
WHOS YOUR DADDY – Slow to begin. Overraced in the middle stages.
 
ROYAL HOOTENANNY – Began awkwardly. Overraced in the early stages.
 
REAL CUTE – Began awkwardly.
 
JOBIWOOD – Overraced in the early stages.
 
SECRET BLEND – Raced wide without cover throughout.
