SUPPLEMENTARY
 
From Doomben Meeting 20/1/2018 – Race 2
 
Trainer R. Heathcote reported that a veterinary and endoscopic examination of ZAHSPEED following the race revealed mucus and inflammation in its trachea and a mild upper airway respiratory issue. As a consequence the gelding will undergo treatment and a short spell prior to racing again.
 
 
RACE 1: Free Entry Saturday 27 Jan Colts, Geldings & Entires Class 4 Handicap – 1400m
 
WHOS YOUR DADDY – Stood flatfooted as the start was effected and lost ground. Trainer J. Wallace was advised that the gelding must obtain a further barrier certificate before starting again.
 
PLAN RED – Slow to begin. Overraced in the early stages. Jockey J. Byrne reported that the gelding hung in in the home straight.
 
SHOW EM – Overraced passing the 1200m and in doing so had to be steadied from the heels of STAR ROCK. Approaching the 200m was obliged to alter course from the heels of STAR ROCK, when that runner shifted out.
 
SAME OLD – Raced wide early and was allowed to stride forward to settle outside the leader. Leaving the 200m was momentarily eased when tightened for room between ATOUCHMORE and STAR ROCK, which shifted out under pressure.
 
STAR ROCK – Shifted out under pressure in the home straight.
 
App R. Ride (ATOUCHMORE) was fined $300 for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m.
 
 
RACE 2: Chinese New Year Raceday 17 Feb BenchMark 75 Handicap – 900m
 
LIFES LIKE THAT – Slow to begin. App E. Ljung reported she was obliged to stop riding for a short distance passing the 50m when the gelding put in 2 awkward strides, after which she was satisfied with its action and continued to ride it out to the end of the race. Stewards did not believe that App Ljungs actions had any material affect on the placings.
 
TYCOON ZIP – Hung out rounding the home turn.
 
SQUEEMI – Hung out under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
App E. Ljung (LIFES LIKE THAT) was fined $100 for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m.
 
RACE 3: March To The Millions QTIS 3YO Maiden Plate 900m
 
PAY DAY GREY – Hampered at the start.
 
LOVESON – Began awkwardly. Jockey R. Williams dropped her whip passing the 100m.
 
LETITRIPPOTATOCHIP – Passing the 600m shifted in and when being corrected became awkward for a short distance before hanging out rounding the home turn.
 
LUVASIA – Hung inwards in the home straight.
 
ALLEVIATOR – Hung out in the home straight.
 
MOTHER TO RACE HER – Raced wide without cover for the majority.
 
DEEP LEAD – Shifted an off hind plate in running.
 
RACE 4: UBET Open Handicap – 1800m
 
DANCE OF HEROES – Trainer D. Vandyke advised the horse would be ridden further forward today. The horse settled in a handy position with cover.
 
HOUDINI THE GREAT – Slow to begin. Leaving the 1000m made contact with the running rail and became awkward for a short distance.
 
PUSH THE SKY AWAY – Leaving the 1000m made contact with the running rail and became awkward for a short distance.
RACE 5: Dome Package Resumes 17 Feb Colts, Geldings & Entires Maiden Plate – 1200m
 
The start of this race was delayed when CASH IS BLACK was unable to be loaded. CASH IS BLACK was withdrawn by order of stewards at 4.07 p.m. All monies invested on the horse were ordered to be refunded. Deductions applicable to bets placed on winner and placegetters prior to 4.07 p.m.:-
 
10 cents in the dollar for the win - #6 (SUILVEN)
21 cents in the dollar for place of winner - #6 (SUILVEN)
16 cents in the dollar for 2nd place - #7 (VOUCH FOR ME)
9 cents in the dollar for 3rd place - #8 (GREEN LUCK)
 
Co-trainer B. Rodgers was advised that the horse would be required to complete an official trial to the satisfaction of stewards prior to its next start.
 
SPEECHMAKER – Slow to begin.
 
FAME THREEANDSEVEN – Hampered at the start. Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
SUILVEN – When questioned as to the seemingly improved performance trainer B. Dais noted that the gelding was first up from a 6 month spell during which it had been gelded, which he attributed to the improved performance.
 
RACE 6: Jewel Of The Coast Raceday 17 March Fillies & Mares Maiden Plate – 1200m
 
FAST SUN – Slow to begin.
 
PORTUGUESE TART – Slow to begin.
 
SWEET CAVIAR – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout.
 
BONNY BRIE – Raced wide throughout. Jockey A. Spinks reported that the mare resented the crossover noseband and as a consequence hung out for the majority, which prevented him from riding the mare out in the home straight. A post race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be making an abnormal respiratory sound. Trainer R. Cameron was advised that a veterinary clearance with the results of an endoscopic examination would be required. Furthermore the mare must complete a satisfactory trial prior racing again.
 
WAKATA – Raced wide throughout.
 
FUSSPOT – Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
RACE 7: Girls On Tour Event 17 March Class 1 Handicap – 1100m
 
ALASTRIONA - Cast an off hind plate prior to the race, was reshod, underwent a veterinary examination and was cleared to race.
 
Prior to the declaration of correct weight App J. Guthmann-Chester the rider of the 2nd placegetter FALSIFIED exercised his rights to view the patrol footage to ascertain if he had grounds to lodge an objection again the winner PRIDE OF DESTINY (J. Lloyd) near the 150m. After viewing the patrol footage App Guthmann-Chester elected not to proceed with an objection and correct weight was declared on the numbers semaphored.
 
FALSIFIED – Momentarily held up leaving the 300m. Near the 150m had to be steadied when tightened for room between TURBO BUNDY and PRIDE OF DESTINY, both of which shifted ground.
 
LYRICAL PRINCE – Raced wide throughout.
 
SCORCHA – Raced wide without cover throughout.
